Russians love Spanish culture and its musical folklore. In the 3rd act of Swan Lake, the first divertissement is the SPANISH. Tchaikovsky loved it and presented it first. It sets the mood for the dynamic Black Swan Act. It will always be my personal favorite.
Me:
Maya, you are the greatest Kitri in history. No one has ever come close to your Kitri. My mother danced flamenco, and she always said, " The Russians do it best.!!!"
Maya: GRACIAS, your mother is too kind.
I want to add that this moment in my life loving ballet is a remarkable highlight. The conversation was conducted in Castilian. I think Maya PLISETSKAYA spoke it better than Cervantes.!!!!
As for this post, B.D. it's always a great opportunity to learn about the individual tastes and interpretation of a famous musical score in these charismatic roles, which are, after all, Spanish Gypsies. Spanish music has been in many operas, and one can always identify them when played.
There is a classic Spanish and very popular score in ice skating competitions called " LA MALAGEÑA" written by a Spanish Cuban named, ERNESTO LECUONA.
I don't have a favorite BASILIO. My favorite is the one I bought the ticket to see that day. The list is long and fabulous. I will mention a few famous not featured here which I saw live onstage:

Да, он хорош), но прыжки Полунина шикарнее..Обратите внимание на то, как камера снимает..ниже сцены и сверху ( в случае с Полуниным)..это очень влияет на восприятие роста танцовщика и высоты прыжка.."ниже" всегда была съемка у Барышникова как более выигрышная..
Да, супер! Полунин тоже хорош, прямо идеальный классический вариант 🤩

Bocca, he understands classicism & and traditional ballet roles, he excels in contemporary works and with a great sense of theatre ❤❤❤. Kumakawa, he's one of the best dancers in the world ❤❤❤. All three are fabulous 😍. Kumakawa is powerful with fine technique. (He looks a little serious for Basilio). Bocca gives a beautiful classical rendering of the variation but this is in competition, not part of the complete ballet, so perhaps it's not a fair comparison. Polunin's technique is irreproachable and in addition, he is in character displaying the smiling assurance of Basilio. Note his amazing double assemblés at 1:29 and 1:40 - not many dancers achieve such an angle to the floor!

Basil has to have a sort of arrogant air about him. Plenty have done this so well. In this lot, Kumakawa wins in my opinion . Then Bocca. Thank you 🙏🙏🩰🩰👵🇦🇺
All the music should be in the same key, or we don't know if the playback is too slow or too fast.
