York has always had good electronics with well thought out algorithms. Indoor and defrost boards. There is also a method via a dehum input to the indoor board which allows the thermostat control of a reduction in airspeed even when the Delay timers have expired. When these options are combined with a two stage scroll, very good dehum and low interior sound levels are the norm. I like York/Johnson Controls has started protecting the board with an enclosure. Finally, it should be obvious that hacking in a psc replacement just because the ecm motor module has failed, severely impacts the customer's comfort and noise levels. I sometimes offer a customer the option of keeping spare modules at reduced, close to wholesale cost. Its a win win that makes you a hero if they need one in a hurry.

Great video thanks for sharing it I had my txv values changed and then my blower motor went out it would blow high and low I had it replaced and now it blows a little different high then very low and the temperature is different by 3 or more dregs and feels more cool and not warm set on 79 but in front room is 75. It is a heat pump in a mobile home single wide. It was warming and cooling before they changed the motor. Thanks have a blessed day 🙏

It’s a pity that this is what the service industry has become.
In NYC, there used to be a men’s clothing store called Sym’s and there motto was: “ An educated consumer is our best customer”.
Perhaps some of that holds true in the HVAC world. Maybe the homeowner should pick up the book, read it then ask the tech how he set up their unit and why. Hopefully , the tech won’t respond “ it’s cooling ain’t it ?”.

i have a Lennox SLP98UHV unit with single stage 2.5ton unit outside.
My communicating thermostat died and the replacements are $800 and don't last long either. So I went in the basement and put the unit in non-communicating mode so I could use an Ecobee thermostat.
The house is comfortable but I feel like I need to dial in the fan speed in better. The way it is now, when cooling it will run at 900cfm for about 6 minutes then ramp up to 1100 for a minute then shut off. I don't have fancy measuring tools so I just used a laser temp gun. Im sure it's not 100% accurate. The day I took temps it was 92 outside, thermostat set for 71. When it hit 73 inside the unit kicked on. The air coming from the register was 48F. I keep the 5" filter replaced every 6 months (not 12 months like it recommends) and the unit cools very well.
Should I change to a different fan speed setup? Google says fans should run for 15-20 minutes to keep from wearing out the compressor and other reasons. And you mention the vents being too noisy but even at 900 I can hear it if the tv is off. And 1100 cfm is loud obviously. Should i slow it down even more to make it run longer?

I live in in North Texas and sure has been more humid than normal staying at 80 to 90% for awhile from all the weeks of rain.
The sad part of the extreme humidity in North Tx, 80-90% for last few months, and now getting hot, the humidity kills your condensor fan motor.

Hi and THANK you for the info! I live in South Florida, talk about heat and humidity! It’s July been 100 everyday outside and rain. I got a brand new Goodman HVAC central air system in my condo. The technician recommended lowering the blower (I don’t know what level he set it, this is not my field) and said it will run quieter and rid the rooms of humidity. It is working great. My indoor thermostat is reading 35% humidity. That’s DRY for us. *It gives me a sore throat during the night it’s pretty dry, but I’d hate to raise the blower because it’s so efficient. Do you think lowering the blower also saves on the electric bill? I’ve noticed it’s about the same as it always was. It does feel a lot better inside though.👍
I need to get the blower set lower in n. Rheem 2.5 ton. It’s so loud and doesn’t kick on as often. The breeze is way too strong. I need to hire someone. So the humidity isn’t as dry as I like. Can I lower this or have to buy a device. I’m in southeast Florida.
Hi Tad, if I understood you and the procedure in the beginning, I believe you said the motor will compensate for high static pressure. What was the static pressure of this unit? Was the blower compensating for high static when you had the higher CFM's and noise in the beginning?Thanks for the great video!
I do not know what the static. I did not have my Tool for that at the time

If that's a two story house the upstairs will be hotter with less push.
dehumidification is closely related to fan speed
If you had to put in a psc motor what tap would you use? Would be. Interesting to see a manometer hooked up to see static. James Toy Mesa,Az
If you had a psc motor you wouldn't be using the board or the taps

Thank you for this i was able to slow the blower on cool from high to med lo and it made a big difference in how well my ac works! Do you think i should try putting it on low? I don't have a york but man what a difference!

I have a York TM9V 60,000 BTU furnace. I want to adjust the fan speed, but I can't find what size of jumper to use and where to get them. This is just for cooling mode. Pushes a lot of air. I want to dial it back just a bit so it runs a little longer with better dehumidification.

Do I need to be concerned at lower speeds of the coils freezing? I had a tech here just today who would not put the speed lower than what he did because he said the coils will freeze. I live in central Florida swamp, so it is about to get very humid and I want to add the delay and reduce the speed to better manage humidity so I don’t have to have a portable Dehumidifier in the house.
You can monitor the suction pressure and temperature while adjusting air flow
Unless the technician saw a low suction pressure I think he was probably making that up
Were you able to maintain a proper superheat with the lower air flow?
Generally the txvs will maintain superheat over a wide range. Often these ecm systems are also 2 stage allowing first stage operation as well. Assuming a proper thermostat is used, typically a better Honeywell.
Will doing the steps you show have any effect on the Heat blower speed? I have a york gas pack and from what I understand the blower speed would need to remain higher for that.
there are speed taps for heat and cool on this unit so I only adjusted for the cooling

Do you know how I would find the heater kit model that is installed? We have this same 48C model but the installers did not mark what heater kit it has on it

Its worse if you go south Tx where you are right off the Gulf, that sea water in the air will rust out your air system in no time.
what is the difference between Cool/Heat taps and Adjust ?
Cool is adjusting the fan speed in cooling
Heat is adjusting the fan speed and heating
And adjust gives you an option to increase or decrease fan speed a certain percentage.
Hey man… I have a question… trying to call my HVAC guy but no answer, maybe he died or something.
I have a Bosch 2.0 IDS 3 ton condenser with a variable speed carrier air handler, but I only notice one speed , very fast coming out the vents… and it turns on and off a whole lot. What do I have to do to make it slow down the speed so it doesn’t have to turn on and off so damn much.
