I revisited my old school before everything got bulldozed and my entire body felt the same way it did when I walked through the halls, memories and tingles all came flooding back including the overall way I felt being there which was mostly a mixture of hope & fear. I've never felt that way again except the 2-3 times I was actually inside the building.

I remember in 3rd grade I was in the robotics club and we had a championship to go to and had to go to a different school, it felt so weird and it was raining to, which helped make it faeel even weirder. We didn't win sadly :/

Liminal spaces tend to be caused by 2 things:
    1. The image is in a state that it normally isn't, such as a playground that's empty and dark, or a mall that has nobody inside yet still has lights on.
    2. The image is made to feel familiar and make it feel like you were there, when you weren't. Examples include most similarly-designed places such as diners or grocery stores, and images that don't give enough information to be easily located, such as a non-descriptive hallway.

True whenever i went to the theater to see a movie like around 9 pm after the movie ended it felt incredibly surreal, it was set like this: every store was closed there was no one else but you, there were a few lights still on and the streets were empty too, it looked like the perfect setting for a zombie apocalypse. And i just get the urge to just get out of there as quickly as possible.

So, here is the physiology behind the dreamcore photos :]
These pictures are pictures of liminal spaces mixed in with noglista or weird /off-putting objects.
Those mixed together would make the dreamcore/weirdcore aesthetic.
    What are liminal spaces?
Liminal spaces are places or works of art that have a feeling of loneliness. There's no main focus, and there's no one there. They aren't supposed to be noticed, and they are very uncanny.
The backrooms are the most famous example of a liminal space probably.
There are two types of liminal spaces. Emotional and physical.
An emotional example is a divorce or the loss of a job. It's the disorientation between a ride of passage.
A physical liminal space, to put it simply, a liminal space is an unsettling transitional space. (A transitional space is a place where limited time is spent and it was not important enough to remember.)
Our brains are hardwired to know the context. These pictures have no context whatsoever. When these places were made for something. And when they're not being put to use, they look uncanny and unsettling. For example, a school should have children in, so should a store. When it's abandoned, it looks disturbing. So if an airport that's abandoned, (could be intact or not) It looks terrifying to you.
Some liminal spaces include an empty parking lot, a house with all its furniture removed, an abandoned mall, a playground at night, an empty school,
But an empty forest isn't familiar or strange because nature is typically abandoned. But when it's obviously artificial, you wonder why it's even there or why there's no one there. "That kind of stuff should be the background of a kid's show or something like that!" There's a word for this sort of stuff, it's called Kenopsia. Kenopsia is the eeriness of the place left behind.
The lighting is heavily impacting these images. Unnatural lighting like fluorescent lights and street lamps. The void behind the images makes it even more unsettling. The artificial lighting is what makes it familiar. Some of the lighting is the same generated by an unprofessional camera flash setting. Like cheap family-owned cameras. The familiarity also has a word, it's called Anemoia. The definition is "Nostalgia for a time you've never known. If they are similar to you, then you've probably been to a place that has the same items, or just similar in general. Maybe you've seen similar places from photos online as a kid. These places have a pattern, they're old. But not that old. If you were born between the 90's-200's these are probably familiar to you. Some examples and what they match up to:
    - An old mall, you've probably seen one like that on a show
-The heavily edited and saturated unnatural backgrounds are like something you would see on a kids show
-The empty rolling hills are like some default windows background.
-Playgrounds, you've probably been to the following as a kid
    -slides
    -arcades
    -party rooms
and so on and so on
    -maybe a sonic drive-through,
    - a gas station
-images like the backrooms are probably empty storage rooms or offices
It's very likely you guys are just unlocking memories you forgot until now.
It doesn't have to be an exact copy, it just has the same atmosphere.
They're familiar because they're the things that seemed unimportant to remember.
Many of these photos are low-quality and make them even more nostalgic.
The presentation also makes it matter.
If these photos were in your regular feed, you'd probably scroll past them. But with the title, "Gateways that lead to an alternate reality" draws attention to the unsettling details. The music is important as well. Sometimes, they make the music nostalgic as well as distorted. You might have heard something similar, for example, an 8-bit song that slowed down and 'ruined' to the point where it's unsettling. Or they distort the song too much, you can't even recognize it but it's still familiar.
    Now, weirdcore images.
Weirdcore images usually include a lot of editing or there are unreasonable designs. The lack of context makes it unsettling. A weirdcore image would include stuff that might appear on r/crappydesigns if you really think about it, or it's just weird the way it was built. It's the off-putting objects that make it creepy. Like a bunch of walls that have no purpose with windows that would have no use whatsoever. An office basement with very VERY little lighting, you would wonder why anyone would work there. Maybe that REALLY famous image of the indoor bath with the decaying walls and green-tinted water with those REALLY weird pillars. You would wonder why anyone would even swim in there.
Liminal spaces are more common than you think, you just have to search the right places. If you're looking to take dreamcore pictures, now is the perfect time since we're in the middle of a pandemic. So you just have to follow these rules (everything I mention above) to make your own. Happy dreaming everyone!
    Nick, OUT B)

I’ve actually seen a place irl that really reminded me of Liminal Spaces. It was this little section in what is basically a dying mall (only a few stores are left). It was called “The Fun Zone” or something along those lines. It’s basically this dimly lit room which I believe was a small arcade at one point. There are only two games left. One was a claw machine and the other was some kind of racing game. The lights in there flickered on and off and made a low humming noise. It was creepy stuff. It’s one thing to look at these places in pictures but it’s a whole other experience seeing these places in real life.

I feel the one about dead malls SO much. I have one I go to that just gives me ALL the wrong feelings when I walk through. Sometimes music is playing through quiet, distant-sounding speakers, sometimes it's total silence. 9 out of 10 times there won't be anyone there but me and the storeowners that don't even acknowledge me when I walk in. There's a church I've never seen anyone go into, or out of, or ever even seen their lights on. A daycare in the same situation. No decorations except awkwardly placed posters and local ads near the entrance, an empty cart in the middle of a hall that always has a "for rent" sign, some giant crappy character balloons like Spiderman and Pikachu that float near storefronts, and a sort of platform near the middle of the mall where they put some random plants.
What weirds me out most about that mall are two things: One is how the stores look when they're closed up (In the middle of the day, mind you.) Those shutters that look like cages come down and the store is left in the dark. One of them that is ALWAYS closed is a dress store. Those mannequins in the dark, no matter how fancy they dress... They give me the shivers XD And the other thing: There's an entire section of that mall that was blocked off, and not very seamlessly. Just a plain hunk of drywall covering a very obvious hall where the mall used to continue. I know it wasn't blocked for any sinister reason, cause I remember walking in that section as a kid, but I just hate how it looks now. So awkward and bare looking.
Edit: WTF I found people talking about this mall on Reddit!? Aight I'm just gonna link it here then XD www.reddit.com/r/deadmalls/comments/cv050f/slowly_dying_richmond_mall_richmond_ky/ glad I'm not the only one who finds it worth talking about.

Where as 'normal' images are cheery and bright, this is the polar opposite. It may be the lack of humanoid subjects, or the bad weather conditions these photos are captured in (fogginess, darkness) alerting in our brains that somehow, there may be something that we can't see, but also somewhere that looks too similar to an event that you never really remembered, but also really forgot.
The combination of all of these factors, makes for an elusive image that our brains can't really comprehend.

Hey! I just wanted to say that I love your videos! And another thing. Could you tell me where you got that first image from? Please? Because it really looks like a playground from a city which is located around 30km away from where I live. I often went there with my parents when I was younger. However, they made this stupid rule that children under the age of 10 can't go in there, so I can't play there anymore. And not just that, but that child on top looks a lot like younger me. I had almost the same clothes like those. Can you please tell me where you found it? And on the site that you found it, does it say any data or something about it?
EDIT: Nevermind! After about 10 minutes of research, I found an old picture of me there that was taken 6 years ago, in 2014, and even though these two places look INCREDIBLY similar, they are not the same. The slides in my picture are only blue, green and yellow. While these ones have mixed colors. And a lot of things are different as well. However, I'm still creeped out by how similar me and that kid look like when compared. The almost same clothes, the short hair. Really creeps me out. The only difference is that that kid is a bit chubbier and shorter than I was at the time. Anyway, thanks!

I remember when I went to one of those Halloween Pop-Up shops, it had a space reserved for every Halloween when the store would open up. They had these big barrier things that cut from the actual store with costumes and stuff to the rest of the empty space of the huge convince store. The lighting was yellowish and I remember peeking back there as a kid and having this weird feeling about it. There was a few costumes and boxes back there close to the actual store area but the rest was just wide open space with some pillars and nothing else. It legit kind of freaked me out because there was one of the random Ghost Face masks ways away from the actual store and it was propped up on a pillar. Seeing the last images about the empty convince store kind of triggered this memory.

I feel like all of these could be put in one horror game and I’d like to watch Markiplier play it or have them in my dreams/nightmares and I’d still want to kind of explore these places...
Regarding towards the first sequence, ‘indoor playgrounds’ I have a story:
during my childhood (Around 5-10 years old), we used to almost frequently visit this one restaurant with an indoor playground that kind of extends to the back wall of the restaurant. In front of the back wall, there was a little room which connects to the inside of the playhouse and the outer part of it which was bordered by the tall playhouse fence. In that room, there was an electric keyboard (musical) and some anklung (traditional Indonesian musical instrument) which were hung on top of the keyboard. Anyone was able to access those instruments and play with them! However, days went by and the indoor playground became more and more restricted...
