I don't know the first year they became available, but it has been years. I am glad to be your first introduction into the technology. Thanks for the comment.
My two cents. Turboprops are more expensive size for size than straight turbines. You have a gearbox and a high energy propeller; blade strike can require a serviceability check at a manufacture service center. Although I don't have an actual total cost, here are some of the big-ticket items. The PC-21 comes as an ARF+ (Painted) with already installed components such as electric scale landing gear, Cockpit, lighting, tanks and hardware. Wind-RC / JMB-Jets PC-21XXL ARF: $6495.00 plus shipping costs KingTech Turbines K100TP-G4+: $3990.00 plus shipping costs 5 Blade Propeller: $259.00 5 Blade Spinner: $200.00 You still need exhaust nozzles, servos, receiver/receivers, gyro, batteries and other items. Build time estimate: 14 to 25 hours
@@DesertFoxProductions Pretty wild. I have to admit, for a moment during the initial spooling of the turbine, the blades looked as tho they were gonna sort of auto-rotate, and so began my dissapointment. As soon as I realized it was a legit turbo-prop, I knew there would be significant cost associated. Very, very cool indeed.
They are legit! www.kingtechturbines.com/products/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1 www.jetcat.de/en/productdetails/produkte/jetcat/produkte/hobby/spt10_rx
