I like the removable doors. The only way I think you could improve is by adding a brass or teflon washer to the pins just so the door hinges don’t wear out or squeak overtime 👍🏽

Kyle could make another hinge pin on the top part of the inner hinges and use a hook on top of the outer hinges. I believe a hook will still allow the door to be installed and removed while keeping his current design, only adding more security. Those added hooks/pins would make the hinges stronger. The hook could cam as the door closes removing more play, if there may be any. It might help the hinges last longer, as well as would the other recommended brass sleeves.
either extend that pin all the way through both holes in the door hinge, or add a second tab to each body hinge so you have 2 pins per hinge. and the body lines on the door are great, dont cover them up with any kind of rub rail, imho..
you should remove the window section from the doors. attach those parts to the main body so the only part that is swinging is the lower section but when the door is closed it still looks like it has a window surround.
I shaved the handles on the Frontier and reworked the lock mechanism to lock and control the latching mech. All you see is the key lock itself. I can shoot you some pictures if needed. Pretty easy to figure out.
Looks great. I would Tig a wrench (grab lift handle) on each door (not in the way of your arm if rested on it). If you do it after the door is done you'll know where the center of gravity is. Just a thought. Have a great weekend.
one thing you could do to improve those quick release hinges. like our aussie falcons and many euro cars you could attach another braceand pin to the top of the hinge pin holes having 4 pins instead of 2 for a more sturdier and less stress on those pins
Hey Kyle 4 door Jeep Wrangler has some billet inserts with holes for the door handles that might just work for this with a little modification. Aftermarket of course.
hi knock the pins out of the hinges and replace them with the hinge bolt from a e90 bmw you should be able to drill the hinge pieces to to suite the bmw bolt and tap the top side of your hinge if you where to look at a e90 e91 or e92 you will see what i mean and the bolt has a small torks head so would not look out of place cheers from down under ps the car is looking killer
Maybe fabricate a super interesting, but non-functional handle that complements the aesthetics if you don't want to shave them completely... Then put door poppers on it. Non-functional one's would probably give you the look without the headache of having to create the linkage.
if you take another set of doors and cut off the front section where the hinges mount and the front part of the outer skin, you can make covers to hid the hinges.
Just an idea to consider. A single electronic push button on the door. Actuated from the catch so there are no wires to disconnect when you remove the door. Obviously you would need a great connection. You can do it. 'Do work son'.

Build your own flush mount handle, maybe add some dimple holes in them to break up the panel. This way you could make them any size you want. Could be as simple as a pivot point and a flat plate. when you push the top part of the handle it unlatched the door
I did the removable doors on my bronco, get the old pins out, 80s gm truck door pins will will slide easily into/out of the ford door pin hole without binding or allowing the door to sag.
Leaving a rearward portion of the body hinge frame should keep it safe enough. Just anticipating your solution... I'm thinking welding the factory pin, or a chunkier one, in the door hinge heading downwards might work out strongest.
Have you thought of putting raw brass flat bar (contoured of course) in the side trim area of the doors and around the door frame arounf the windows as a contrast/highlight to the bear metal. Just a thought. Love the series
Others have mention KindigIt handles, which was my first thought. Not sure if Tesla handles are plastic or metal, and I've never seen how they operate inside the door. For hiding or eliminating the molding structure, I've thought about just welding a strip across the face vs. riveting.
Just a piece of advice after watching you cut that sleeve with the bandsaw. Brought back memories of myself doing the same thing. Only the blade grabbed the material and I had no time to get my finger out of the way. I didn't lose it but it's now numb and was the most painful thing I have ever experienced. Use a tool to hold the material. Safety first
Where your fabbed door pins are may want to re-enforce that tab cause its more weight on one side of the hinge rather than the hinge as a whole. Should probably still run a bushing on the pins cause your door holes will want to woller out bigger over time. Talk to your cnc guy that done the intake about a custom handle if you dont want a huge flat space. Also when you closed the door its alot of deflection towards the core of the door. Someone will say reflection but from a stainless fabricator and polisher perspective i watch for alot of deflection in material. Removable door idea is awesome though. 👍

i think first gen mustang mach 1 door handles would look good. it'll allow you to shave the indent where the door handles are, and provide an additional pop adding to the overall style you're going for.
When you mentioned recessed metal door handles i thought about 1992ish audi 80/100 models, then you described the shape of decorative trim on the lower door, and i was like, yep definitely audi. While some of the handle parts might be plastic I believe entire outside parts are metal.
I think for the body lines on the doors/fenders/quarters you shouldn't rivet anything over them, but instead, weld some steel in that channel... Grind, sand... Then you've still got that fb contour, but with a lower profile, much slicker, all metal look!
I know its a show car but I would assume when its driven its gonna be more of a cruiser than a race car..so what's the plan to keep IAT's from being out of control with no intercooler ?

Definitely kindig door handles, or another option is you can use any plastic handle and paint it silver then brush it to look like metal or plate it and brush the nickel plating.
Make your own handle and shave the door lock hole. Maybe just make the surface flat with the door and leave a small gap to grasp it under, you still have a handle but keep your metal finish across the whole door.
I was imagining a removable pin or maybe a pin on both brackets w/ the door brackets sitting on top of both of the jam brackets. Hard to explain, but it would be the same as what you did just doubled up. After watching the rest of your video, it looked like your design is going to work just fine though. Keep up the good work
HQ to HZ Holden door handles from 71 to 78 Australian cars look on the internet if they interest you , More on the Chevy side as they also come out with 350ci old school chevy in them . But i supposed you need the cut outs too for the door handles to fit right . Just hit in HQ Holden on youtube , Looking great too your build .

How bout door handles off an old AMC they are flat and rectangle. And at least some brass bushings on the hinge cause the steel togther will whob the hole out

I have a 46 truck and my hinge pins are the trailer hitch pins with the safety rectangle on it unclip it pull straight out

That’s almost the same concept for the removable doors on some Baja trucks. Just that the trucks have their pins removable as yours is welded in
Might be difficult to find but, have a look for Fiat Barchetta door handles. They’re pretty sexy as far as door handles go.
Will those hinges actually support the doors once they have glass and all the other stuff a drivers door needs?
Look at the Astro van handles the have a similar shape, but a lower profile. They could work?
Eddies Motor sports makes exterior billet door handles and they make any other part out machined aluminum you could possibly need

Flat space, go with it. Shave it and drop in an electro servo door opener, and put the side mirrors half way down the hood.

2005 pontiac gto door handles here in oz they call it a holden monaro you can get them in chrome but they are still plastic but they are flush

Your could try to use the mk1 mx5 door handles as they have the metal finish and aren't too big.

90s Mazda miata have a really neat small door handle and its metal
I would think a safety pin would be an added bonus just to make sure they don’t come off. You know , like a cotter pin but one you could remove easy.

You could just about open the front of the door up and make an air scoop out of it and direct to the driver through the door cavity.
