I've been clean and sober since 1994. It is possible to stop drinking and using drugs. I hope Ted Williams uses his celebrity status to show the world how hard it is to stop drinking, but at the same time shows that being clean and sober can be done.

My father was like that, he was telling us all the time that he was gonna stop drinking for ten years, Thanks God he did stop and he has been cleaned for more than twenty years. My father went to rehab so I think this guy should do that. He lies because he is sick but he can do it , please William do not give up man.

Dr. Phil: "How are you feeling right now in the moment?"
Ted: "Like I wish a large safe would come down through the ceiling right now and take you down to the basement with it."
(thank you, Ted, for expressing the thoughts and prayers of every American who's ever watched Dr. Phil....)

Dr. Phil belittled Ted Williams bad , when he told him to clean his teeth. That was an insult in a terrible way! It was disrespectful for Ted, and was unbelievable for me, that I am left to still shaking my head!

@BrentAltonNally I heard Ted call several people "sir" over the past days; he also said "yes m'am" to his mother. He already explained why he's so polite; he said it's from his military background (3 years in the army) when he was young.

He needs to go to a place to center himself. Even if he is not an alcoholic he should go to place to let all of this sit in, to learn how to handle all the success, to give him skills to better management his relationships. I hope him all the best and I think that is in an intensive treatment program. Good luck Ted. I am pulling for you and know that the world will be rooting for you when you get to doing your thing. Take this time for you please.

Ted's a smart guy smarter then most life has made a humble man out of him his been around he know what's good for himself, All he need now is every one to understand and help in any way we can, Wish you the best of luck Ted and I wish these people would stop exploiting the man and let him do what he was born to do. A person could be up under so much pressure that it makes it easy for one to go back to there comfort zone where ever that may be. Every ones talking to the man like his a child.

I respect Dr. Phil very much. What he said there was the truth, plus he gave Ted a wonderful chance, that many people would wish for and don't get. It's a privilege to get such an offer. Ted looks concerned and fearful (at least to me), and why not? I would be anxious too. It's worth to take hold on to that chance, grab that, with fear or without fear, it doesn't matter. I do hope he took the chance 💕

Don't worry about it - Ted has a skill and and gift and will be in demand when he gets out of rehab.
Without rehab he doesn't have a prayer of handling his fame & money. His recovery has to come first -
Anybody who has experience with family or friends who are addicts know this to be true.

Why are ppl bashing dr Phil.....he's actually concerned about Ted. He's no gonna use a all sweet and polite language towards Ted cuz that's not gonna help him. He has to be straight and tell him what Ted needs to do. And that's what gonna help Ted.

The man just need some long term treatment in order to address some serious issues that are going on in his life.Hopefully,he will seize the opportunity and get real with himself so he can put his life back together.Just wish it wasn't in the media like it is but it was the media that discovered him and gave him another chance. It's not Dr.Phil's show that on trial.Ted is in a live or die moment.Take advantage of the offer and thank God for it.

Jennifer, my question was sarcastic and rhetorical but thanks anyways for answering the obvious. It is very evident that society has damaged Ted and many others by years of military training coupled with his addictions causing him to be in unfortunate situations and always being forced into subservient situations.

I'm sure that DP wants only the best for him but come on. put him somewhere on an island to rehab while he gets all the attention on this moment and enjoying his second chance. Let him enjoy his moment after what he has going through. Is it possible to do both, have a dream job and to rehab? If we don't have life experiences as Ted had, we can't really know how to react if this happening to us too.

Rasmussen, like others who have responded it appears that my comment has been misinterpreted from its intentions. I was simply pointing out how this nice person has been damaged his whole life by drug addiction and a sick, selfish, authoritarian society wich has made him into who he sadly is today: A nice guy who continues to try his hardest to succeed in this nonsensical society. My comment on "yes sir" really had nothing to do with Dr. Phil.

I really don't think this is fair. Ever since Ted was given all of this fame people (mainly publicly known individuals) have been treating him as though he is a rag-doll. Now, I KNOW all of these people want the best for him, they do not want him to fall in his past mistakes for a second time, but I mean come on! This guys rights and morals are being taken away! Everyone should have the right to go out and get a drink and as long as they do not abuse that privileged it is completely fine!

proper rehab, is....having some one.... to binge with, and to tell you to back up most of the times. those are good friends. friends in america nowadays arents suppose to do shit, but true rehab is, a friendship... that can integrate drugs, alcohol, nicotine... with out losing control, with integrating nature, culture, life comdey, grace. friendship, its a hard thing to come down to sometimes.

If you bother to take the time to understand the situation...you will note in nearly every single "interview" that Ted has done...he sites the help that was afforded him from the beginning. Your comment could clearly be summed up as follows "If it wasn't for Dr. Phil, Ted Williams would be homeless" discounting his numerous offers for help and employment.

Again...my topic is "Doctor" Phil and his mockery of Psychology. "Doctor" Phil is putting people in a situation that harbors defense. Defense harbors dishonesty as one of its tenants. Any reputable psychologist understands that is the reason for privacy. When "Doctor" Phil confronts Ted Williams about his former "dishonesty"...."Doctor" Phil is not addressing the context for the dishonesty (studio audience) that "Doctor" Phil created in the first place by having Ted on the show.

It's a fundamentally much more serious situation than your "StrawMan" argument would suggest. Resistance to the idea of "Sensationalizing" actual psychological help is both healthy and productive for society in general. Placing a sensationalized version of psychiatry on television that harbors false attitudes about psychiatry is not only a mockery of the profession and it's tenants that make it effective...it is an outright disingenuous advance towards patients themselves.

@blkpanther08 I think you're overreacting. And, why in the world should we treat people differently just because of their ethnicity? That's racism if you ask me. It's like you want white people to think of the "poor" black people who needs to be protected. How about we treat everyone the same instead of playing games with sensitivity and race. I don't always agree with Dr. Phils cut-throat approach, but that's how he is towards everybody and that should be a good thing. He's not a racist.

  • @CaptEm1
    @CaptEm1 14 років тому

@blkpanther08 I've seen the Dr. Phil show enough to say with confidence that he's like that with everybody. If there's someone he thinks is messing up their life he will tell it straight to their face. Sometimes he may come across as arrogant and authoritarian, but that's just how he is. It has nothing to do with race at all.

@nuahsx I choose to write God with capital G. It doesn't matter if you agree with that or not.
If an atheist saved my life, I would thank him/her AND God. Why would I have to choose one?
I believe in salvation by faith through Jesus Christ. I believe salvation brings eternal life. So if an atheist killed me (just because I thanked God? And this person is a doctor?), I believe I go to be with the Lord. I might lose my life here on earth, but I gain eternal life in Christ.
