Yup. Season 1 was great, but not accurate to manga. Root A was a random travesty that nobody liked, since animation was terrible in comparison and the story went nowhere. Then :RE got shafted by the production being way too cautious, and it was adapted panel-to-scene, meaning it did nothing with the fact that it's an anime. So it's a sequel to a manga and not actually a sequel to the existing anime.
I think a good studio like madhouse can make tokyo ghoul They were behind death note and monster They can handle tokyo ghoul well JUST THEY SHOULD BE FAITHFUL TO THE MANGA
I do hope if it gets a reboot they go with Ishida Sui's more "watercolor/painterly" style. It always sucks when interesting artstyles get homogenized to look more appealing to a broader audience. Could you imagine if they did that to Mob Psycho 100?
Tokyo ghoul's anime shouldn't be that high on that list. Manga definitely but not the anime. Hopefully a reboot can happen one day. It's definitely requested a lot by fans
Would be even better if the reboot polished the last story arc, cus it was rushed as all hell. Still managed to give a satisfying conclusion tho, unlike many others (looking at you Boku no Hero)
If TG got a PROPER anime adaptation, I feel like it could've been one of the very few HORROR anime that actually works- on top of being another modern classic
Its possible. Ao no exorcist got its route back to the manga's canon. And so dxd. Already 2 cases, so we can hope the REAL season 2 of Tokyo Ghoul will be better.
If Tokyo Ghoul ever got an anime remake that actually follows the damn Manga story, it'll be popular for a LOT more than just it's memes and opening, as great as those things are.
"2014 was a shit year in anime" Mushishi, Ping Pong, Haikyuu, Jojo Part 3, Space Dandy, Barakamon, Tokyo Ghoul (the good season), Your Lie in April, Parasite, Shirobako, Fate UBW, Akatsuki no Yona say hi I'll even throw in Akame ga Kill since its Connor's favourite anime 😂
Zankyo no terror too.. literally 2014 is the only season of anime that I remember... (and I dont watch thta much anime anymore...actually i dont watch anime at all these days..)
That comparison of both Chainsaw Man and Tokyo Ghoul makes sense seeing how both are horror anime/manga and both main characters (Denji and Kaneki) have suffered a lot in both stories as they were abused by their only parents, their first dates went horribly wrong as their crushes tried to kill them, they’ve both been tortured a lot and even lost their humanity. Plus both Reze and Touka look kind of the same as well as the fact that they work at a cafe.
Tokyo Ghoul would of been up there with FMAB, HXH and AOT regarding some of the best animes of all time and would be in a lot of peoples top 10 animes if it ever had a good anime adaptation
Lol, what? The manga isn't even rated that highly. It absolutely wouldn't be among the best even if there was a good adaptation considering the first season wasn't even good.
I feel like we are going to get a TG reboot in like ~10 years, maybe a bit later. It has so much potential, so many more people will be into anime then, and you will have a ton of fans who will watch it purely because they watched the original when they were young that it’s pretty much guaranteed to make a ton of money
I had only maybe 5 to 6 total anime watched when I started Tokyo Ghoul (1st season) anime , it got me into binge watching a bunch of anime for the next couple of years. Wish they would remake it the right way, such a shame the way it turned out.
Damn right i’m still talking about it! One of the greatest manga ever made (yes i have read berserk, vinland saga and vagabond) had one of the worst anime adaptations. Season 1 was phenomenal, Season 2 went off the rails a bit and that led to the absolute shit show of Season 3 and 4. Such a shame, i really hope it gets a remake.
I remember listening to this one banger opening and seeing it went for a anime called Domestic Girlfriend. Checked out the first episode but haven’t gone back since I got caught up on other shows. But damn that opening is fire.
It's incredibly popular right now. It's just that the fandom right now is so insufferable that no one wants to watch it. There are tards in every fandom tho
As an "edgy" 15-year-old, that one of the first anime's I've watched was Tokyo Ghoul, I thought this was the coolest/greatest show of all time....right next to Kill la Kill....🤦♂
I liked Tokyo Ghoul. It is confusing as fuck after first season and the quality drops, but the animation and characters are amazing. Just need to be rebooted with better focus on the story. Still waiting for Ufotable taking on that job.
I mean the RWBY Red trailer still has significantly more views that the actual show ever had. Which is completely valid, still a bigger banger than the show ever was, except maybe season 3
I got into anime last year and was very quickly hooked. I read manga too, but hadn’t read the TG manga and loves the first season. I haven’t watched more yet but from what I’ve heard I kind of plan on reading the manga for the rest.

I’ve literally never met a person who has seen Tokyo Ghoul, but tons of people have seen Hunter x Hunter. That is really strange. Also for names, are you going to call Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Rise of the Planet of the Apes 2. Also Demon Slayer is currently way more popular than My Hero Academia in the west, they just don’t use MAL, and hot take: it is deserved.
Tokyo Ghoul was extremely popular years ago. Mostly with casuals and there might’ve been manga fans carrying the hype too. Some overlap with the anime fandom to a degree might’ve been there as well. Though, I’ll agree it was possibly a time and place thing. I remember getting into the anime in a strange first anime kind of way. Except it was far from my first show. I watched it a couple years after s1 and it was my bridge to understanding the new anime community at the time. The fans that heavily only watched the newest shows coming out at the time. I was a bit of an older fan who was still consuming media from a 2000s type of perspective. Whatever I found online, in dub if I could find it, and watched shows from different time periods regularly. Maybe several more from the 2000s since that’s when I became a fan, but I wasn’t unwilling to try something older.I found it hard to connect to all the Tokyo Ghoul, Madoka, SAO, AOT, NGNL, Steins; Gate fans during that time. It wasn’t incredible, but it was entertaining enough and helped me get why the new fans liked these shows. I was interested in the concept and the music helped. It seemed I had a bit of edge left in me to get something out of the series. It may still be popular if it were to have a better adaptation.
if it came back with a good remake, it would be more popular than before, so many people would watch it especially when its a faithful anime, everyone knows it deserves a good anime, even people who havent watched or read it
I asked my father to read the manga that he would love the manga. And indeed, he loves it 😂 Everytime we went into a convention he asked : "Is it a kagune ? Are they ghouls ?" Lol Tokyo Ghoul is such a manga that needs more attention, truly a masterpiece
I am pretty sure the reason why No Game No Life didn't get a season 2 was because they took an ending from the LN and put it in way earlier than it was supposed to be so people would read the LN but that is just what I have heard
The anime was made just for the purpose of advertising the LN. Many other LN creators also do this like for example classroom of the elite which was suppoused to only have s1 but since it gained SO much popularity they continued it instead of using it for advertising like before

Ah ! Every TG fans commenting on this video 😂 You love to see it. Western fans might want the remake but they only care about Japanese fans. If Japanese fans don't care about TG, they don't do the remake
Tokyo ghoul manga is ss tier
I hope it gets the Brotherhood treatment. Season 1 was tight. Root A was terrible. :RE was panel-to-scene adapting the manga, and not using the medium of anime very well.
The people still talking about Tokyo Ghoul today are the ones who have been crying for a remake nonstop.
Most anime people that watch one piece don't use MAL
Didn't No Game No Life have some problem with plagiarism or something along those lines?
Tokyo Ghoul the anime does not deserve to be up there, but the manga is genuinely really fucking good
we talk about it until they give us better ss2
Ngl I’m very surprised DBZ isn’t up on this list.
idk how people watch anything past S1, TG the anime is nonsensical and just a chore to watch.
I recently watched Tokyo Ghoul. It was enjoyable but i soon realised i had to read the manga😅
Chojin X tho
if they actually did the anime properly it would be way better
No game no life hasn't received a second season because its TOO degen. I rewatched it recently and I still love it but MAN is it weird
Season 1 of Tokyo Ghoul was an absolute banger!!! and then it went to shit from there
