I felt shocked and disappointed when seeing Ran play a libero role. I always think the team doesn't treasure him enough. The setter didn't give him opportunity to hit the ball when he was a spiker in prior games. Now even ask Ran to be a libero ??? It is totally insane !! Ran absolutely deserves a better team and a better coach !
Knowing Ran Takahashi's skills, I know he should not be a libero, but being a libero should not be underestimated. This is because libero's are always the players who keep the ball going even though the ball is close to falling. Actually, the fact that Takahashi can also play as a libero just proves that he really is a very talented and skillful player. I mean not all players can perform well as a libero, but he is doing it amazingly.

Takahashi was previously a libero so it makes sense. His hitting may not be on par with the others on Padova, but his receive could be. This would also help with his floor defense. This is all around the best thing that could happen to takahashi at this moment. Hitting is not the only thing in volleyball.

Don't underestimate the power of libero. Yuki also played as libero on his previous teams and even in Milano. Look at him now, Yuki has good receivings from the serves and spikes and even the digs! Perfectly fine with Ran being a libero as this would polish his floor defense further. Japanese defense went down a notch lower without Fuzukawa and Yanagida. A more defensive Ran will greatly help the Japanese team.

I was shocked at first to see Takahashi as a libero but still good to see him playing in the mach. He came late to the season so it's understandable that he wasn't going to take the starter place so fast, hope that in next games he can ay as an outside hitter but also I don't underestimate him being a libero because I also have played this position and it's not less important, also it doesn't make you less capable of playing volleyball, I hate when liberos doesn't get credit for hitting the floor so many times to save a ball as well as the setter for setting perfect balls for the hitters, because even though they don't usually score, they have the power to make the team win!
Likely the reason is that Padova is really weak with floor defense and reception. Milano having stronger offense than Padova, they switched Ran to a libero temporarily.

There is nothing wrong with being or playing as LIBERO. It's an opportunity for RAN to learn more and gain EXPERIENCE in volleyball. How can a player improve if he is LIMITED to one position only? Look at YUKI, he also played as LIBERO before (with the other clubs) and as you can see him now, he is a good receiver, he can even set the ball and best of all can spike. He is a VERSATILE player. Way to go RAN...... and congrats!

Liberos are amazing and really necessary in volleyball, but it kinda hurts to see such an amazing OH as Ran not playing in the position he's supposed to. I understand it will help him improve other skills, but he's already so good at receiving and passing, and truthfully, Padova needs better attackers, they're mostly relying in Botolo, while Weber is quite sloppy and not precise enough to be a starter on court. That's why I think Ran could be a great option to have a consisting and reliable player on court, so I don't understand the tactic Padova is trying rn and it shows to be failing

Libero’s performance is crucial to the team. Japs are trained in good floor coverage and each if their player do transitions smoothly and effectively. No one does it better.

RAN, being a libero wanting to improve as a player as a whole, from being an attacker and now doing the floor defense, I think its a clever Idea to enhance his overall skills. RAN first ball straight to the setter is amazingly executed.

Even in the recent VNL 2023 RN is like having two liberos haha (Yamamoto and Ran). Ran is really good at receiving and his floor defense is so good. While Ran is a great offensive player for Team Japan, he is not effective in Italy because the blockers are taller than him. Now, as libero, he is a great defensive player and a great play maker.
Many people here comment about being libero as if it is a lesser position in volleyball. Not because a position cannot score that doesn't mean that it's less important. Being a libero is no easy feat. And being a libero means that the player is the best in the team in floor defense more often than not.

That's the good thing kapag maganda ang system s aibang bansa. Yung kahit anong position napapapractice nila para kapagkelangan, just like this with Ran, hindi na magaaadjust nang malaki. Dito kasi sa atin usually ang pinakamalaking transition na ay from being a setter to libero and vice versa. My poit is, sana mas magandang system at training dito sa atin na hindi na kelangan pumunta ng ibang bansa to train, at hindi napopolitika.
Pros, he can develop his skills when it comes to digging and receiving (well, it could also on other role) Cons, he is not developing his role as a spiker, and as member of Japan National team, i think this not s good thing for his career because it could hinder this one on his career path
Honestly, I don't know why anyone in the professional volleyball world is "surprised" by Japanese players playing as liberos. Their entire Japan National Team outranked any players in terms of defense (Serve receptions, floor defense, 2nd touch assists, etc). The Japanese National Team squad is a bunch of liberos disguised as other positions. They are exceptional and recruiting them as other positions just mean you snagged a 2 for 1 deal! Lets just all admire how Japanese players are an all-around package players.
Terrible decision. After his transfer to club, it has messed with his natural spiker mentality. This change has the potential of destroying is morale. Ran is used to being an "attention-grabber" per se. As a libero, he loses this element. For a short period in this new position, he will play like an all-star. However, for the long term, it will detriment him. Praying that he never loses his spiking abilities and natural eagerness to slam balls. Shoutout from U.S.A.

I think it's because they still can't exploit ran's abilities since he is in italy since a short period of time. If they put him in as libero and Gottardo as outside hitter, they can put Gottardo in if the team needs even more power in defense. Gottardo used to play oh in the national U21 team, so it's like having two liberos but one of them (gottardo) is able to coordinate with the setter (zimmermann) and score a point if necessary.
if you are a true player, regardless of what position you are given there should be no problem at all.. a true player should be flexible and open minded about it.

Many people here comment about being libero as if it is a lesser position in volleyball. Not because a position cannot score that doesn't mean that it's less important.
Being a libero is no easy feat. And being a libero means that the player is the best in the team in floor defense more often than not.
Takahashi is doing an amazing job as Libero.
Actually, his receiving skills are quite great when I first watched him in his first international matches.

これからずっとリベロでないことを願います。蘭君は優秀なので（リベロも悠々とこなす）試合によってリベロとして使うことがいいと考えてのことならいいですが、今後もずっとリベロを続けるとなると蘭の攻撃レベルは下がると思うし、日本代表で試合する時のことが心配になります。リベロの修行でイタリアに行ったのではないと思います。。。

That's the good thing kapag maganda ang system s aibang bansa. Yung kahit anong position napapapractice nila para kapagkelangan, just like this with Ran, hindi na magaaadjust nang malaki. Dito kasi sa atin usually ang pinakamalaking transition na ay from being a setter to libero and vice versa. My poit is, sana mas magandang system at training dito sa atin na hindi na kelangan pumunta ng ibang bansa to train, at hindi napopolitika.

Pros, he can develop his skills when it comes to digging and receiving (well, it could also on other role)
Cons, he is not developing his role as a spiker, and as member of Japan National team, i think this not s good thing for his career because it could hinder this one on his career path
Honestly, I don't know why anyone in the professional volleyball world is "surprised" by Japanese players playing as liberos. Their entire Japan National Team outranked any players in terms of defense (Serve receptions, floor defense, 2nd touch assists, etc). The Japanese National Team squad is a bunch of liberos disguised as other positions. They are exceptional and recruiting them as other positions just mean you snagged a 2 for 1 deal! Lets just all admire how Japanese players are an all-around package players.

Terrible decision. After his transfer to club, it has messed with his natural spiker mentality.
This change has the potential of destroying is morale. Ran is used to being an "attention-grabber" per se. As a libero, he loses this element. For a short period in this new position, he will play like an all-star. However, for the long term, it will detriment him.
Praying that he never loses his spiking abilities and natural eagerness to slam balls.

I take it as an opportunity to hone jis skills in receiving. Its not all spiking in vball that matters. You do whatever you can to help the team win
@@spiralwhirlpool2366 He doesnt need to hone his skill as a libiro because his receives and defense are amazing. I agree that will cause motivation to the player. Blame the coach for his strategy, it is obvious that the setter isn't good in doing a good play as he is giving it only to few spikers in which the same quality of Ran's attack.
@@lovelillylove then why stop there? Hes only 19-20 and has a long amount of time to get experience whether in defense or spiking.
@@lovelillylove also one of the best libero, Grebennikov, played as an attacker in one of his league matches. Does that mean hes bad at being a libero? Of course not

He's doing very well as a libero at least in this video.
I think it's because they still can't exploit ran's abilities since he is in italy since a short period of time. If they put him in as libero and Gottardo as outside hitter, they can put Gottardo in if the team needs even more power in defense. Gottardo used to play oh in the national U21 team, so it's like having two liberos but one of them (gottardo) is able to coordinate with the setter (zimmermann) and score a point if necessary.
