- In my last video we explored Meidum and crawled through Mastaba 17, entering the same way the grave robbers who dug the tunnel did thousands of years ago. Continue exploring with me as I ride my motorcycle to Lahun Pyramid and then Hawara, getting lost in villages and farmlands along the way (and finding my way back with the help of some friendly locals). I swear, this is far more compelling stuff than any fiction currently out there. I'm watching newest to oldest, so I feel like I've discovered a series in the middle of season 3 and I have SO many questions. However, you already answered my question about the police escorts, so I'm sure other answers will be forthcoming as I binge watch.

I loved the mention of Herodotus. No smoke up your ass, but right before you brought him up, I was thinking that you're doing a 21st century version of what he did. Also, the pyramid was amazing. It's one thing to see the ones in Giza, as they're located in what is today a populous area. It's another thing to see one out in the middle of nowhere. The mind reels thinking about how incredible it is that the ancient Egyptians were able to deal with the logistics of extending their infrastructure out so far as to make such a feat possible.
Lol, this was a fun comment to read, thanks man. I really do love exploring this country, off the beaten path is the best way to travel and gives one such a unique and rich experience, I'm really lucky. Looking forward to making a lot more trips with the bike once the temperature cools down again, I can't wait. The ancient Egyptians and the things they accomplished are mind blowing, so much is still a mystery, I love to imagine and marvel at what could have been.

Thank you Amy! I've been living in Egypt almost 2.5 years myself and only finally just made it out to this oasis! These pyramids are certainly not very well known by most visitors, if they're even heard of them at all. Which makes them really special and a great place to visit, since there are no other tourists. Highly recommend visiting this area on your next trip! And you never know, maybe you'll run into me next time you come back 😁 Thanks for watching 🥰🙏

@@Gventures This is an expression we use, you should add it to you Egyptian dict. "Ha'ml ma'ah el saH': I will do the right thing with you, which basically means the other way around, or I'm gonna do what they deserve. In this case we share their pictures on groups on social media here. It might not be the best option to follow, but unfortunately, social media works better than authorities here, specially when we're not "Americans" 😅😅

Another nice video. My favorite part was actually the drive into the villages. i loved seeing the farm life and all the greenery. I guess chutzpah is found all over the world. I can't imagine. asking someone to stop their motorcycle in order to take a picture. I am waiting to see the outcome.

@@LivePNW Lol yeah I like to joke, if all the Egyptian drivers were suddenly replaced with a snap of the fingers by American drivers, there would be an instant pile-up all over the country. Americans and westerners in general do not know how to drive in this environment. It does take some getting used to 😅

The Hawara pyramid has one of the most advanced security mechanisms found in any Egyptian pyramid, consisting of a quartzite crypt, sealed by a monolithic roof, that was lowered by a sand release mechanism. Sadly, the entire pyramid is flooded and it cannot be entered.

This video brought me back to the time i spent in the Nile Delta villages visiting friends and exploring! Such a simple farming life..probably hasnt changed much from the days of the pharoahs! Those narrow paths along the water channels. The cop saying..she has come by herself with worry in his voice made me smile. The police do look out for tourists and citizens. Are you just using your american driver's licence there or did you have to get an Egyptian one? Again this video was a quite stunning! Driving on that stretch of sand. Sucks that your phone got stolen. Young generation of lazy kids who rather steal than work. I have to check if you have gone to Mersa Matruh yet. At least there were people with you in the pyramid this time..alhamdulilah!
Yes my favorite part of exploring Egypt is always exploring on my motorcycle and driving through these villages and farmlands, I absolutely love it, and it is so beautiful. I have an international license, tried applying to get Egyptian one and it was denied, need to do more research as to why, blah blah. I haven't been to Marsa Matruh but I'm planning to soon Inshallah. I actually prefer to be alone in a pyramid! 🤣 But it was interesting being the only tourist and seeing the teams of workers.
I believe you may need a local escort not just help. it has to be someone you build a bond with locals law enforcement/ Army with a higher rank usually they are a plus ❤I recommend Maade and zamalak to hung out with more people easily
Nah I don't need an escort, the whole reason I am traveling solo is because I like it, and the theft that happened could have taken place anywhere. I've definitely heard about a lot more thefts from motorbikes while I was living in Saigon, Vietnam than I ever have in Egypt. I rode from Cairo to Abu Simbel and back last year with no issues. I actually like the neighborhood where I live, I've been living here for 2.5 years and love it, but I don't like hanging out in Maadi or Zamalek much, tbh. I have my circle of friends here already so it's good

As before, a really interesting video. Hope you don’t mind me saying but Amenemhat III built two large pyramids, one at Hawara where he was buried and an earlier one at Dahshur nearer Cairo. It’s the Dahshur pyramid which has been dubbed the Black Pyramid.

Thanks for sharing nice videos , but try to make group of friends or even one friend to go to these places , to avoid any problems and to be safe …. Maybe better to try to do it by tourists company ( you will pay money but you will be safe with your steps )
Oh no! I love traveling alone, and the risks are well worth the experience. I've been traveling the world alone for over 6 years now, and I rarely have problems. Anything can happen, and those boys could have stolen my phone even if I was traveling with a friend. Thank you for your concern though 🙏

Buy a car or even rent one .i could do bike rides in Bali, Thailand, Philippines but never in EG, remember you safety comes first you said those teens are unpredictable so you do ❤😂😅the maths!
Not just teens. Eg is fun historical and phenomenal but there’s pretty dangerous/high crimes areas too

Hmm. Yeah Bali is a piece of cake compared to Egypt, I was just there this summer with my bf, we thought driving there was cute 😅 But I've been driving in Egypt for over 2 years, I have an idea of how the traffic works and I know it's crazy, but it's where I learned how to really drive so I think I understand it fairly well. Motorbikes are risky no matter where you are in the world, it's just extra here. Actually the crime rate isn't that high here though, not when compared to NYC where I used to live, or dozens of other major cities around the world. For it being the 6th largest city in the world, the crime rate is actually quite low 😄 But I appreciate your concern and advice anyway, thanks man 😎

what camera do you use?
Most of the time when I am vlogging, I am using my action camera, Sony FDR-X3000. I've attached a Rode VideoMicro to that. When I'm riding my motorcycle I am using my GoPro6, but I'm looking to upgrade that soon. Occasionally, I use my camera phone (google pixel) to film a short scene, but not very often.

Kinda dangerous adventure, to a point where a phone is snatched 😲and, the remote places looks weird, nothing to see really! So why the risk? You also grab attention of locals with the red hair, and the curved eye liner, tone it down!
Dangerous? A phone could be snatched anywhere, and I have seen them snatched in many places around the world (far more often) such as on the subway in NYC. The remote places look weird? That's your opinion. And it's not a risk, that's my opinion. I draw attention with my hair anywhere I go, but I don't care, I've had it this color for 14 years because I like it. Mind your own business 🤣

Have you reported it to the police yet? I think you have the plate Number was recorded on Camera. Don't Have mercy on them. Just 24H and they will be captured. Next time pretend that you are calling the police and they would vanish.
