Strange to me that Dana white and the UFC wouldn't pick up armwrestling. They literally are promoting slap matches over armwrestling. Unbelievable.
Dana Promotes Violence that why I love arm wrestling so
Dana would exploit these guys, imo. That's what makes Engin great. Treats them all well.
Atleast ppl get knocked out in power slap
I think cuz pain, fighting, shock and awe and instant gratification is what really draws people.
Don't worry, big things coming for Arm Wrestling in the next year or so. But yea would be awesome if Dana promoted it.
Probably one of the best Devon interviews I’ve ever seen and he’s done a LOT
Means a lot. Thank you for that
I'm a rock climber, and I've never really armwrestled before, but it has become my favorite spectator sport BY FAR. I've bought every PPV since you faced Levan last year, and every event is something I look forward to. I definitely plan on trying it for myself soon.
we have some rock climbers that are very great after 1-2 years in the lower weightclasses. i don't know your weight but if you are in a lower weight class and have strong forearms from rock climbing you have good potential. finger strenght is not very important in armwrestling compared to wrist and pure forarm strenght, but rock climbers usually have good forearm and wrist as well.
There is a guy who arm wrestles at my club. He was a rock climber and he's unbelievable. I make no claim to be any kind of expert at all, but I am certain there must be good carry over. There are not many people I've seen beat him, especially on the left.
@@paulhobson8987 Climbing is very intense on the hands, wrists, forearms, and elbows. It's also very biased towards pulling motions. It may be the most similar sport anatomically to armwrestling other than just pure lifting. I would imagine seasoned climbers would have a bit of an easier time getting used to armwrestling since the elbow and wrist tendons are similarly developed to handle pressure from multiple angles. The only thing about climbers is that most of us are skinny and don't have as much bicep or shoulder strength usually.
@@paulhobson8987 it would definitely stand to reason. Rock climbing requires exceptional strength and endurance. I've only done it once, and by the time I was done, my forearms were jelly. I have mad respect for those folks and the shit they can do
Gabriel faced Levan?
I don’t even armwrestle (I’ve always been a runner/swimmer) but I really enjoy watching this sport. Keep going 💪
What an awesome interview, great questions and ya can't get a better setting than the Larratt dinner table with coffee. ❤ Thank you for everything Gabe!
Thanks DF!!!
@@Gabriel-Yung Hey champ. How's your elbow feeling? We were very concerned after the last video. Hope it wasn't serious.
Beautiful closing statements about motivation, visualization, and drive. The "Why" factor, as Gabe called it. Thanks for this video, man :)
YESSSSS!!! This was a very great interview. Laid back and honest. Keep working on your hand, try gaining size slow and steady, improve your pronation and your inside stopping power even more and you will do great Gabe!! All love brother💪
Keep up the good work buddy
Really good interview. Imagine the understanding we'll have of Devon and AW if Gabriel had as much time with him as Lex had
Thank you, maybe I'll try to do more interviews with other high level athletes. Depends if there's a demand for it;) Thanks for watching
Nice sport growth perspectives shared here. I liked the interview approach. Mellow and down to earth solid..
Thank you very much.
Great interview, thank you! 💪🏽
Awesome interview!
Excellent interview
Very good content here, the videos with Devon really caught up with your audience.
New subscriber here!
26 mins of Devon dropping knowledge. Great interview!!!
Good job man. It is a good trip 👍
This was a really good interview!!!
Great Interview
Aye big fan bud.keep up the good work
😊
Good one!!! 👌💪
Good video!
It needs some mainstream media coverage like a Netflix series. F1 giga blew up after it.
Great interview man! RE the timeline outlook of the sport Q, I think it shortens dramatically once Devon gets his Joe Rogan interview.. It's only a matter of time. And love Joe or hate him, you can't deny the massive number of eyeballs it will garner
yea i hope it happens man, devon's got so many cool stories to share and I think joe rogan would love to have him on, just gotta make it happen
@@nealcassady-yn3bhJoe and Devon are much more alike, both in personality and interests, which would make their conversation more rewarding. I can very much see it happening.
@@nealcassady-yn3bh The sport is being followed by much more people now compared to 2018. Views will increase with time also on the more recent matches.
@@nealcassady-yn3bh devon and dennis had their first match in 2018, hence I referred specifically to that year. Devon has never competed as much as this recent year so if views depend on him and his activity, then your theory is just plain wrong.
@@nealcassady-yn3bh I like Lex but have to staunchly disagree. Lex and Rogan have already interviewed the same people. And Rogan has been lifelong in the combat / strength circle adjacent to how Devon has been so its a good fit. Lex is a nerdy guy from MIT.. Very different people who are both good at interviewing
Visualization is such a powerful tool in all areas of life. Big champions have so far used it in sports (Jordan, Schwarzenegger, Djokovic). I'm sure more and more people will discover its tremendous benefits.
I am a new arm wrestling fan and have no direct contact with an arm wrestling competitor. I have purchased 6 PPV. It all started with the school boy videos. It was baffling how this kid was waxing everyone, even bigger more mature men. I knew there was some technique involved and I jumped down the rabbit hole and found Larry, Devon, John, etc.
Wow you asked some meaningful questions. You should keep these up an interview other arm wrestling greats!
Thank you, definitely helped doing it in person in an environment where he felt at ease. Hope to do more with other legends in the future;)
Good job on the match and nice interview! You should come to Alberta and hang out with Matt and the club and have a match with me sometime 😂💪🇨🇦
Awesome interview! The only thing I would suggest is to put the camera on a tripod. There were some background clicks that distracted a bit. Otherwise, excellent questions, and excellent job overall Gabriel! Hope your elbow was not hurt too bad. Would love an update. God's blessings.
Thank you very much for the kind message, yea when I asked Auden to record I didn't realize this interview would be almost 30 minutes long. Next time we will definitely use a tripod. My elbow feels fine, no color or indication of serious damage. I'm already working with bands and can go backwards and pronate no problem. Not too sure what happened but definitely isn't bad as my elbow already feels way better a couple days after. This will only strengthen it in the long run and I'm excited to see how this new training method changes the way I pull. Thanks for watching;)
Power man 💪
I live in the UK, and there are no clubs in about 40 mile radius of me. It sucks.
Start one
@@jaygrenham I have no experience, that's my point. I'd like to start but there's no clubs anywhere
Great interview, do you have an update on your elbow, how's it going?
Yes, was a ligament tear I believe. Feels fine and already working with bands. No purple and barely any pain just can't really extend and use side pressure yet. I'm sure I will heal back very quickly and get stronger from this. Sounds a lot worse than it actually is;) Thanks for the support!
@@Gabriel-Yung If the instability and pain persist over time, you might want to get an imagery of your MCL complex to see what has torn and how badly.
Hoping it wasnt a complete tear and you'll be back to full soon.
@@Gabriel-Yung Hey Gabe, I'm not a doctor, but collagen (Type 1 and 3) are great for soft tissue repair. Check it out. I use Neocell.
Biggest bottle of pure Canadian maple syrup on that table. Goes well with PANCAKES
Cool interview. So many insightful and intelligent things said and asked as well. Devon is awesome. Is it just me or.. does Devon look really muscular right now. Jeez. I know he's wearing a hoodie but his shoulders and biceps look big.
yea he's freaky right now. Levan better make sure he's completely healed up and even stronger than the last time they faced, or it will be a longgggg day
Devon the man!!
Hope Georgie puts up a good fight. Support him 100%💪
Want him to smash Devon's kings move
Thats spill was epic 😂😂😂
Listening to theory from devin is a good listen..hard to disagree with anything devin has shared.. as a olymic sport would it be awesome with devin as the ambassador
Arm wrestling needs its pump iron moment. I think netflix movie on Devon's run to beat levon could be it. Heaps of personality and everyone loves a victory story
with armwrestling its the same as with other sports, u need bigger stars to sell PPVs and make money. or else nobod will care. you need to be able to sell fights and market urself. this is still something many people within the armwrestling community struggle with or dont have an understanding for. for them its all about ''sportsmanship and respect'' and all that. And while all of that is great, it doesnt sell any PPVs. People want to be entertained. They want to root for one guy vs the other. They want to be polarized. Its the same in MMA. Thats why khabib vs mcgregor worked so well.
Thanks to Devon L . Without him the sport can't reach that level where it is now.
YOOOOOO! I use Canva also for my thumbnails
I see a bunch of pancakes and syrup.
I wonder if I make a big enough stack if devon will visit me too.
I am sure it is one of the prerequisites.
UA-cam algorithm boosting comment 💪 ... with that HUGE bottle of pancake syrup just sitting there! u know what's up 😏
If you build it people will come..
one key thing i think armwrestling needs is a single rule set that is used in and at every event, non of this nonsense where all the leage/organizations have different rule sets. it just makes thing confusing for the fans.
Jodi is so fine.
How is Gabriel so explosive - that speed was ridiculous (against Auden). With that kind of explosivity Gabriel has a serious edge over anyone in any athletic field.
yea but the thing i've been learning recently is the speed is only as good as the hand. Take a car doing a 1/4 mile. No matter how powerful the engine, without proper tires you're just spinning. Same goes for arm wrestling. Thanks for the support tho!!
Larratt is mentioning visualization.
Visualisation plays a huge role in Novak Djokovic's career, which is probably the best athlete of all times.
Definitely not a coincidence that two superior TOP athletes use this as a tool. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Novak is the goat of tennis but idk about best athlete of all time
@@ryannolan3752 He is there with Karelin, Bolt, Malong, Emil Zatopek, M. Ali and Phelps.
Auden’s got some stable hands lmao
😂😂
Heyyyyyyy
Who was moving the phone the whole time lol

I could agree with the growth as long as the sport has a true champion. For each weight. Right now you have to many titles for world champion. In different leagues. Dark card. East vs west. Too many leagues.
but didnt they just arm wrestled and devon won? why do it again? I think I saw that movie thing where they fought.. ?
it was left hand
Right hand match is saturday on kott
Is that a giant jug of maple syrup?
i am from england and we don't have any clubs or comps, no london open for armwrestling, and no eastvwest qualifiers here. yes we have armwars but come on, armwars it just not that good.
I think Devon is wrong about it finding its way into school sports. Theres too much risk of devastating injuries at that age. If it become a high school level thing, after a couple years of dozens of kids snapping their arms in half and possibly having amputations it’ll end. Because at the end of the day, snapping your arm in half with a compound fracture, there is a risk of amputation. And you can’t have that. Not for 16 year old kids. Not sanctioned by the government.
Agree 100%
He is way off on that, but you can hurt yourself in any highschool sport, you always sign a waiver that nobody is liable if you get hurt, I was in several sports, and got bloody many times, I always had to pay for hospital bills because of those waivers. Same with pulling
East vs West won't reach 5 mil followers pretty confident on this
I wouldn't be so sure. EvW is growing exponentially and more and more sponsors are getting involved. Devon is involved with East v West and I believe his judgment isn't far fetched at all. Time will tell of course but if a major broadcast channel picks up our sport like ESPN did back in the days, who knows....
The factor that will make it plausible is the crossover of armwrestling into fitness/gym culture. Those people generaly have more chance to like arm wrestling after exposure. Thats happed to 5 friends of my And i think it could happen at a large scale. Larr wheel is a big factorin tis. Alex eubank was in a vid, Ediie hall was, Jujimfu Arkona ect. And very important is the Joe rogan Devon interview
I think that Dana White will step into the Arm wrestling world within 10 years.
It's growing at an amazing rate and won't be slowing down anytime soon, Dana will see the potential money maker, it's only a matter of time before he drops the stupid Slap Fighting that no one gives a crap about.
@@nealcassady-yn3bhstop spamming the same comment
@@nealcassady-yn3bh how long have you been watching? No judgement I swear
I really hope the drugs and steroid crap will go away. More testing and etc.
Anyone else hear a fart at like 20 seconds
asdf
I feeel like arm wrestling needs some trash talk. Some great self promoters
have you ever watched devon or travis bagent videos?? lol
@@Gabriel-Yung those are just two people.
Ever since I saw how Gabriel treated Allen I just didn't like him. The guy is 70 years old and let gaybriel win and he thinks hes gods gift 🙄 thanks for avenging our boy auden
Do arm wrestlers always shake hands with the left? Weird to see i was always taught left means disrespect, but i know thats not the case here
I think they just shake hands with whatever hand they are not actually fighting with that day. Cause usually, they are in straps after a round.
Great questions Gabriel - you have the focus of Lex Friedman already now - that' s impressive. You can take this far. Any topic. Any personalitY!
