Hi, what advice would you recommend for a first year doctor who is international and coming to Germany, what pitfalls do you think is usually encountered and what skills would you recommend doctors develop before coming to Germany, well aside from the language itself. Thanks for the content by the way, I know it is hard but something is better than nothing XD

It is a bit difficult for me to answer this properly because I‘m was not international but I would say besides the language, it is important to know that we do our own i.v cannulas, which is usually covered by nurses in other countries! This surprised a lot of docs from abroad! there is also more like a „learning by doing“ principle going on rather than super tight supervision or teaching, compared to the UK for example.

I cannot give you personal advice since I was born and raised in Germany and went to Medical School in Austria.

My medical school is not on Anabin. Can I still become a doctor in Germany?
Hey, as far as I know, the University needs to be listed on Anabin. You can always ask them directly what that means and if you need other qualifications to get recognised :)
