This works just as she says. I changed the battery in my phone today. Abit hard to get the back cover off, but once you get in, everything else goes smoothly. Just take your time, do not rush and you'll be fine.
Those of you who mention that it doesn't matter if you damage the screen while removing it, since you'd only remove it if it was broken already: NOT TRUE. On the S7, you need to remove the screen in order to replace the charge/USB flex assembly, since the home & back buttons wrap around through the center frame and under the screen. Only way to get that assembly out is to remove the screen too, which might be fine so you do NOT want to be damaging the screen.
If you get that far it should be easy to finish. Just fit the display flex through the slot and make sure it lines up with the earpiece mesh and home button and.. press it on lol
the adhesive? it is to be assumed to remove the old adhesive if your replacement screen has it, otherwise (not recommended) you can reuse the old adhesive if its okay condition
mmz12 why is this part not in the video it's stupid how is his videos so popular it's like the first result for this keyword Galaxy S7 screen replacement
First off, I like the quality of this video. Very good sound, you can hear the technician loud and clear, the background music is not an obstruction and they do zoom in on the important parts so, kudos on that iFixit but.... I am a PC technician myself and this videos is: 1) About removing (not replacing) the screen. While one can revert the steps, the title should reflect the content. 2) About removing an UNCRACKED screen... Hmmm... just as a heads up, it gets A LOT MESSIER when prying cracked glass... She even says it: "Not to perform unless it is broken..." And the phone looks SPARKLING new... doubt that LCD had any issues... 3) Way OVER SIMPLIFIED! The purpose of a video is also to teach the struggle! 4) If she did crack the screen, why not to show it? I believe mistakes teach a lot. Humility is in order iFixit. We all do it and own it... 5) GREED: The answer to 99% of your questions about materials or wanting the users to user Samsung techs only... Greed destroys everything. No wonder is a capital sin so we monkeys don't go and screw up ourselves in the end! LOL! 6) Anybody has a good suggestion of a video to replace JUST the digitizer? Or should I just forget it? 7) How many of the viewers here with a 100% success rate are paid by iFixit? :D
does anyone else find it wrong that ifixit doesn't get more views even though their videos are through, easy to follow, and simple? Ifixit, its not your fault, the majority of humans are just stupid. I LOVE your videos!!! Please keep them coming:)
Guys please watch out on this: Remove the battery carefully and dont use metal tools on battery, i used a small metal screwdriver and the battery exploded. Pay attention on what tools you use, and if is no need for that, don't do it yourself. Edit: So be carefull on battery removeing, idk how but i perforated the battery, this caused the explosion. MB was not affected, i dont see any visual issues right now, i ordered a new battery and cleaned up the ash. I will tell you if the phone is still working after this incident. Edit:The phone is alive, perfectly working, but because of the battery explozion I had to change the lower buttons module, volum buttons band, rear camera and of course the battery. If is no need for this, don't do it YOURSELF
You know why newer phone screens crack so easily? Scratch resistant glass. Its too porous, id much rather have a few scratches after years of use than a cracked glass just from dropping it from 2 feet.
Really nice and detailed video but where is the replacement part?? How am I supposed to put the new screen back and what adhesive am I gonna use and where can I get it all?
This is going to be my first screen repair. I learned how to take S7 apart. But how to put together? What glue should I use for the the LCD assembly and the frame? The same liquid LOCA glue which I am going to use for the lcd lens?
Also try using rubbing alcohol with a small applicator bottle with a fine point plus a pick(I use plastic/waterproof playing cards instead) instead of the heat gun. Less chance to damage components and it's faster once you get the hang of it. Sometimes a little will get into the camera lens but then you just blow it out
Just dropped my Galaxy S7 yesterday by accident while trying to sing and read the lyrics and now has a crack on the front right bottom part of the phone. Is it worth replacing the phone by getting a new phone it self, or is it better to just have the screen replaced on the phone.
I will be using this video as a guide to fix my phone, but if I can throw some feedback, can you guys create a video showing how to put all the components back?? I feel that the video might be incomplete and any first timer can get lost once the screen is out.
is there a way of knowing if you got original or some replacement type LCD on your galaxy s7? since my service the screen looks (feels) not so precise..
Hi i am nethaji from india I have s7 edge mobile display got damaged can i trust mobilesentrix to purchase s7 edge lcd display please madam let me know which is the better site to purchase lcd display
thats a great vid!! does the home button stay on the mid frame after the screen is removed? is the home button replaceable? if the other components to the left and right of the home button are damaged too, can they be replaced? can the whol lower portion be replaced? thanks. also, if the back cover needs to be replaced, can a cover without glass be used? if one is made... ( p. s. youre hot!! ) thanks oh, if the home button is replaced, will the finger print feature work too? thanks : - ) can the on-board ROM be increased by chip desoldering and unused contacts resoldered when re-installing? thanks
great video,my s7 edge fell off everything was normal but it appears to be a pink line running vertical on the right side of the screen,it disappears by applying a little pressure on the Samsung logo above the screen but unfortunately comes,is there a possible fix without having to replace the whole display assembly??
I used to be able to easily replace the outer glass on my S4 mini. Are the LCD and outer glass not different separate components as on the S4 mini? And if it is, and you don't need to replace the LCD can you not replace the outer glass only without going in through the back?
David glass only repairs without the proper tools can be way more time consuming, risky, and overall difficult. It’s actually less of a headache to just replace the entire display.
Hi, need your help in this. My S7 display is broken and its touchscreen doesn't work. I went to a place and they told me that to repair it they would must have to replace the battery as well. Can you tell if that's true, please? Cause It doesn't make sense to me. Thanks
@ 1:35 "If you run into a lot of resistance, just use more heat . . " I will remember that on my next date with my wife. Lucky when showing how to do repairs, the camera isn't taken from the front view, us guys will never be able to concentrate on what you're doing. The LARGE display is way to distracting.
"Us guys." No. You chose to be distracted by that and that is not her fault. She wasn't even wearing a shirt that would have been distracting (of course it would not be wrong of her to choose to wear a shirt like that if she wanted to, though; it still would not take away from the purpose of the video), so what else could she do. It's disgusting that you chose to focus and comment on her physical appearance, rather than the content of the video. For the record, I'm a lesbian and that was not a distraction for me. I chose to see her as a person who is educating me on a specific topic, not to sexualize her based on her appearance. Please save your whole, "it's how men are wired" BS. It's a matter of how you're socialized and taught to act, which can be unlearned. Please treat people for what they are, people, and not sexual objects that you insist to be "distracted" upon.
The first time I didn’t notice. How ever I went back to review, and yes, I noticed the “Large Display” myself. Allanah you’ll never understand so leave it be.
not hard to watch what she has done to remove the screen to put it back on again? the old adhesive can be used if its not in a bad condition. jst keeps the phone more watertight. dont know if you can buy a putty or adhesive as a replacement though. good video. will deffo help people if their handy with a tool kit and delicate wires and terminals.
You didn't say about the touch screen part between the front and the actual display. I cracked the touch screen when pushing the front screen from the back. The touch screen is still attached while the actual glass display is off now. I don't know what to do next, whether to just put the new one on or what. Darn it...
It would be both impractical and unlikely. For you to separate the display panel from the glass you'd need equipment like a nitrogen freezer. you may need to buy some adhesive, these can be found relatively cheap on eBay. (currently in the process to replace the screen on one of these and I ordered a few adhesive strips to place in the frame when resealing it)
This works just as she says. I changed the battery in my phone today.
Abit hard to get the back cover off, but once you get in, everything else goes smoothly. Just take your time, do not rush and you'll be fine.
this wasn't really how to replace the screen, more just how to remove it
@Aierek you forgot to mention that you might need to replace the old adhesive. The video completely forgot about that
@@CVerse if you are attempting a repair of this level. You should know that

This video convinced me that I'm not going to replace my screen and will either pay someone to do it or live with it!
Thank Christ, someone whonactually gives instructions and is clear about what to do. I'm gonna have to do this once I can afford a replacement.
Thank you , I just fixed my daughter phone , she is over the moon !

Warning, indeed.
Shame on you, Samsung, for making such a difficult device to repair.
Shame on them indeed. Adhere the edges? Sure. But why the entire backing as well with such limited access.. and then the curved edges. lol
Nich Longe UR REPLACING IT ANYWAYS

chill out, thirsty.
The reason is the displays are too expensive at $300-$400 when you can get a new phone now for around $700.00
Maybe it's because they post videos like this where they only do half the job...

Really nice and detailed video but where is the replacement part?? How am I supposed to put the new screen back and what adhesive am I gonna use and where can I get it all?
Can you use a hairdryer instead of a heat gun??
Should i replace my LCD when i broke up this black thing under the battery? Thanks for repply.
When replacing the screen and digitize why unplug the mother board. Just unplug the screen wire. Just asking.
The heat would destroy the MB.. the AMOLE is protected by glass and the frame, the MB is nacked in the frame..
Great cans...
This is going to be my first screen repair. I learned how to take S7 apart. But how to put together? What glue should I use for the the LCD assembly and the frame? The same liquid LOCA glue which I am going to use for the lcd lens?
Noooooooo
90% of the time you don't even need more glue. Use small amounts of thin decent tape on the edges if needed though
Also try using rubbing alcohol with a small applicator bottle with a fine point plus a pick(I use plastic/waterproof playing cards instead) instead of the heat gun. Less chance to damage components and it's faster once you get the hang of it. Sometimes a little will get into the camera lens but then you just blow it out
Please do one on replacing the explosion in the Note 7.
Tim Adams The Note 7 is being rereleased anyways. It comes with a smaller battery.
3rd time's the charm, eh? :)
Not sure if you are trolling or straight down stupid.
Those are my only options? Not sure if you have no sense of humor or you're from Samsung. 18 people (so far) seem to understand. ;)
"The Note 7 did not explode" - Joke of the 21st century.
I like your method best by removing the battery and motherboard first, then starting the screen release from behind as opposed to edge first.
This was unintentionally methodically soothing, akin to an ASMR.
Please change the subject with this " how to remove screen for galaxy s7 edge?"....
if the screen is broken can you just break thru is and just replace it seems alot easier. or it's the screw on also attach to the screen itself?
Just dropped my Galaxy S7 yesterday by accident while trying to sing and read the lyrics and now has a crack on the front right bottom part of the phone. Is it worth replacing the phone by getting a new phone it self, or is it better to just have the screen replaced on the phone.

Can you also use a heatgun with 2000 watt?
why do they have to take everything from the back if it's only the screen broken

Yes
You didn't say about the touch screen part between the front and the actual display. I cracked the touch screen when pushing the front screen from the back. The touch screen is still attached while the actual glass display is off now. I don't know what to do next, whether to just put the new one on or what. Darn it...

Jeez dude. Like you've never seen a woman before.
Beautiful is a bit strong. Nice jugs tho 🤣😉
If you replace cracked front screen, why do you need to open the back?
Nice work.love you.
Not to be picky, but could you show us how to "replace" the display?
is it possible to replace the screen only and not the screen and LCD ? it looks like they replaced both in this video
It would be both impractical and unlikely. For you to separate the display panel from the glass you'd need equipment like a nitrogen freezer. Then to adhere new glass.. a laminator to set the OCA and an autoclave to aid in removing bubbles. Definitely not a DIY job. If you somehow get crazy lucky with heat and playing cards.. you'd have to not remove the display from the midframe and then your only choice is UV glue which I just can't recommend.
I am enjoying watching this but then I saw some parts melted! too much heat was used in softening the adhesive..
