I kinda prefer the blue livery used in the 1990s than the white livery used today.
FastCarsNoRules220 it was also used in the 70s and 80s
Yeah, I agree. In my opinion, the coolest American police car is a mid 1990s NYPD RMP.
Just realized that they simply reversed the color scheme.
Same
I would love to know the Blue Paint code
I remember the blue 1990 Caprice cars a lot. Seeing them in real life and in 1990's movies and shows
Like in law and order?
what fun it was being a kid in the 70's in Queens and my mom coming home in one of the green/white or blue/white NYPD cars on her lunch break and I could play in the cars ........ just no touching the radio.
Your mom was a cop?
@@julianholm7531 27 years with the NYPD
Copndonuts Nice! I wanna be a cop when I grow up.
@@julianholm7531 I did it for 18 years but had to go out on disability ......... was hoping to do 27 like my mom. Enjoyed it so much for the most part.
Copndonuts sorry, bro. Same thing happened to my uncle.
It makes me so happy to see the blue ones
0:46 my two favourite police vehicles. The caprice and crown vic
Yesss crown Vic
I agree both are my favorite
LOL. Nobody caught it. The Red/White Police Car with 54 on it is from the TV show, "CAR 54 Where Are You?" which starred Joe E. Ross and Fred Gwynne as Officers Toody and Muldoone. The show was based out of the fictional 53rd Precinct in the Bronx. "There's a holdup in the Bronx, Brooklyn's broken out in fights there's a traffic jam in Harlem that's backed up to Jackson Heights. There's a scout troop short a child, Khrushchev's due at Idlewild. Car 54 Where Are Youuuuuu?????"
Actually that is not true. The car had the same wording on it then as it does today, including POLICE and 53rd PCT. What made the car different from authentic police cars of the day, was the color. It was red, they were blue, but filmed in black and white, it looked the same as a the real cars.
I read that that colour red gave the correct shade of grey in black and white.
I`ll always miss these lovely colours by NYPD - Last time i saw one of those was back in 2003.
I LOVE the old-style 1950s sirens!
*The job should return all the rmp's back to the old color!*
M
How far back?
Are we talking the blue & white?, black & white? Or as far back to when they were still on horseback?
Juan Bear I think blue and white I’m not sure tho
I want to see them all on horseback!
Agreed..
Nice I remember the blue and white diplomats even i was an kid growing up in Brooklyn
I LOVE the modern day police patrol car with the old paint scheme from the early 70's! Very COOL!
I love their blue paint
Dude the old blue and white scheme was so unique and beautiful. I heard that the NYPD used that scheme so the cars could stay cool during the summer. However those old school Caprices were so much cooler than the actual Ford Explorers and those ugly hybrids...
2:16 is my favorite is version of the NYPD cars even though I really like the blue ones.
Amazing as hell. Two things I love history and cops. "Ma'ma can you please get into the oldsmobile."
2:31 interesting to say as I personally like the Ford Taurus with the Vintage Livery but most of the cars I like alot due to my taste in old cop cars and modern ones
Ah the old green and black jobs bring back memories when the guys from the local house were always reaching out to me on the street. I think the current paint jobs are the best in the country. IMHO. Cheers.
Crown and Caprice ❤️
Memory’s my grandfather was a police officer at governors island and was a sergeant in the police department
actionkid, AWESOME video!! As a kid I remember the black and green cars and the funky siren on the plymouth wagon. Nice work!
Thanks!
A convertible police car??? man I have seen it all.
I love the nypd blue and White police cars with BiG rotate beacon that is real american in the 80s ☺
I remember when all cop cars on the road were Impalas! lol, not too long ago
That is very cool!!! Amazing they were able to show all the old police cars. Amazing how much some have changed over time. Few weeks ago (uploaded on my channel) I got to see some old style double decker English buses.
I love red! I also remember the police cars used to be blue. I was a little girl then before moving away in 1968 and visiting many times until my mom’s passing. I haven’t been to New York City for years since the pandemic
0:08 and 1:29 - "Car 54 we found you!" Well done, guys. :-)
Very cool!
When I was Hired The First RMP Around was the 1983 Plymouth Grand Fury (Blue & White). Also, was The Plymouth Volare but they were being fazed out. Then We switched to the Dodge Diplomats (Blue & White) Then The Chevrolet Caprice (Blue & White) Then Switch to the Ford Crown Vics (Blue & White) Then they painted the Crown Vics White and drove those until I retired in 2005.
You was “In the Bag” for over 20 years then? God Bless You for being able to do that. Met a few guys at 1PP years ago & they were all great! Even went to the Iron Works & got a few T-Shirts, ect to take back home & traded a few of our uniform patches for some at the shop at 1PP. The one guy at 1PP was like the last holdout to give up his revolver for the semi-auto Glock that Everyone else was carrying.
Bravo à tous ces collectionneurs pour garder en mémoire et de les mettrent en présentation ces jolies voitures de police américaine 🚨 elles avaient un sacré style 👏👏👍👍😋
2:11 all three cars that i lov3, caprice, crown vic and impala
1:17 Nice Whelen Advantedge. Haven't seen one of those in a long time.
The Fury wagon is awesome and the siren is the best
'61 Plymouth Belvedere is really cool. Red and white one.
The 1980s Chevy Caprice 9c1s and the 2003 Chevy Impala interceptors will always be my favorite versions of the NYPD police cars
That looks GLORIOUS because I love blue.
The red liveried car was likely the one used in the sitcom "Car 54, Where Are You?"
That red one rocked and i cant believe American police had a convertible police car! We Brits have Shit Vauxhall astras!!
you do know why the car was red?
The convetible car was never used as a patrol car,and the green an black colors on it were last used in 1973,so i think it was painted like that just for show.
I miss the caprice and the cvpi
The green is awful.Bring back the blue ones! Blue all the way,it's more easily indistinguishable, especially from the choppers and in cases of high speed chases. They stand out. 💙🚔💙🚓💙🚔💙💙💙❣
Ford Taurus interceptor with the old color scheme looks great.
I am fascinated by seeing vehicles from the original big three manufacturers, all of them wore NYPD markings at one point. I think I need to watch Ghostbusters now.
😎
I remember when the police cars were BLACK, WHITE AND GREEN and had the siren under the hood. Then the FEDERAL PULSATOR came out with the siren on the roof of the police cars.
0:38 look like a old ghostbusters car
Awwwww I love this, Thanks for sharing.😊😊
Glad you enjoyed the video!
i liked the plymouth/ dodge police cars in the 1970's, the slat six seemed like it would go for ever, and could really take punishment!
I have been to goveners island so fun I also went to the police museum
0:42 it’s the ghost busters car lmao
The CVPI will always be the classic.
0:01 Blue and Brown NYPD Sheriff Style CVPI , F.D.N.Y 90's Dodge Monaco , Green , White and Blue NY Transit Police CVPI , Blue and White Chevy Caprice
I remember those on STATEN ISLAND PORT RICHMOND ....
The one at 0:23 kinda creeps me out but in a good way, my favorite one
that one is badass siren :) sound like Scientific Prototypes Mark VII Siren
This is some crazy history.
Those cop cars are in nice restored showroom floor appearance, definatly not originally used on daily bases
I miss the Crown Victoria and Caprice.
I love the Caprice
I liked the Ford Taurus. The black and green fits it.
Awesome I have used a lot of these cars in my patrols lcpdfr and lspdfr I do on gta v also a security officer for now not sure if I'll do it once snow comes to hard on me being in below zero weather and can't even use my heater much due to gas but it was a interesting three years gonna do it a bit longer
What's with the green?
Sad part about this is i remember when a lot of those cars were in services :*)
I like the car from the 70's and 80's
Are these vehicles privately owned?
Love the Plymouth Fury & Chevrolet Caprice cars.
Did that police car have a Q2B on it?
The red and white one is my favorite in this video.
thats car 54 from the show
New york sure does know how to give their old fleet some love unlike my city.....
The Crown Vic’s are still in 2019
not for nypd
There's HARDLY any left, now.
@@LITTLE1994 there are like 5 units of them now, not counting for the unmarked one. I've seen one of them yesterday parked and man it looks so rough, the body has seen better days, lot of dents, but I believe the engine is still healthy as I hear it idling really good
@@Frallxs they should preserve some
@@visionist7 I lived in California now and when I passed a police building there are always a Crownvic parked, mostly the unmarked one. And I actually spotted one of the unmarked unit responding code 3 two days ago! Really nice to see some of them still roaming the street, and I think my departement won't lose them, at least for now, and they will hung their last units for a quite some time before they finally are no good for transport (which I believe won't happened lol)
Strange to see a red police car. I would associate red paint with the fire department.
I like all the colouars including the white livery
Other notable cop cars used by the NYPD include the 1976 Pontiac Catalina and the LeMans.
:40 love the old station wagon cruiser
now that was a cool video!
i like the big fat old rotating ones like the one at 0:28 to 0:34
NYPD VS LCPD
NEW YORK POLICE
LIBERTY CITY POLICE
FAN NEED FOR SPEED you talking about Grand Theft Auto I see
LCPD>LSPD. They are more polite and not sensitive.
The good old crown vic
Parabéns gostei muito desse vídeo das policia da cidade dos Estados Unidos da América .🙌👦🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👮👮👮🖐👮👮👮👮👮🚔🚔🚔🚔🚔🚔🚔🚔🚔🚓🚓🚓🚓🚓🚓🚓🚓🚓
What is the blue car at 2:00 ? (1875) I love the American 1970's police cars.
1974 Plymouth Satellite
1:41 Kid Dabbing In Front Of Car From 30s
That's awesome
NYC Sheriff should take a green livery.
notice all the nosy people there
I'm getting Ghostbusters vibes from the blue ones.
I remember bck in the day when those blue and whites responding with fdny Mack's
New police cars is not charming
That beacon at 3:13 looks like a coffee shop cookie jar.
What’s that siren at 0:40?
0:08 yes please!
I love it
I like the blue ones.
I guess we found car 54!
Hey everybody who was watching this video I have a question of the blue White police cars what year did we had them
Why is it so hard to find a 1950s siren I'm trying to make a movie
What department has the green, black and white?
The dark green was the paint job of the NYPD. Look up the movie Serpico and you will see that dark green being used back in the 60's-70's
What Dept were the green, white, and black cars?
NYPD. Their cars were green and white until 1973 when they switched to the blue and white paint scheme
Those old cars wearing a choker overcoat, 8-point cap, swivel holster with a revolver in it and a good solid night stick was all you needed to patrol the streets back then.
Chickenman702 a couple of vehicles wearing that paint scheme are a modern day Ford Police Interceptor sedan and a Chrysler convertible from the 2000s, so my guess is that they're used in a branch of the NYPD (I couldn't quite read the writing on those, so maybe they're commemorative units.)
Thanks everybody. What uniform is the guy wearing next to the Sebring at 1:23?
He's wearing the old uniform shirt of the NYPD . Can't remember when exactly they changed the shirt, but think it was early 90's. Can't make out the patch on his left shoulder of what unit it represents. At one time, the NYPD patch was only worn on the right arm. NYHAPD (NY Housing Authority Police Department) and NYTPD (NY Transit Police Department) had patches on the left arm. NYPD started with the wearing of 2 patches in the late 70s - one on each arm. NY Housing Authority police eventually merged with NYPD in the late 80's and in the early 90's NY Transit Police merged with NYPD Making it all one Department.
0:40 1972 Plymouth fury wagon
Like the 1966 Chevrolet Biscayne.
Man I just wish I was there
0:40 is my favorite.
Do you know what it’s called?
Red NYPD Police sedans?
that was for the show "Car 54 Where Are You" which was in black and white and the red color stood out better in b/w film.
It was also so it wouldn't be confused with the actual police cars on the road which were, at the time, green and black.
the classic 1980s police yelp.
Empty holster, you on the air?
