    Hey Patrick just want to let you know that ive been an avgeek/trip-geek since 7 years back but recently came across your channel and your videos are great. Good content, no clickbaiting thumbnails, and just chill vibes. Greetings from Stockholm and have a good week!

    • @OhHeyItsShan
      @OhHeyItsShan 2 місяці тому

      No clickbaiting thumbnails? This video is the very example of a clickbaiting thumbnail! The thumbnail has a 737 with a title stating Tanzania to China. Given that 737's primarily travel short haul routes, this is a bit of stretch. Obviously people will click to see how a 737 managed to fly from Africa to China. Only once the video starts do we find out that he is actually travelling on a 787 which is more believable. What's the excuse to not put a picture of a 787 on the thumbnail? No shortage of images on the internet plus he can always take his own picture of the aircraft.

    • @tompathepr0
      @tompathepr0 2 місяці тому

      @ Well compare it to people doing ridiculous thumbnails with splashes of colors and emojis and such... you get what I mean

    • @OhHeyItsShan
      @OhHeyItsShan 2 місяці тому

      @@tompathepr0 The thing is that splashes of color and emojis aren't click baiting if the main image used correctly represents what the video is all about. Colours and emojis can enhance a thumbnail, but by themselves they aren't misleading. It is only considered clickbait if they use a title that is inaccurate and has been purposely exaggerated to convince someone to click the video or if an image that doesn't represent the video content is used again to convince someone to click the video. In this case Patrick is being misleading by placing an image of a 737 and then using a title to claim he flew from Africa to China. It's misleading because firstly he never flew on the 737 - the review is about the 787, so he is lying and secondly his title suggests he is travelled on the 737 to China so the title is misleading too. Anyone looking at the thumbnail as is would assume he flew to China from Africa on a 737 based on the image and the title - both of which are misleading and therefore his entire thumbnail is clickbait.

    That Air Tanzania business class looks and feels much better than the one found in Philippine Airlines' high-density A330s, despite both having the exact same base seat model (Stelia Equinox), as the lie-flat mode of the two side-by-side seats do not result to a tiered form like the one in PAL, where one is positioned higher than the other (go check out Sam Chui's PAL A330 flight review). Anyway, great review as always.

    At one time, a US carrier, Trans World Airlines (TWA) served Dar es Salaam with flights from the US through Athens, Greece. TWA served Dar from the mid-1960s and had been suspended by the early 1970s. TWA had won the authority to fly through ATH to Dar, Nairobi and Entebbe in the mid-1960s which turned TWA’s ATH station into a multi-directional hub with flights to/from the US, Europe (Frankfurt, Rome, Paris), Africa, the Middle East and the Far East (BKK, HKG). TWA cited high crew costs as a reason to drop service to Dar and Entebbe. The flights only operated one day per week, requiring very long layovers for the crews.
    TWA 882 operated from JFK on a Saturday night, stopping in ATH, Entebbe and Nairobi, terminating at Dar on Sunday night at around 2000. The 707 returned to JFK, leaving DAR at 0400 on Monday (6 hours on the ground), making the same stops in reverse.

    Thanks for the video, Patrick. African Governments should embrace the Single African Air Transport Market and reduce taxes and charges to stimulate air travel on the continent. This will open up the market, provide more options, lower the fares and grow the airlines plus their hubs. The last time I checked, Tanzania had not embraced SAATM, most probably to shield its national airline from competition. However, restricting competition through outdated BASAs means the National airline is also restricted from many other would-be destinations on the continent and beyond. This places a caveat on their regional and medium-range continental routes which would feed into the likes of CAN and other present or planned transcontinental destinations. Save for the Q400, their equipment is underutilized and is likely to remain that way unless the sector is liberalized to enable Air Tanzania benefit from interline and code share arrangements. A young fleet is not an indicator of success (Air Tanzania is a loss making entity). It is how the fleet is utilized that can lead to growth and profitability for the airline.

Now the 2X2 window/isle seat configuration can be made better by facing window forward and isle reverse facing as the you have easy access around the back of the isle seat while be seated in the window seat. I've seen this configuration before just don't remember hat channel maybe it was yours. Okay catch you next video cheers

    Cassava is not a "grain-type product". It's a starchy *tuber* (it grows underground) like potatoes, but much more versatile, allowing a lot of different preparations: just cooked, deep-fried, ground to a rough meal that itself allows many types of preparations, or extracting the starch to make bread, cakes, and biscuits. (Tapioca, for example, is made from cassava starch, which also has a lot of uses, chiefly as a thickener, in the food industry all over the world.) It's originally native from Eastern South America and a basic staple in the cuisines of several countries, particularly Brazil, Paraguay, and Bolivia. It can also be used to produce alcohol biofuel.
    But since cassava is a high-yield, carbohydrate-rich crop that doesn't require a lot of fertilizers, grows well in a lot of different soils and in climates ranging from cool to very hot, and resists most pests, Portuguese navigators took it to their African colonies, from where it spread to other parts of Africa and it's now popular pretty much all over the continent as well. There are two problems with cassava, though: first, cassava is delicious and high in energy and vital minerals, but it has almost no protein, so if too much of a region's feeding depends solely on it, people will be malnourished from lack of protein. The South American native peoples who first domesticated and used cassava were mostly hunter-gatherers, so they supplemented it with a lot of protein from other sources. This is not always the case in Africa (or among the colonized people with a Western-like diet in some parts of South America itself).
    The second problem is that raw cassava is poisonous (some varieties much more than others, and in South America the more toxic varieties are well-known and usually reserved for making cassava meal and starch rather than for direct eating), and there are techniques to detoxify it for safe consumption that are well-known in South America, but not always in Africa, where more toxic varieties are often eaten without proper preparation. There are rarely enough toxins to make cassava lethal from a single meal of it, but frequent consumption of sublethal amounts of unprocessed or poorly processed cassava can lead to a chronic-poisoning condition that's well characterized and known by African doctors.

    Correction at 22:34 min mark where Patrick says it's not likely Air Tanzania will fly to the U.S. because the two countries do not share business or cultural ties; however, over 100,000 Americans visit Tanzania each year. This is the most tourists from any country. The country with the second most tourists is France, followed by Germany and the UK. Tanzania does not have direct flights with any of those countries. There are no British Airways flights to TZ, nor are Air France, Lufthansa, or any U.S. flagged carried flying directly to TZ.

    The biggest issue with African Air Transport, is the cumbersome visa requirements for most nations as well as very restrictive freedom to fly routes.
    It’s never going to grow unless tourism grows as well. I’ve booked a flight to Rwanda in February on ET.
    My real destination is Uganda, but researching the options, I discovered Rwanda was easy to enter and obtain an East Africa Visa.
    So that’s what I’m doing! Why African countries impede easy issuance of visa, escapes me! And this is very true of most Nationalities, including other African Countries!

    26:45, Really? But China Southern depart at 7pm, but flew to Wuhan before flying to San Francisco, not non stop from Guangzhou to San Francisco. If you want to fly China Southern non stop from Guangzhou to San Francisco, it only flies 2 times a week, Tuesday and Saturday.

    Good video Patrick but wished to inform you about factually incorrect information, Dar es Salaam Terminal 3 was build by a Dutch Company called Royal BAM Group. They won the tender in 2013, more information can be found in their website. T3 was amongst BAM'S last international projects as the company has now re-strategised to construct only with in the Netherlands and sold their International Construction Wing has largely been taken over by another Dutch Construction company called Ballast Nedam.

    The Airport is NOT Investment of China and is not owned by any Chinese Company. If any of China construction Contract was given a Contract to build/Construct anything at that Airport, it was Paid in full by the Government. Further more, the Airport was built by Engineers from Netherlands not China. For that Reason, China has no ownership nor investment of the Airport. And NOT everything you see in Africa is built by China, just so you know.

    The inflight entertainment choices were a joke. Is that selection the best that they have? The business class meals look like economy meals. The only difference is the fact each of the containers were porcelain rather than the plastic ones found in economy. They are a new and emerging airline but they need to step it up. Ethiopian and Kenya Airways next door have stepped up their game and they need to compete on the same level if they want to consider becoming an alternative choice.

    We must minimize political interference in the daily operations of this airline, as it leads to nothing positive. Safety standards are international and must never be compromised for any reason. The airline has earned a reputation for being heavily politicized, to the point where operations are delayed to accommodate political figures arriving late at airports, this is unacceptable. We must accept the EU challenge and work towards upgrading our standards to meet international expectations for the safety and satisfaction of all passengers. It's time to eliminate political interference once and for all and focus on the technical aspects of service to compete on the global stage.

    Patrick, here is some constructive criticism;
    1. Don't use clickbait thumbnails, try to rise above that. A 737 flying from Tanzania to China - a bit of stretch! Clickbaiting people to watching your videos is the fastest way to get them not to watch and to unsubcribe. If you stand by the quality of your work, then a genuine thumbnail representing your video should be the only option.
    2. You show the lounge and the buffet area but don't actually show the buffet food. "The buffet has plenty of stuff to make a solid meal" - don't say that, show us. Let us decide if it does or doesn't. You showed us spices yet I don't think anyone was disputing what spices look like. If you are doing lounge reviews, showing the actual food and drink on offer is a must. Given that it wasn't busy or crowded, you therefore had ample opportunity to showcase the food on offer.
    3. Overall watching one of your videos for the first time, I was impressed. You didn't leave out any details and you tried to cover as much as possible in both narration and video. I like that you did showcase everything with the onboard entertainment - like showing the movie selection and tv selection etc. Lots of vloggers forget to do this and just skip over it.
