How to calculate dwell time in sealing? any specific formula for that?

Thank you for this good question. The definition of dwell time is the amount of time that the jaws spend fully closed on the film. On machines with flat sealing jaws it is typically a setting in the machine that is normally quantified in milliseconds.
Not to complicate things but merely to explain, the true value of dwell time on rotary jaws is a more complex calculation than it is with flat jaws because just a small section on the radius of the sealing jaws is engaging at a time. Film speed is the major driving factor there, since the rotation of the jaws has to closely match that. The rotation can be slowed or sped up slightly but too much in either direction will cause problems.
