So, I used to travel from Ajmer to Kanchiguda (Secundrabad) so many times in passenger train. At that time, it was meter gauge and train had First Class coach. So I enjoyed my journey always.

My childhood was spent on trains powered by steam locomotives. What I miss most nowadays are platforms with trees and a base around it to sit. The trees in the mornings and evenings would attract scores of birds and their chirping was music to the ears.

I have travelled on this line in the year 1977 when it was meter gauge, from Akola to Secuderabad by Kachhiguda Express. Then from Secunderabad to Bangalore by Venkadri Express (this route was also meter guage) via Mehboobnagar, Dronachalam and Kurnooltown and Guntakal. In 1977 I was a student of Final Year B.Com. in LRT College of Commerce, Akola. Now settled in Mumbai. My father was a Railway employee at Akola, Bhusawal Division.
Last time I had traveled from Akola to Khandwa in May 1997. The MG train departed from Akola at 14:00 Hrs and reached Khandwa at 19:00 Hrs. It's more scenic than the route you have traveled. The famous Dull Ghat spiral and Melghat Tiger Reserve Forests are splendid through Hiwarkhed , Dull Ghat and Tukaithad.Now the route is under gauge conversion.

बात 1994 October की है। देश में प्लेग की महामारी थी और गुजरात और महाराष्ट्र में भीषण प्रकोप था। पिताजी की पोस्टिंग प्रयागराज में थी और मुझे बारहवीं की क्लास पास कर के औरंगाबाद में कॉलेज join करना था । तय हुआ कि हम प्रयागराज से हैदराबाद और फिर वहाँ से aurangabad जाएँगे । शाम के सात बजे काचिगुडा स्टेशन से ट्रेन ने प्रस्थान किया aur रात में क़रीब बारह बजे पूर्णा जंक्शन आयी। काचिगुडा से पूर्णा तक meter गेज लाइन थी और पूर्णा से manmad तक ब्रॉड गेज conversion हो गया था। पूर्णा में उतर कर दूसरे rake में baithna था ।। ठीक इसी तरह प्लैट्फ़ोर्म पर एक लाइट नहीं थी। पिताजी ने किसी तरह माथिस जला कर platform क्रॉस कराया। आपका video देख कर 30 saal पूरानी याद आ गयी। सोचा आप के साथ साझा करूँ।
वीडियो देख कर बचपन की याद ताजा हो गई, जब दिल्ली काचीगुडा रूट पर मीटर गेज में जयपुर से खंडवा की यात्रा किया करते थे। रूट पर हर स्टेशन का अपना एक अलग ही मज़ा था, चाहे जयपुर खूबसूरती हो, या अजमेर के पास नसीराबाद के कचौरे का स्वाद हो, या नीमच की चाय की चुस्की, आज भी याद आती हैं। मंदसौर से स्लेट पर लिखने के पेम (कलम) खरीदना हो या रतलाम की सेंव (नमकीन) सब आज सब आखों के आगे आ गया। फतेहाबाद के गुलाबजामुन व कालाकुंड के कलाकंद की याद आज भी मिठास घोल देती हैं। पातालपानी के घाट की खूबसूरती के तो क्या कहने, जिसे देखने के लिये पूरी यात्रा में इंतज़ार करते थे। जयपुर से खण्डवा की मीटर गेज की वे यात्रायें आज भी रोमांचित करती हैं।

Ap delhi se jodhpur jao via ratangarh din k time m, maza ayega. Mera hometown didwana bhi usi route p h. Abhi mansoon bhi h to rajasthan m kafi hariyali ho gayi h.

I had travelled on this route during meter guage by Meenakshi express from Washim to Jaipur.... What a beautiful journey it was.... My grandfather had made a diary of the whole journey which includes the stations timings, snaks famous like kachora and the diesel shed of Phulera Jn... The diary is with me as his identity..... It was 2007 when I had travelled bt the route is still in my memories like greenery, tunnels, valleys and meterguage junction... Cant forget that journey... Once the Khandwa to Ratlam gets converted to broad guage then the route will be heaven...
Train is taking a longer route from Bhopal to Secunderabad via Khandwa and Nizamabad..If the train takes the Bhopal to Nagpur to Kazipet route you can save a lot of time..
I traveled on this rout almost thirty years ago when my son was just three years old. We traveled from Indore to Hingoli via Akola. It was a meter gauge. Between Indore and Akot there were no major railway stations. It was the most boring railway journey. The train was from Ajmer to Secondarabad. We get to travel in First class AC. Otherwise it was very hot. Now it seems everything is changed. Akola was meter gauge and broad gauge. I lived in Hingoli for three years.
The original route was Jaipur Ajmer Chittor Ratlam Indore Mahu khandwa Akola Secundrabad. This route was meter gauge that time. Bhopal Itarsi were not in the route. Departure from Jaipur was around 12:10 pm and arrival in Indore was around 4:00 am. It was 1993-94-95-96…train name was Minakshi express. I use to travel Jaipur Indore & Jaipur Khandwa and way back.

Great capture on a route less travelled. Yes ALCOs definitely add flavor. Once the Indore - Khandwa and Khandwa - Akola gauge conversions completes the journey time will reduce considerably.

Correction- 1) Their is one route also from khandwa , direct to akola via akot which is still meter guage apart from 3 lines from khandwa. 2) There is no loco reversal in akola 3) akola-bhusawal route was electrified long ago
Exactly... loco reverse only if train comes from Nagpur line via Badnera and or vice versa.. i. e. Purna to Akola then proceed towards Badnera...and in Bhusaval there is separate chord line connected to Nagpur line which bypass Bhusaval...
में नीमच शहर में ही रहता हु और nimach का फुल फार्म "North India Mounted Artillery and Cavalry Headquarters" है यह अंग्रेजो के द्वारा दिया गया नाम है.... Nimch को crpf की जन्मस्थली कहाँ जाता है.. क्युकी सबसे पहले crpf की स्थापना nimach में हुई थी... और यहाँ एशिया की सबसे बड़ी अफीम फैक्ट्री भी है....

It was a legendary meter gauge line between Ajmer and Kacheguda( Hyderabad). The Section between Khandwa and Akola was a direct MG Line and dotted with beautiful hills and jungles specifically with little stations such as Akot( Start of Hills and Jungles) just before Akola and all the way till Dhulaghat. In between were stations like Wan Road and the famous Dhulaghat Spiral where the train line bisected its own over a hill. Just Beautiful Vistas all around with slow chugging Diesel Action. All now just confined to history. This was 1990 and I was in an engineering college in Akola and that used to be our favourite getaway.

Great capture on a route less travelled. Yes ALCOs definitely add flavor. Once the Indore - Khandwa and Khandwa - Akola gauge conversions completes the journey time will reduce considerably.

Correction-
1) Their is one route also from khandwa , direct to akola via akot which is still meter guage apart from 3 lines from khandwa.
2) There is no loco reversal in akola
3) akola-bhusawal route was electrified long ago
Exactly... loco reverse only if train comes from Nagpur line via Badnera and or vice versa.. i. e. Purna to Akola then proceed towards Badnera...and in Bhusaval there is separate chord line connected to Nagpur line which bypass Bhusaval...

It was a legendary meter gauge line between Ajmer and Kacheguda( Hyderabad). The Section between Khandwa and Akola was a direct MG Line and dotted with beautiful hills and jungles specifically with little stations such as Akot( Start of Hills and Jungles) just before Akola and all the way till Dhulaghat. In between were stations like Wan Road and the famous Dhulaghat Spiral where the train line bisected its own over a hill. Just Beautiful Vistas all around with slow chugging Diesel Action. All now just confined to history. This was 1990 and I was in an engineering college in Akola and that used to be our favourite getaway.

Khandwa to Akola the train is going on broad gauge with bypassing Bhusawal jn. Meter gauge track is still under construction for conversion to broad gauge
Ye line delhi se kacheguda thi via ajmer,chittaurgarh,ratlam,indore,mhow,khandwa,akola,purna thi delhi se ajmer tk to double line thi aur parallel me broad guage line thi.
Geetanjali is one of the most prestigious and popular train of this route. It also gets priority.
