My tent is a $60 instant up tent. It has stood up to four days of torrential rains with hail, high winds and it flooded around me. It is the only item that came through the high winds we just had. Inexpensive tents are not all bad. I have had it 4 years and I do have a couple of small patches from the rocks here. Research the shape of the tent for high winds, notice the stitching, and the doors and windows. My tent is one of the best for high winds. Putting down extra guide ropes with deep stakes are a must! Make sure you know which way the winds generally blow and don't put a full side flat against the wind. You can put it diagonally. Canopies must come down. I was not aware this time because I was such. My gazebo stayed up but needs ro be redone, the same as the bathroom tent. Canopies, down. Research is the key. Even low end tents can be improved against wind. I camp in a tent full time, four seasons.
Keep water by your fire. A good amount but if there is wind over 12mph is no go. Cautious at 10mph. I have a deep fire pit to help keep it contained just leave space around it to get air. Fire pit just built on the ground with one row of stones is not very safe if there are breezes. Buikd it in an area free of plants and organic debris. If you have a fire extinguisher keep it close by as well. You would be surprised on how fast fire spreads.

I watched a youtube creator yesterday. I think she said she was in Laposa south. One of the people near her camp had everything stolen when he went to town. Some people saw some people on bicycles take all his stuff. He was tent camping, so most likely not much money. They took everything he owned.

You can get 300 lb magnets for less than $10 if you want to tape some inside for a magnet mount on the outside. Probably too much trouble though.
