This is why I always come back to the channel, nobody does bike/people interactions as good as Dustin Klein! The riding the interviews the music is all platinum!
long sleeves also protect you from all the nasty plants, plus all the other positive things you mentioned. Long sleeves for the win... the bike looks perfect for those trails. great vid, looks like a fun event.
"Not be a degenarate" best comment ever 🤣Never thought I'd enjoy watching a video of someone riding a bike. Your videos are really good! I am a short sleeve sun blocker user and don't mind getting some scratches from time to time. Not being able to shower on such an event must be tough though.
I am a cyclist and a sailor and a surfer and every time I see crew that are in their late 60s early 70s or later they become another inspiration for me to keep doing stuff in my late 50s
Every time I come back to this channel, I’m amazed by just how nice a guy you are. You gotta sub just for that, but it also helps the content is great too
Great, funny video. I'm the guy who wanted ice-cream! My wife didn't know but got me an ice-cream sandwich in New Denver. Good meeting you on the trails, I'm a subscriber now.
Great Video as Always! I also struggle with events as a very average cyclist. One side of me says have fun, it's a fun event, but the other side says, every event is also a race, where do you think you can place, that's why you have a timing chip! The struggle is real. Side note: might want to double check the auto captions at 15:53 🍆🍆
2k feet/20miles changed into same units is 609.6m climbed / 32186.88m traveled or 5/264 simplified, I'm getting an average grade percentage of 1.894 which is a lot closer to the golden ratio, 1.618 than I expected it to be. Granted this is end of the workday napkin math so I could be way off base
I am firmly a ride for fun. I like doing races for the comradery, festive vibes, and personal challenge. The vast majority of my rides are solo, which I like it that way, but human contact is necessary. Anytime I try to race a race, I either overdo it and don't have fun or I get injured.
Do you run a hub speed sensor for your Garmin? I used to get random pauses as well when my Garmin was using strictly gps to track but now it used a speed sensor for speed so it can see my speed accurately at all times and only pauses when I am actually stopped
The numbers show that most riders might never race.. I would think that a multi day adventure like this would be right up your alley... Even if you aren't there for the win..
I raced for a few years back in the late 80s. It took until 2024 for Dustin to explain to me that what I was really doing was "non-competitive" racing.
How do you feel about the new ZIPP 303 XLPR SW? They have an internal rim width of 32mm for gravel!? The Forge+Bond 25 Carbon Gravel Wheel Set only has a 25mm internal rim width which is the same as the ZIPP endurance wheels (353 NSW Tubeless Disc-brake). [I also noticed the Forge+Bond 25 All-Road Gravel Wheel Set only has a 25mm internal rim width]
the feel of Fusion Fiber is so different then Carbon. Those zipps looks amazing tho. but Deep is usually more Rigid. This could be an interesting video?
@@EverythingsBeenDone That would be such a cool video! Compare different carbon gravel specific wheels and really talk about what makes Fusion Fiber unique.
Sunscreen can kiss my ass. I have a long-sleeve POC jersey meant for the bike park that I bought mainly because it had a pocket near the hem. My short sleeve Sea Otter jersey has one on the other side and it completely changed my life. The phone was much more accessible than in the cargo bib pocket under my baggy shorts, wasn't pulling my baggies down like the zippered rear pocket would, I don't constantly have to move it between the vest and my other pockets, and I don't feel it or the weight at all in that spot. Buuut the pocket on the POC jersey is a lil small for my phone, being meant mainly for your lift ticket, so I'm in the market for a different one with a bigger pocket.
Short sleeve and no sunblock. I used it back in the day, but rarely anymore. Sunblock has a lot of garbage in it that is not healthy for you. I’d rather soak up the sun’s goodness. If I’m going to be out for an extended period of time I will go long sleeve. I ride gravel and dirt roads and have done very little mountain biking. Those trails look fantastic and beautiful but definitely beyond anything I could do unfortunately.
People like Rick are the inspiration for why I ride. I hope to be that spry when I’m 70
Greatest show on the internet 👍👍
True Player!
Salt on Melon made my day.
Okay I wholeheartedly agree

Holy smokes, dude got rocked! No pun intended.
The bloody head! I was like should I tell him???
What a star! 70 years old and riding a 6 day single track stage race!
Looked like a good time. Short sleeves top with sunblock arm sleeves. Lets in a little more air. Thanks for the video and take care, Al
PLayer!!
Zone 0 for life!
SO Good!! LOL

Creek Cooled .... Sleeves/neck and back ! Top Tip!
A six day race is pretty hard-core DK, respect, even if you did it chilled out.
Flipping the script made the whole thing Flow 😉
15 miles with 4,000 ft of climbing is absolutely INSANE
I am a cyclist and a sailor and a surfer and every time I see crew that are in their late 60s early 70s or later they become another inspiration for me to keep doing stuff in my late 50s
You're super rad Dustin - great vid too!
PLAYER!
Love,Love,LOVE the MTB factor, DK!
Great video - and shout out to Rick - what a guy - still cycling and living it large - Go Rick Go!
This is by far my favorite channel. Keep um coming Dustin! You provide the stoke to get out there.
Now... after today's bike ride, sit down, snacks and watch if "Everything's been done" today. And I'm not disappointed. Amazing show again 🤩
Glad you enjoyed yourself up here in BC. You should visit more often!
I’m obsessed! You all have some terrific terrain.
Great video. Loved the mental perspective and the variety of people you spoke to. Way to look after the endo guy.
Respect Rob!
Those trails looks magical!
Rad!👏👏
Great filmaking great adeating!!
That was dope ! You're really pushing this summer !
Every time I come back to this channel, I’m amazed by just how nice a guy you are.
You gotta sub just for that, but it also helps the content is great too
Love the approach to the ride w/o timing!
Great video. We are going to need to hear more about that fitness ring.
"Just wished I had access to a shower." You mean, you wish you filled your water tank? Lol! Another great video!!
I was full...LOL I was parked in a small town and didn't want to take a shower in the middle of "everything"
I probably should have
Platinum Baby!!!
My man! You are the master at eyewear fashion! 🥸😎🤓
Dude I need a review/thoughts video on those Rudy sunglasses!
Awesome!!!! That is some serious elevation per mile.
Fantastic video. I’m inspired to do some events the coming season. (Southern Hemisphere) Nice balance of ride/race. 😂
Awesome video as always looked amazing
Thanks so much!
Creek cooled sleeves!
Great video Dustin!
Nice music!!
Glad you like it!

You have something different I really like watching vids .I go long sleeve cheep sun block and keeps the midges at bay keep riding 🎉
The scenery here looked top notch
Great vid, great edit as always

😂🤣 this RULES!! 🧮
Multiply distance by 20.
Remove the k.
For your example of 32km...
32*20 ~ 640m elevation for golden ratio.
Just can't imagine being out in the woods in a crowd.

My last gravel ride I ended up with separated AC shoulder joint. If only D Klein was there to lend a hand.
You should have RACED the whole thing, Dustin. You can go for a RIDE any day, any time. But a RACE is a special event!
Sleeves! Hate sun block on my hairy arms!
That’s was beautiful man ✊🏼
Hook a hose to that tube of water on your roof and ya got a shower
Having had two pairs of prescription Oakley's break for no reason, where did you source those Rudy Projects?
What goggles are you using? I've been struggling to find something good for the over-glasses situation.
What brand are those sunglasses? Looks like they are prescription and have transition lenses, would love a pair!
Same😊
Linked in the video description
Thank you!
8:08 that dude just broke up with confidence 😅
Do you run a hub speed sensor for your Garmin? I used to get random pauses as well when my Garmin was using strictly gps to track but now it used a speed sensor for speed so it can see my speed accurately at all times and only pauses when I am actually stopped
Can you share what prescription glasses you are wearing?
It's in the description
Looks like it was 2-3 riding hours per day.
What options were there to spend the rest of the day?
Rick is one of the OG players.
Who's version of All "Tonight I’ll Be Staying Here With You" is that at 10:40, Dustin?
Ben E. King!
Long always
My Garmin shows a heavier exercise load when I pair a heart rate monitor. It's not very accurate using only GPS and cadence sensor.
18:00 Ron’s Aussie cousin

whats sun block for?
I compete.. but not with some losers.. staying under roof😂😂..
That only makes us feel to do their thing😂😂
What action pack do you wear I can’t access the website from my country
Drat!
It’s uswe outlander.
Hopefully this link works: amzn.to/3YHer0N
Will you ever ride the Oregon Timber Trail from start to finish?

I keep telling myself, “Self, you need a van like that.”
I think you do too
Pro tip- And this took me a while to work out, don't ride with rings as they cause blisters
Long sleeve no sun block

Is this strictly a mountain bike ride? Could it even be done on a gravel bike?
Looks like a great event. But the routes link returns "you do not have permission" for me
The sunscreen conundrum is why I wish more companies would make 3/4 length cycling jerseys...
um, short sleeve, no sun block...lol. am i doing it wrong?
How you like those shades ? Don't pass no one off !
THey be Rockin for some time now
from the people that brought you creek cooled caps….
This episode sponsored by Creek Cooled Sleeves (cap)
Dustin, whats up with the thing on your nose?
they are these, they looks stupid but work amazing: 👃 Breath strips: amzn.to/3X6Npz1
Was that Newcleus starting at 13:33 ?
lol that’s why I don’t race mtb, I like to do my own thing 🤷🏻♂️
You didnt jump in a creek or something?
Short sleeve and no sunblock. I used it back in the day, but rarely anymore. Sunblock has a lot of garbage in it that is not healthy for you. I’d rather soak up the sun’s goodness. If I’m going to be out for an extended period of time I will go long sleeve.

Mountain bikers 🤦🏻♂️ LOL.
