😮wow steep!❤
The hike wasn't long, but it was brutal! And so worth it 😁.
The cacti are beautiful!!!😊❤
I ordered seeds when I got home... I'll be growing prickly pears soon! It'll look great next to my wife's Christmas cactus 🌵
FYI Mt Johnson Island is the very first Bald Eagle Sanctuary in the country. There was a Bald Eagle nest in a huge oak tree in the 1950's. It was unoccupied and the pair left shortly after the original power line cut was cut.
Fantastic adventure! You guy's took a bit of a beating but the video was beautiful! The cacti were absolutely beautiful! 🥾🧭❤
I feel like none of us hiked the next day, lol. I was back at it two days later though! 💪🥾 Thanks for watching!
What a fun day! The cactus is a wild find for sure! Great video footage too.
Definitely one of the coolest things I've ever done!
Just watched Topo's video, now watching yours. During your entire ascent I was wondering if you were marking the trail so you could find the way back. Quite an adventure! No nuclear plant mutants out there? Can't believe Lewis did that hike in shorts!! Jeez... Being careful not to grab a cactus......or a handful of poison ivy! LOL! Cool adventure, thanks for taking us along!
Charlie, those were all valid, dangerous concerns we had... Especially nuclear mutants! Brett thought he heard one, in fact 🧟!!! Thank you so much for watching!
I love how steep it was. Cole's arm looked like it was attacked by a demon! We gotta back and see the top of the island.
If the demon scratched up Cole's arms, he must have gnawed on Luis's legs! 👹
Now that looked challenging and fun. Long pants for sure to go there
John, I always wear long pants on hikes... I don't like being brushed by non- thorny things, so I'm always good when the thorns come out. This was one of the most challenging times I've ever done. Plus my arms aren't in paddling shape yet. Glad you enjoyed it!
There was a farm below the south end of the island. In the 1950's you could still see the walls and foundation of the barn, now under sediment. There was a Peach orchard here too, thus the name Peach Bottom.
I figured there must have been more down there.... Did Conowingo Dam raise the levels and bury those areas? Thanks for watching, John.
Very cool and interesting stuff !
We were sure we'd find snakes sunning themselves up in the power cut... Evidence 💩 of deer, but nothing else.
That was quite an adventure! Who owns that island?
As of 2012, possibly Exelon Energy? It's very hard to dig up information on this island.
