    Update 11/4/22: The furnace filter saga continues, lol. I had a recent annual maintenance tune-up and found that the filter I have been using is too thin/won't catch all of the dust during air exchange...was advised to use the Flanders Natural Aire 20" x 30" Filter (SM1006)👍

      Update: A few minutes ago after writing my first comment I went to read the handbook for the furnace that came with my mobile home. Maybe you have the same one, but anyway, on Page 30 it says that twice a season we need to take the existing filter out and clean it by either vacuuming it or washing it with soap and water. If we wash it, we need to let it dry before reinstalling it, of course. This seems pretty simple, but of course you can also change your filter like you have done. In fact, I think that will be at least as good as cleaning the preexisting one.

      Hi there! Yes, unfortunately I missed filming that part, so sorry about that. There is small, round metal piece, about the size of a dime (kind of like a knob) at the very top of the white cover. I turn this left or right until there's a bit of a "give", then simply pull the white cover off. Hope that helps and thanks for watching :)

    do they make them the correct size with a better MERV rating? this is all we can find too and it doesn’t filter anything but big rocks and such that could ruin the hvac i guess?

      Hi jnagunst, I got the blue filter roll at a local home improvement store, but I've since learned that it's better to use a different filter from Walmart (for my furnace): Flanders Natural Aire 20" x 30" Filter (SM1006). It's green and in a clear package. Hope that helps and have a good night!

    Do you have a flat bottom section? Mine has that and it seems to be the only way to properly set the top back in place, but it doesnt stay shut. You can't put any pressure without it popping apart and falling

    • @trailersandtea
      @trailersandtea 8 місяців тому +1

      Hi Rhythm, yes, there's a flat bottom that the removal panel sits on top of, but there's also a button on top that turns/locks it into place so it won't fall. Not sure if yours has this? Good luck and hope you're able to fix it!

    Thanks for this. I'm curious whether the filter material (including the new Walmart filter you bought) is as effective as the fitted MERV filters. I just bought fitted filters...and they don't fit. This may be an easier solution.

    • @trailersandtea
      @trailersandtea Рік тому +1

      Hi Emily! Sure, this is the filter I'm using: Flanders Natural Aire 20" x 30" Filter (SM1006). I was able to find them at Walmart in the home improvement section. Yes, the top of my furnace panel has a little metal screw/button that has to be twisted in order to remove it/be able to get in there to change the filter. And it is very tricky! I have butter fingers so my son has been helping me...there's a certain way that he has to push it in and twist at the same time. Sorry if that wasn't too helpful, hopefully you are able to get it to work! Thank you for watching and have a good day!

    Simple. On your tour video, you mentioned your furnace being loud. That's probably due to the blower motor your manufacturer used. Depending on your finances and how much the noise annoys you, you may be able to get a much quieter blower motor installed by a reputable HVAC company.

    Horrible camera angles. You're not showing the entire grid. I have a two part system. One upper and one lower. I can't even tell if you put the filter in the entire thing or just the upper part. Put the camera back a little next time showing the entire furnace.. Thank you

    How do you take the interior a/c - furnace door off? I have the knob on the top but I don’t know if I turn to the right or left to unlock. I also do t know if I pull off or lift up to get the panel off to change the filter

    • @trailersandtea
      @trailersandtea 4 місяці тому +1

      Hi Racheil, mine too has a metal knob that I have to fudge with, both either to the R/L, until it "gives". It usually takes me a few minutes and can be tricky despite doing this every month for the past few years, lol. I also have to both pull the panel up to kind of slide it and then pull it off once it has cleared the insert area if that makes sense. Maybe a local HVAC person could come for a tune-up and help demonstrate how yours works? Hope that helps and have a good day :)
