Can I reuse a company name? Now, this is a really common question. We get asked by directors on a daily basis, so let's find out. So if you were a director of a limited company in a creditor's voluntary liquidation or even gone through a compulsory liquidation, you'll be banned for five years from forming, managing or promoting any business with the same or similar sounding name to that of the limited company that's gone into liquidation. The only exceptions to this are whereby one. The business is sold by a licenced insolvency practitioner, given the legally required notice. Two. You get the court's permission or three. You've already been involved with another company that's been using the same name as the liquidated company for at least a year.
