They perform this song the first time Spike lays eyes on Buffy at The Bronze. Looking back on it, it's surprising how much it actually fits their relationship. I find it deliciously amusing because I don't think the writers had even THOUGHT of having Spike and Buffy romantically involved at that point (they had originally planned to kill him off early on before they realized how insanely popular with the fans he was). Must've been fate. ;) ~
LolitaLush he was only supposed to appear in 3 episodes but kept playing the character as three-dimensional so Joss would keep him. His character was supposed to be a throwaway reference to Sid and Nancy
luckyDancer100 yeah, James reportedly kept playing his lines and facial expressions etc totally different to how the writers envisioned and he was just making Spike so detailed that they couldnt kill him off when planned haha! Paid off, audiences loved it lol!
@@holi117 lol I remember James Marsters said the creator of Buffy pushed him up against the wall and said “I don’t care how popular you are! You’re DEAD”😂
I think way Spike is looking at her he is attracted to her. This is why Drusilla says later that the Slayer is all around him. She can sense that it is not normal vampire predatory acts.
christian st martin Harmony mentions this as well. Says Spike couldn't finish the job, even without the chip. And even Spike admits Buffy got off way too easy when he was evil
To all the Spuffy fans out there, fun fact: the French voiceover actors for Spike and Buffy were married IRL when they worked on Buffy. If that's not meant to be every step of the way, I don't know what is :D
The scene where this song plays as Spike is watching Buffy, Willow and Xander dancing at the Bronze, preferably watching Buffy is a great scene in the series!!
Twilight could never compare to Buffy this show was amazing it had a real storyline & the characters were interesting I hate when i see girls fangirling over twilight i will forever fangirl to Buffy & this is coming from a 15 year old girl I have all seasons on dvd some action figures, comic books, books & a t shirts i will always love Buffy 3
I actually thought that this was a great Buffy and Spike song... I mean, it plays while he's stalking her... that entire scene has such a sensual overtone to it and the lyrics fit it so well in such an interesting way.
I did a stupid thing last night I called you A moment of weakness No, not a moment More like three months of weakness I'm one step away from crashing to my knees One step away from spilling my guts to you I did a stupid thing last night I called you I'm doing all right No, don't feel sorry for me Really, I'm all right I'm one step away from crashing to my knees One step away from spilling my guts to you You see, there's this huge chunk of me missing It's gone And I can' feel it, I can't feel it I can't feel I did a stupid thing last night I called you It's the last time And maybe tomorrow night, will be the last time...
The Bronze was a lot like the bar I went to in a college town in my twenties...they played this song...No there weren't any vampires, unfortunately. It would have been like living in an ep of Buffy.
Unless Spike and Buffy had some secret romance going on back then it's not actually a Spuffy song lol I mean one can obviously consider it such to themselves but in general i don't think it is, it's just the first time Spike came into it. There was nothing between Spuffy for several seasons later ^^
I am well aware of that fact. But you can't say that every single song that played during season 2 were Angel/Buffy songs. I never said it was a romantic Spuffy song.
Jennifer Shelley Lol obviously I don't think every song was a Buffy and Angel song, this song was just another song playing in the bronze. I initially mentioned the buffy and angel comment because of the person wondering why the picture is of them for this song, and that it makes sense that its their picture since its a season 2 episode etc.
Omg thank you i luv this song! Buffy :( I miss the WB, tv was amazing then. i was 9 when buffy came on and it's been my fav show since. Buffy, Dawson's Creek, Charmed, Roswell, Felicity, Popular ....sighhh
I had those 2 or 3 lines from "School Hard" stuck in my mind for quite a few years until I thought 'Hey! Maybe that internet thing can help me solve this mystery!' lol ^_^ On a different note: I'm one of those few people who actually ship Buffy alone more so than her with Angel or Spike. Not that I wasn't into both relationships, I was, but Angel was her first, crazy teenage I-can't-see-a-future-without-you love whereas Spike was her embracing her adulthood but also her the mere darkness of her craft and her (at the time) self destructive mind. That a controversial and well functioning relationship is almost impossible for her makes sense to me, just like the fact that her having kids would be a benefit to nobody but her enemies.
I thought Riley was the right one for Buffy. He accepted her as she was and she wasn't able to be with a regular guy who loved her so. I don't know if she was bored or what, but after she realized her mistake it was too late. He flew away on a helicopter and she didn't see him again until he had a wife.
Maybe you have a wrong version. If you watch the episode, the song sounds like this in the episode, and this is the version on the buffy/angel soundtrack.
@locker300 In that liking Buffy liking Spike at that point (or any, I would argue) is a stupid thing. Sure. I mean, Spike is in love with Druscilla at this point, oh and interesting and cool. That may all go away later, but at this point of the show, Spike would feed Buffy to Druscilla with a song in his heart. And more power to his, at the time, wonderfully evil ass self.
2 years since you posted that comment, but maybe I can still be helpful! If you're on Chrome you can download and free extension from the Chrome store that adds an auto-replay button underneath every video. It's really useful! In all likelihood Firefox has one as well, but I'm not sure. It's worth a look though either way.
Not quite what you want i'm sure... But you could create a playlist then have it set to repeat all. It would be nice to just have it for any video though!
When Spike first arrive in the Buffy series (When he steps out of the car smoking) they play a song. What is the name of that song?? I've looked averywhere! Please help.
I look this up because it was one of my favorite scenes in one of my favorite episodes, and it's a horrible song. LOL! I guess the show wittled it down to the best part.
Call the police. There's some guy out there trying to bite someone!
Don't know why this comment made me miss Spike...

Although I usually don't listen to this genre of songs, I really like the songs in the Buffy series.
I can literally quote every line of spikes in this episode and most others. Including this song.
spike and buffy
I just wish The Bronze and Sunnydale was an actual place, i would actually get out of the UK just to go to Sunnydale.lol
Gosh how i love this song......
Buffy and Angel?! *scoffs*
Please! this is Spike and Buffy's song. I just see him hunting her, and staring at her while she dances in School Hard.
Besides the theme song, this is my favorite song from this awesome masterpiece series! ♥️
Yay! You have no idea how long I searched for this song!
This is a Spuffy song, why is Angel and Buffy on the pic? In this moment Spike meets Buffy!! SPUFFY forever!
Lol Season 2 was all about Buffy and Angel, there was no spuffy in season 2 so therefore not a spuffy song.
It is a Spuffy song, this is the song that plays at the Bronze when Spike is stalking Buffy for the first time.

the scene where they played this song in season 2 seems a lot different after seasons 5/6/7 than it did then
Que sonara esta canción cuando Spike vio a Buffy por primera vez, es una declaración de intención en toda regla. Jajaja.

You can't "ship" a character alone. One can't have a relationship with oneself. Except maybe if one has a multiple personality disorder. Just sayin'.
FrakkinToaster Luvva Yes, I know that, sorry, I misused the term. But my point still came across, I think.

I love the song, but it's really more Spuffy then Angel and Buffy
