  • At last back on location of my layout, which means I can start to work on more detail.
In this video we not only look at the latest stage, but also get to visit my earlier attempts on creating similar lightweight, removable hillsides and Tunnels with a couple of variations.
A review of the stages to date
    Stage 1
    - taking measurements and building a skeleton from cardboard
    Stage 2
    - adding the polystyrene tunnel arches, landscaping and plaster of paris bandage.
    Stage 3
    - adding to the layout, painting and preparing for the layout.
    Stage 4
    - weathering inside the tunnel and arches to match with the surrounding retaining walls.
    Stage 5
    - Added some extra shrubs (using the same process as an earlier project) and a rock fall into the Marshalling yard.
    - In keeping with the location I added more red stone on the rock face - this was one of the distinctive elements of the original location. This was testing as I added each stone individually to the side of the hill.
    - Added a small wall that was created in another earlier project.
    Stage 6.
    - Added some additional rocks and shrubs.
    - Made the wall more permanent and included a road surface (with tea leaves) and a stone edge leading to the house.
    - An insight into my first attempt the Church on the Hill - this was featured in an earlier project. I am nowxstarting to work on more details - soil footpath and stone edging.
    - My 2nd attempt was to give more dimension to a corner - with this the front section can be completely removed.
    - With a damaged old carriage - I am making this into a restaurant / coffee shop and so added a car park area again with the stone boundary.
    - Oversight of another corner - sure this will also be changed and the Marshalling yard.
Plase refer to the latest video. You can use the process to start with as a trial and then refine to meet your own requirements.
