I don't find virtual RAM to be a full gimmick but it is marketed very wrong. 'Virtual RAM' (or 'swap' as its real name), is indeed real and has been existing ever since Linux was made, people who have been using custom ROMS or knows rooting on phones have known this feature for ages. Linux on desktop uses swap and it's active by default but the thing of why this feature became a mainstream thing just now is because Android (a branch of Linux) never used it in the first place but instead uses 'zRAM' (a small part of the physical RAM where it puts the superactive compressed high priority apps in order for it to run in the background regardless of restriction, like calls, SMS, and even receiving notifications from other apps) iOS uses swap and which is why some iPhones especially the older ones slow down significantly when the internal storage is full, while you see the newer models don't have a lot of physical RAM, an iPhone 15 for example only has 6GB of RAM. For example, an iPhone 6 only has 1 GB of RAM but you can still play ML or some heavier games on it thanks to swap and iOS's really good memory management. It uses swap to borrow some of the memory in the internal storage and temporarily use it as RAM to fit the need of the app and that has been a default setting for iOS, what makes it a bit different is that swap in iOS is dynamically adjusted based on what it needs when using such an app and it just puts it back to the internal storage again after you're done using that heavy app. For Android it is optional but it is sometimes recommended, but swap has been disabled by default back then because it significantly decreases the life of the internal storage especially phones still using EMMC, but for phones using UFS it has better tolerance for the internal storage to last a bit longer and has faster speeds. However iPhones ever since the iPhone 6s is already using NVMe storage which is One of the fastest types of memory out there and that gave very smooth and consistent transitioning of memory allocation when using swap on iOS. This demonstrates why hardware is more important than software. The software will always be limited by hardware. If an application can process 8K video and your monitor only has a resolution for High Definition, obviously you will never be able to see 8K on that monitor. I went for a default of 12 GB RAM even though it is expandable upto 18GB max because if you have a large memory bank (ROM) like a 256GB or 512GB device, you have to have big RAM. Imagine RAM as little workers on a farmland. You ask them to only pick specific crops that are ready for harvest and leave the rest alone to fully mature. If the farmland is big (256 GB ROM) then do you think 8 workers (8GB RAM) can cover that much space to finish your task? Bigger ROM needs bigger RAM to make work faster. What you should try investing on is proper cooling when you want to heavy game/ phone editing/ videography whole day. Less heat dissapated equals more power for the system to use. Power loss comes in the form of heat.

Sa page file ini-store ang mga resources from the RAM na hindi currently used to give way sa present or currently used resources. Ganito din ang kaso sa MemFusion or Extended RAM (whatever you call it.) For me, you don't need extended RAM if your memory is already 8GB pataas. Yun nga lang if you want simultaneous apps to be opened, you might need it. Pero kung hindi naman nagfoforce stop or nagiinitialize pabalik sa simula yung app, you don't need it. 8GB is high enough for multitasking. I highly doubt you can use the extra RAM from the ROM. Basic productivity apps hindi naman sobrang laki ng nakakain from the RAM. Gaming apps cannot use the Extended RAM. They only treat the real RAM as the resource they need.

And just to correct your term, you don't call internal storage 'ROM' because that is flat out wrong. ROM literally means 'Read Only Memory' and internal storage definitely does not work that way.

Honest review sobrang lag ng phone ko after ko i turn on yung virtual ram siguro mga 1 year na rin akong nag suffer sa sobrang lag ng phone ko kasi nga 4gb ram lang sya +4gb kahit saang laro lag sya laging may frame drop pero after i saw this kanina mga 2 hours ago i did turn off the virtual ram sobrang saya ko kasi kahit saang game smooth even sa ml naka max graphics and frames ako smooth pa rin kahit sa roblox I can't even play dress to impress with my girlfriend now sobrang smooth na nya rin and I can't believe it, i also try my pj sekai and nawala na yung lag nya sa lobby sa home even sa game sobrang unbelievable pa rin talaga. nasasa inyo na yan if gagana ba or hindi pero base on my experience sobrang help nya sakin nung tinurn off ko sya
To give you an idea, ginawa nila yang ram expansion na yan dahil nauso yung ROOTING. Para hindi mavoid ang warranty ng phone.ang nagbebenefit totally yung mga mahilig mag games Lalo sa low-end phones USO to,to boost GPU performance. Pero kain battery kahit pa 5kmah yan.😂
turn it on kung naka latest UFS or fast nVME storage ang phone mo. May benefit pa rin kahit mas mabagal yung flash storage compare sa RAM. But if your device uses eMMC, its better to turn it off, mas responsive pa nga kapag naka off Virual mmemory since reading and writing sa eMMC is as slow as a desktop HDD.
If I remember it correctly sabi ng prof ko before mas advisable na wag ng gamitin yung V-RAM since it uses the internal storage? yea, and since it is made out of slower components unlike the RAM itself di rin effective and pwede pang bumagal yung system(correct me if I'm wrong po) ganun din sa mga Desktop and laptops mas okay na mag upgrade na lang.
Turned off memfusion ko.
Beautifully tutorial & review video, VRam is a sham & a Gimmick, OEMs just need to have variable hardware specs when selling phones, like Oppo A series where A9x has more Ram & Memory than A3x or A1x Also, please also do a video on refresh rates, I feel like 90Hz vs 120Hz is negligible
Lods, usapang laptop naman Sana?? I want my laptop to be as clean as new from the box pag ginamit ko.. Which is better pay mag factory reset: CLOUD REINSTALL or LOCAL REINSTALL?? NOTE: Mas OK sakin MABURA LAHAT NG Downloaded Apps / created FILES NA GINAWA KO kapag I-factory reset ko Para parang brand new parin ang feeling pag gagamitin ko ulit.
Base on my experience, mem fusion or virtual ram or what you call it is just a gimmick. Lalo na kapag long gaming ka. Depends din sa type ng Storage between EMMC and UFS. And kapag naka on mas mabilis ma drain ang battery compare sa naka off. If you need more Ram i suggest go for higher Ram and don't depend on Mem fusion.
I have 8 gb RAM + 8 gb ram extension thing sa Tecno Pova 5 Pro, does it still need to be on or off? Dami kasi akong nakikitang comments na puro sayings "on" or "off"
I honestly turn it off, as I use an IQOO Z7 with 12gb of ram. Its more than enough and a huge increase from my last phone which is a realme 3 4/64. I don't multitask that heavily but knowing I have 12gb of ram reduces one struggle I had with my last phone.
They're generally isn't any problem when you multitask with 8 gigs of ram or 6gb if you lightly multitask. Virtual mem can only be used for phones with 4 gigs or less but anything above that is fine.
Prolly the only use ng VRAM is if may game kang gagamit ng almost your entire physical RAM, and you need to turn keep other minor apps ON like messenger/teams, or other add-on apps para hindi mag crash yung nilalaro mo. Pero bihira naman yung ganung sitwasyon.
I wish it was that easy but unfortunately, swap doesn't directly work that way or that properly on phones, although this doesn't apply to all Android phones but this kind of problem is more often on Chinese branded phones that just makes gimmick OS features but actually doesn't do anything. In the end the OS still needs to decide which apps need to be compressed for swap and which ones that don't and sometimes especially if the OS is not optimized to do such a thing it just makes a whole new mess of unoptimized tasks, the OS will take some time to process it on which is which needs to be swapped and that makes the phone unresponsive. Try using a low-end Android phone like a Tecno Spark Go with that kind of +RAM feature and you will still see your apps closing and crashing even with swap or virtual RAM turned on because it is still the developers job to optimize the OS regarding the 'swapiness' capability on how much it has to keep swapping RAM more often. There's no point having a lot of RAM and/or swap if it's not optimized to swap all of them, one of them, or nothing at all.
Worth it naman talaga ang MEMFUSION he hindi gimik, na experience ko yan, sa NBA2K20 pag naka off ang MEMFUSION ko ma lag ang NBA2K20 ko, pero pag naka on smoothly cya, 4gb ram 64rom ang smartphone kopo MEMFUSION worth it yan, chismis lang iyon na gemik lang 🙂👍
Well di naman talaga need ng vram kung may 8 gb ka na or overall, dehins na talaga need ng vram since for me, more on gimmick lang to like the extra camera na macro na 2 mp lang na unusable. So if we want to get more ram, get a phone na may hardware ram ba medyo may kamahalan since legit yung paggamit ng ram sa mga phones na yun.

kung ang storage mo ay eMMC always turn it off walang benefit babagal lang ang phone, kung UFS... medyo?? tingnan ninyo na lang sa day to day operation ng phone
for short if you are a gamer then disable it but if you are multitasker or you use ram heavy apps then enable it
Hi Sir nice to meet you po in our store sa Glorietta you ordered signature fruit tea 😊
Hi! Thanks! Sarap nung drinks ni 19 Degrees.
hindi na discuss kung ano yung long term effect ng vram. so yung storage nyo may limit yan ng number of writes and rewrites pag na reach nya yun limit nya hindi ka na makaka pag rewrite magiging permanent na yung data. so pag ginamit mo na vram un storage mo araw araw nag wwrite at rewrite yung storage mo, in turn mas mabilis nya marereach yung limit nya. lalo na sa mga smaller storage. good luck :)
Sa infinix note 30 vip po mas maganda po ba naka off or on memory expansion?
To give you an idea, ginawa nila yang ram expansion na yan dahil nauso yung ROOTING.
turn it on kung naka latest UFS or fast nVME storage ang phone mo. May benefit pa rin kahit mas mabagal yung flash storage compare sa RAM. But if your device uses eMMC, its better to turn it off, mas responsive pa nga kapag naka off Virual mmemory since reading and writing sa eMMC is as slow as a desktop HDD.
ufs 3.1 is it good to turn it on?
If I remember it correctly sabi ng prof ko before mas advisable na wag ng gamitin yung V-RAM since it uses the internal storage? yea, and since it is made out of slower components unlike the RAM itself di rin effective and pwede pang bumagal yung system(correct me if I'm wrong po) ganun din sa mga Desktop and laptops mas okay na mag upgrade na lang.
Yun very nice review Sir Rich,, and it's very important to know and guide as well sa mga meron ram extension ang kanilang phone❤💯😊
Sa Tecno Camon 20 pro 5g which is better po turn on or off yung memory expansion?

Buy big ram big storage & disregard virtual ram advertise ...😁

Yung virtual memory kung on o off? Depende.
If you have 12 GB of RAM better turn off virtual ram expansion. No app can reach up to 12GB.
Turned off memfusion ko.
Beautifully tutorial & review video,
VRam is a sham & a Gimmick,
OEMs just need to have variable hardware specs when selling phones, like Oppo A series where A9x has more Ram & Memory than A3x or A1x
Also, please also do a video on refresh rates, I feel like 90Hz vs 120Hz is negligible
Lods, usapang laptop naman Sana??
I want my laptop to be as clean as new from the box pag ginamit ko..
Which is better pay mag factory reset:
CLOUD REINSTALL or
LOCAL REINSTALL??
NOTE:
Mas OK sakin MABURA LAHAT NG Downloaded Apps / created FILES NA GINAWA KO kapag I-factory reset ko Para parang brand new parin ang feeling pag gagamitin ko ulit.
local....mahirap pag cloud, MS has spywares...hahahaha....
Note 30 4g. Mas hindi frame drops sa ml pag naka on memfusion, mas mataas pa lahat antutu pag naka on.
ilock mo ung app pra ndi nagrerefresh
Naka off poba kayo?

Base on my experience, mem fusion or virtual ram or what you call it is just a gimmick. Lalo na kapag long gaming ka. Depends din sa type ng Storage between EMMC and UFS. And kapag naka on mas mabilis ma drain ang battery compare sa naka off. If you need more Ram i suggest go for higher Ram and don't depend on Mem fusion.
True Mag kaiba kc Un Speed ng ram & rom
I have 8 gb RAM + 8 gb ram extension thing sa Tecno Pova 5 Pro, does it still need to be on or off?
Dami kasi akong nakikitang comments na puro sayings "on" or "off"
@@D4rkSpazeoff
I honestly turn it off, as I use an IQOO Z7 with 12gb of ram. Its more than enough and a huge increase from my last phone which is a realme 3 4/64. I don't multitask that heavily but knowing I have 12gb of ram reduces one struggle I had with my last phone.
Same, I bought the z7 a week ago. I was thinking of turning it off, should I do too? I have same variant as yours
@@hafidzz4923 I suggest yes, virtual memory is far slower than real ddr ram anyways
They're generally isn't any problem when you multitask with 8 gigs of ram or 6gb if you lightly multitask. Virtual mem can only be used for phones with 4 gigs or less but anything above that is fine.
What's the watch name
So if we want to get more ram, get a phone na may hardware ram ba medyo may kamahalan since legit yung paggamit ng ram sa mga phones na yun.
thank you sir.

Much better parin yung pysical lang
Kahit may extended RAM, nag cclose parin yung background apps.
I have the s21 ultra with 12gigs of RAM and naka on ang RAM plus 4GB so total is 16 gig RAM. Makes no difference 🤷 5 apps opened and nagcclose na yung iba sa background. Wala ding way para malaman if nagagamit ba talaga yung extended RAM like hindi naman siya nagpapakita sa RAM and Storage widgets.
