  • I got through everything it got uncovered yesterday after the trailer 1. There is not only info in the trailer but also in the official website and in the playstation blog including clear hints at the return of scoutflies and the wounding system of Monster Hunter World Iceborne plus special moves that looks like silkbind actions but using the new Hook Slinger that replaces the clutch claw. Too much info.. Too much mysteries!

    Dragons Dogma 2 used a pretty neat scarring system, where you'd slice a monster and it would actually leave a proper open-wound/scar from where you actually hit the monster, so I wonder if it's nabbed from that game (both capcom!) or if the scars wll always look the same look/graphic like in MHW

    apparently there will be many monsters creating environmental hazards like the diablos ambushing from below the sands in world...we can see it in the frames where the 3 doshaguma are being swept up in a sand hole and there appears to be some sort of leviathan/snake wyvern that is creeping underneath the sand, the big alpha doshaguma even throws that said monster at the hunter during the cienmatic (not the small herbivore that he tosses during combat, but rather the long lizard-snakey like creature that you can see glimpses of in the, what appears to be, intro cinematic when you encounter the doshaguma for the first time) i think this pretty much confirms returning monsters like the najarala and, heck, im gonna say it, lagiacrus

    Worth noting as well this looks to be a sequel to MH4 - several NPCs are either directly from or look related to characters from 4! Very cool! Caravaning an open world?

    not sure how I feel about the QTE button mashing. was never a big fan of any kind of forced cinematic in MH

    game looks cool, but im pretty worried for the combat system if every weapon is getting counters and parries baked in like in sunbreak. hopefully with the weapon swapping the movesets for individual weapons can be even more distinctive and unique than ever before

      I'm a bit worried myself about the targeting making hitting "bad" hitzones pointless to almost impossible so weakness exploit is even more a must pick and shelling fixed damage is really not a good thing... how are they going to balance all this?

      ​@@caoslayer The scoutflies seem to be all over the monster's body, so my fingers are crossed that means we'll actually be encouraged to target multiple places instead.

      The worst thing of tenderizing it was how it was done since you had to stop the hunting to use the claw.
      Here it looks it activating by hitting the monster in some place... that is what you usually try to do anyways.

      I think wounding done by focus mode? One or two times at the same part like tenderizing, depends on the weapon types?
      Focus mode just scream anime eye jutsu that let you see enemy weak points. Imagine demons slayer tanjiro sniffing skill let him see weak points.

    please please do not make me use an attack whose only use is creating weakspots. please at least make it flow into your weapon combos if it is a thing.
    i do not want it to be like the clutch claw. least favorite part of world, it breaks the pacing just to force a weak spot.

      im more interested in how and which weapon combinatons will work best.
      like taking a diffrent set of the same weapon with diffrent elements will be interesting for dual bladesor taking a range weapon so that you can fight and move away from the monster to heal

    seeing the greatsword hunter start sprinting with the sword like Frontier's extreme style was wild

      Which can also mean bad things. Valor HBG was very gamebreaking on GU, and that was basically Frontier Z Extreme HBG carried over to mainline.
      Hopefully they can find a good balance, as Frontier on Z update isn't exactly a balanced game.

    You missed the new monster type spinning in the sand pit (bottom right). It then is seen coiling around the bear and finally it’s thrown at the hunter and you can see it laying on the floor behind the hunter.

    2:00 So the hunter uses the hook to pull himself towards the monster?
    The same way we use wirebugs to pull ourselves towards monsters when using BULLET BARRAGE?!?!?!?!?!
    I think we're going to see a lot of moves that are variations of claw moves from IB and silkbinds from Sunbreak.

    Yes i was wondering about the switching weapon mechanic too. But maybe we'll have to build our set with 2 weapon in mind for example "Focus" and "Atillery" and "Capacity Boost" are great for Charge Blade/ Gunlance loadout. Hum we need to wait until trailer or the demo comes.

    Maybe only certain weapons can stay on your mount while attacking. Typical mounted weapons, like the Bowguns, Bow and Lance.

      So far looks that wounding is done by just attacking the same point of the monster... that is what you usually do while playing instead of having to do something weird like with the clutch claw

    Regarding the possibility of swapping builds on the fly to accommodate two different weapons; What if Decorations and Charms were now exclusively, or nearly exclusively, something that is attached to your weapon. So Armor would no longer have decoration slots except for maybe some Elder Dragon Armor, and instead the extra decoration skills you get would be literally attached to your weapon.
    This would let you partially switch your build out in the field, each weapon would have ~2-5 skills associated with it, and your armor could have the more general skills that always apply. It would potentially help combat the Power Creep and Skill Bloat of the past two games.
    Of course the potential problem here would be that getting specific Armor Pieces for a build might be less important, since you would only want to target the armor that has general skills.

    Really looking forward to the possibility of swap weapon attacks/ evasions. Like, you swap from melee to gun, then hunter maybe jumps back and shoots. Maybe you swap from dual blades to greatsword, it starts with a tackle or lance, and it begins with a block and maybe these can combo. You can access a unique move/mechanic of a different weapon fairly quickly, while you are fighting with your current weapon.

    Wonder how equipment and skills will look like when we can bring two very different weapons. With the existing system, unless you bring two weapons that synergize well with the same set of skills, you won't be dealing effective damage at all.

      There are many solutions. The simplest would be to make your clothing different to your skills and allowing yo equip two sets of skills... but we will not know yet.

    It seems this is the clutch claws tenderizing mechanic, but more in-depth and applies to all hits. I like that change.
    I also wonder how that focus mode will work for our favorite explosive stick. Maybe this is how we make charged shots, or finally have some type of counterattack?
    I hope we know more before the end of the year

    Thanks for the vid! I’m guessing you’ll be able to select item and armor loadouts that are tied to your 1st and 2nd weapons. Weapon and armor layers could come along with that later.

    Glad we finally got something to work with from MH Wilds. Gonna have fun with ability to switch between two weapons from the new mount. Can't wait to see how both Lance and Gunlance will play in this game.

      Technically every mh is a sequel of the previous one.
      This has been directed by the same guy behind world but there are lot of references to 4U including the Ace Lancer

    im a little bit worried about focus mode tbh, also worried about our mount being used for tracking. I hope we can still collect clues in the environment like in world. Rise did not feel good to play with lance. Been a lance main since 1 in 2004 and have seen the ups and downs. I hope lance feels similar to world.

    1:55 there is no claw or hookshot shown at any point. This "counter" was just an upward swing done from focus mode that hit a weak point, launching the monster back. From the video that capcom released that explained more on the trailer and their comment that on june 8th, we'll get another trailer, the said that certain weapons have special follow-ups and other effects depending on the weapon when they hit these weak points. Greatsword has the knockback and run, the side swipe, and the guard move they showed. But for the purpose of the video on 1:55, the only particles shown is the lightning effect on the arm that makes it look like a hookshot was used.

      2:05, you can clearly see the fired string flying back to the hunters arm while he starts running.

      @@markos50100 I time stamped the moment at which its easiest to see the wire coming back man, its 100% a wire, not lightning particles, watch it, dont just pause it at the exact timestamp, you can literally go frame by frame and see the wire flying back. It can't be more obvious man.

      ​@Tommyvang187 at 1:36, when the hunter ACTUALLY uses the hookshot, you can clearly see a brown rope AND a shadow underneath it. Nothing from 2:05 ever shows a shadow nor a brown rope coming from the hunter. Just the lightning particles that coincidentally look like it. When I saw it the first time, I thought the same, but I noticed the lightning effect continued on even after the run started. I know that we just got off rise, but not every white line is a wire. And let's say it was a hook and wire. Why would there be three lines coming from the arm if only one wire was shot. Think, man, think.
