Great stuff .loved world of sports used to watch the wrestling on Saturday while my mum and sister went shopping all day it was great to have the sport on and have the house to myself .👍
I was at at that Rangers V Aberdeen game that Dickie Davies Mentioned yes there was trouble and i ended up on the track as i got squashed down the front of the West Enclosure 2 Rangers players were sent off in the 1st half Hugh Burns and Craig Patterson....sad we have lost DD R.I.P Legend
It should never have got replaced by Airwolf and other non sporting programmes. Only when the snooker came on ITV for a few Saturdays per year did you get the full 5 hours of Saturday afternoon of sport of old again.
Unlike The Big Match, not much seems to have survived, but it went out live so probably never recorded. There was a title sequence before the aeroplane one for example which doesn't appear to have survived.
RIP Dickie Davies ..Legend
RIP DD you were the best 👍
Rest in peace sir dickie and thanks for the wonderful world of sport memories 🙏
Saturday afternoons will never be the same again, Dickie Davies RIP

Yes it was good but it shouldn't have been part replacement for a full Saturday afternoon of sport.
Thankfully the world has moved on
1000 times better than Grandstand any weekend
