Try the last records "Ëmëhntëhtt-Ré", "Slag Tanz" and "Theuz hamtaahk trilogie", live at Trianon. Those records from the 21th century are really amazing, and they achieve a long time creation. Bonne écoute !

Putain, c'était bien, il y a plein de gens qui ont disparus, je les ai vu en concert à Besançon, au cinéma Lux, 1000 places, à peu près, dans les années 70, Vander nous a fait un solo de batterie de 45 minutes.. en enlevant sa tunique sans arrêter son solo, c'était du délire, MONUMENT 🙏🙏🙏

Ca serait génial d'avoir une revisitation contemporaine du premier album sur disque, avec toute la maturité acquise. Cette version de Kobaia est fabuleuse.

I just read an article about them from a 1973 magazine & decided to check them out. I am completely blown away!
ET au TRITON ET avec le regretté JAMES MC GAW. J'étais à un des concerts de chaque semaine de ces concerts, période des enregistrements des coffrets vidéos Mythes & Légendes Epok ! Ce fameux soir, très tôt, je sortais de ma voiture en arrivant aux LILAS. De là, j'ai quelques centaines de mètres à pied jusqu'au Triton. Je passe à coté du métro et soudain, je vois sortir Klaus blasquiz du métro. wouah, quel agréable choc, moi qui gamin idolâtrais MAGMA. ET JE TOMBE SUR SON CHANTEUR DE L'EPOQUE! Il voit mon regard brillant de joie, on se dit bonjour tout simplement et je ne sais plus ce que je lui ai bafouillé avant d'arriver à la salle. C'était il y a déjà presque 17 ans. C'était génial ce soir là!
Version fabuleuse ... rock, salsa, jazz, classique, lyrisme ... du pur génie

James, nous ne t'oublierons jamais. Je t'ai découvert le 22 octobre 1997 à Eysines (33) salle du Vigean. Le 1er morceau de la soirée, c'était justement: Kobaïa ! Tu m'as serré la main à la pause, lors des concerts du Trianon des 12-13-14 Mai 2000. J'étais timide. tu n'étais pas obligé de venir vers moi. On s'est revus à d'autres pauses de concerts; comme à Carmaux au R.I.O. festival de Cap découverte avec ton comparse Bubu; puis au bar du Triton, lors de la 1ère projection de Nihao Hamtaï, le film de la tournée chinoise. Je ne savais pas encore que tes tournées chinoise-japonaise furent les ultimes avec Magma. Un dernier coucou de passage au 1er rang parmi les spectateurs de la scène de Paris-Olympia le 3 février 2018 du Mëtalik Orkestraah, et l'album 'La fin des Temples'. Tu es à jamais parmi les Kombattants de la Zeuhl, chaque fois que nous te reverrons sur ce document, comme en d'autres. Ziha

I was lucky enough to see them in San Francisco a few years back with James MacGaw on guitar. He was incredible! Still the best guitarist Magma ever had, in my opinion of course. I have this on DVD. I highly recommend it.

So spaced out. Tose offbeat rounds that meet in the middle beats are so inspiring to Tool. Danny Corey said he had never heard this stuff before King Grimson Discipline. Some kind of afrobeat that takes them all the circle and makes sense at last ( I'm not familiar with the technical lingo and terms.)

Fantastique version de Kobaia, du debut a la fin! La voix de Klaus Blasquiz me donne la chair de poule, et cette facon de placer son chant legerement en arriere donne une assise et de la puissance a tout l'ensemble - sans minimiser le talent extraordinaire de tout l'equipage et du capitaine Vander bien sur! Vander la locomotive, la basse tellurique qui lui donne une assise innebranlable et cree une tension palpable, tous les zicos virtuoses et sensibles qui deploient le morceau!

Un grand moment de musique tout simplement! on s'en fout de l'accent de Klaus! MAG(MA) NIFIQUE
Dans la 2 eme partie lente , là on se rend compte (si on connait ette musique un minimum , le jazz )que Christian est vraiment un batteur de jazz , son swing, son drive "à La Elvin Jones ,notes "en l'air" ,décalages rythmiques ; j'avais étudié cela au CIM avec Guy Hayat , et pour le style "Elvin Jones " plus précisément avec le batteur Charles Saudrais mon ami et l'ami de Christian ... Christian à la culture rythm'n blues binaire et jazz ternaire et afrocubaine et bien d'autres ! ... Klaus chante superbement ici ! Je ne m'en lasserais jamais de ce morceau, le thème est beau, ainsi que l'harmonie...le son d'ensemble super original ! On est dans du "grand MAGMA" ici !
Since their 1970s heyday, Magma has ranked with any of the greatest American progressive groups. I find them more inspired and dedicated than any other. To have their original charismatic singer Klaus Blasquiz back at long last is a thrill. His voice has a distinctive color that gave Magma its true identity. Fantastic group.
Please note, though, that they're NOT American, but French - from France, Europe!

I always thought the vocals on this song sounded very odd on the original studio version and not at all like Kobaian--now I know why!
(the original vocals were too buried and of too poor a recording quality for me to make out any of the words)

Has anyone ever noticed the similarities in themes between parts of Kobaia and the Japanese "Ringo no Oiwake" (リンゴ追分/RINGO OIWQKE - 美空ひばり / MISORA HIBARI - UA-cam) Try minute 3:20 to hone in on the theme). If Japanese enka seems like a distant stretch for a French band, consider that Ringo no Oiwake was picked up by jazz musicians in the 1960s, so the theme was out there.
