Here in America, none of my friends know of the Carry On series but, for 35 years, I've been a big fan. The first one I saw was Carry On Cruising, in 1975. The antics of Kenneth Connor, Charles Hawtrey, Kenneth Williams, Joan Sims, and the rest, always break me up. I have the DVD boxed set, and I never tire of watching the films.
Kenneth Williams thought this man was fantastic in every film of the Carry On Series he appeared in. A very high accolade considering he was hugely critical of several other co stars.
god i wasnt even born when this kenneth was being interviewed :( still to this day i love all the carry no stars :) RIP to them all, including kenneth Connor :)
I remember Kenneth Connor even further back than that. In the early 1950's he was in "Ray's a Laugh" with Ted Ray. Kenneth took the part of "Sidney Mincing" - an hilarious part, always greeted with big applause whenever he came on. He was also in at least one of the Blackadder series. A long career - one of England's gems.
He contributed by being a gifted comic actor who could derive the maximum comic effect out of the script. He was also very funny when appearing in TV panel games which he did in the Sixties.
What a truly succinct and apt line he says ‘ it’s a waste of time avoiding or pretending you know nothing about’. This applies to all societies and none more so than today.
Because he was an excellent comic actor. His timing was wonderful, he could hold an audience and was very good at playing to the camera. He was just as good at physical comedy as he was the verbal which you can see from his 'Macbeth' scene in an episode of Blackadder III. This is only my opinion of course but I think he could steel a scene. I will ask you a question now. If you can't see why people thought he was good, why are you watching him on this website?
Yes i think all the main players are gone but there are still some that appeared in them alive like the lovely Anita Harris and the equally lovely Amanda Barrie - having d=said that when you posted that comment some were still alive but sadly gone now after 10 years - I hope you havent gone too
JESUS CHRIST - The Son of God - God Himself came into this world, He died for our sins, He was buried, and God the Father raised Him from the dead, and through His Sacrifice we live in victory - GET SAVED - JESUS CHRIST IS LORD !

American's tend to know about themselves; they're highly tribalistic.

Kenneth is so different here from his on-screen persona. He's almost like a Senior Judge or barrister. Thanks so much for uploading.

Brill actor. Remember him as one of The ACTORS in Blackadder. Absolutely HILARIOUS!!! RIP Sir...
Thanks for this. What a nice gent. Love his comment on 'going through life pretending not to know what smut is'.
An absolute gentleman.
Truly excellent comic actor. Arguably the funniest of them all in the films. And what a beautiful speaking voice.

Kenneth and Peter Butterworth were great friends. I loved Kenneth, he was such a great talent.
Kids recognize him from the Carry on Series
Men recognize him from Black Adder
Legends Know him as Monsieur Alphonse in Allo Allo
lovely lovely man,god bless him.Very underrated comedy actor and one of my favorites in the entire series.
love Kenneth Connor in Allo' Allo' as Under Taker (& his small horse ) swiftness & with style !!
He contributed by being a gifted comic actor who could derive the maximum comic effect out of the script. He was also very funny when appearing in TV panel games which he did in the Sixties.
Wonderful actor Kenny Connor Was loved him in carry on films
what a classy man
Nothing like his on screen persona, he talks so posh.
Thus far, I've only ever seen him in allo allo, so I'm used to hearing him talk in an outrageously exaggerated French accent

One infinite thanks!
Crikey the late great Bob Monkhouse is in there as well.

Yes Viv Lumsden - she had quite a good career - she married someone and they did things together on tv

Yes he was in the first one carry on Sargent.

Clearly he hated the process of being interviewed and she was a particularly bad interviewer.
Poor interview. She talks too much.
