Oh, this beautiful odd piece really shows how Homme plays up against the rythm of the song. With his uncanny sense of timing he makes it swing and otherwise repetitive rythms change perspective and direction. He is a real master of this way of using the guitar. And I love it! Thanks for sharing.
He's the most innovative guitarist of his era...he does so much with so little and made rock danceable with his groove...add to this his songwriting and singing...unreal
he says in some interview from a young age when he started playing he intentionally wanted to play the weirdest things possible, and would experiment in trying to take notes out of scales, "most of my playing is about taking something away" in a music theory sense, this takes away the "relief" in a section of music where your brain is expecting what kind of note is supposed to come next in the pattern, or what note its supposed to end on, creating a lot more tension and actually creates a little bit of stress in listening, it creates dissonance where what you're hearing doesn't sound "right" but it still sounds "correct"... if that makes sense, and after while can be really enjoyable, this is why qotsa music has always sounded a bit strange and can have a lot of intensity or a really sticky groove. Homme also mostly plays in C standard which tunes down the guitar quite a bit and complements the mood
@@BigHotSauceBoss69 That was the Noisey interview where they are sitting in a hot garage sweating and presumably stoned. Great interview, Josh says that if you want more than the joy of playing, you want too much.
Great comment. He’s a monster on the guitar but he’s a better songwriter. Josh constructs sonic masterpieces where every instrument plays its part (secret to being great). I actually heard Kyuss first and didn’t get it … once I heard QOTSA I became a fan for life (went back to Kyuss in the end).
Oh, *this* is where that goes and where this fits. Oidar Eht Ni Si Dog I don't believe a stronger wave of creativity has ever been harnessed by a musician or group of musicians than QotSA navigating its way through the first album to the Rated R material and then to SFTD. Beethoven couldn't hit harder.
@@whipshaw Don't what? Are you able to lead a conversation like an adult? You said it's a *song*. I said, it's not a song, it's an instrumental. Your reply "instrumental is also music" doesn't make sense -- I've never disputed the fact that instrumental is music, I said 'Cathedral City' is not a song.

HOLY SH*T!!! I had no idea there actually was a studio version of this!!😱😱😮 I only knew the live version, this is great, thanks for the upload, sir ✌👋
Look up God Is in the Radio Fuse. It's a live performance of them doing this song with Mark Lanegan on vocals doing God's lyrics. It's bad fucking ass
Dude thank you for that
This jam has long, hot, dusty, Desert Drive all over it. Signature sounds of early QOTSA 'Droid Rock' pervade. Just awesome. Thanks for the upload!
SftD + Era Vulgaris, plus a little bit of "Headache"
I'd never heard this before. .. please keep uploading more stuff like this :D
Nicolás Guirao I second this to the utmost degree.
I know im 3 years late but i think this is a remaster of God is In The Radio from the songs for the deaf album.
(kind of a remix i guess)
Man i wish this was on an album!! Would have fitted on lullabies so well
This is the Droid I lost all along the desert road.
Thanks uncle*
Songs For the Era Vulgaris
Era of the Deaf
Its the backing track for "God is in the Radio". So f++king good
love it. i didnt recognize god is in the radio in this
This is really cool thank you ...
amazing.
I recognize "I Sat By the Ocean" here.
this shit is awsome ..nothing like it
Wish they still sounded like this.o well
Each of their albums has its own sound. They wouldn't be as good if they all sounded the same

Beethoven couldn't hit harder.
I did not know that
This version is so much better than the original! Just miss Lanegan's voice. Shame the live version is cut short
Sicily ITNR vibes
best qotsa song
It's not bad but far from best. Besides, it's not even a song, just an instrumental.
@@computermaster360 haha! instrumental is also music
