Siobhan really missed the opportunity to conjure any character from Cats the musical to just terrify the shit out of the rat king
Imagining Rum Tum Tugger just. Being there. And singing about something completely unrelated in the background for the whole battle is just incredible.
@@speckofdignity2487 precisely
I was thinking the same thing
I mean, depending on whether it’s the stage or film production, there is a chance that it could even scare the intrepid hero’s too honestly. But who knows what could happen 🤔
But it's the movie version
Ive noticed trends amongst the players, emily always wants to drink and smoke, lou always has swag, zack is always the nice guy, siobhan is always wealthy, ally always likes girls, and brian is always tiny lol
It’s all their greatest wishes
i read "brian" and was like WHO????
Siobhan's always royalty of some kind

kugrash repeatedly insisting that the rat king sucks is hilarious
Kugrash is what I aspire to be as a druid
@@jacobpacheco3165 just a dirty, beautiful rat man. what a life.
Very strong Rick (from Rick and Morty) energy.
@@ParkourEh interesting because the woman next to him is a staff writer for Rick and Morty!
Kugrash is so rad dude. He truly does get to decide who sucks and who doesn't.
Hey y'all! Fun Fact Em is thusly named for her sculptor Emma Stebbins, the first first woman to receive a public art commission from New York City. Her work "Angel of the Waters" (1873) is also known as Bethesda Fountain. Great touch!
That’s awesome!
Cool
Hella cool
That’s pretty cool
Nothing gets me harder than burried accurate historical details.
"I'm going to take my meds." fucking shoots up T mid fight. That's fucking metal.
I know right?!
(could be a gel or a patch, but knowing Pete...)
He says he puts it in his mouth too, meaning he takes the pill form... I'm worried lol
Especially considering it's in America were there's no legally approved pill form of testosterone, for good reason
@@Queer_Nerd_For_Human_Justice T doesn't come in a pill, as any testosterone taken orally gets converted to estrogen in the body! I highly doubt that's what they were referring to when they said pill :')
Brennen roleplaying the last rat trying the get the cheese was the most hilarious impro I've seen in a long time
And the moment the cheese is created Kugrash is just "oh fuck that looks good"
Kugrashs viking funeral joke got me pretty good there
It was also so sad
Brennan*
“Cheese for the throne…” 😭😂
The way that Kingston feels more like a powerful spirit of the city than a cleric of some god is so brilliantly conveyed by Lou and Brennan. That Nat 20 description is so just... you *get* why Kingston is so together, so confident, so secure. His city is *there* for him, and he never has to be alone.
you worded this perfectly
I know its amazing
Just like that red hot chilli peppers song
Every time Kingston does anything I'm hit with a wave of like "yeah everything is gonna be okay", Lou really portrays that calming, secure presence well
Man the amount of effort Rick Perry and the crew put into the sets amaze me each time
yeah, they're really stunning
It really brings the entire season to life! One thing I miss about the now covid world
I was waiting for this kind of high production format short campaign series and I am so happy dimension20 can deliver that. Been a fan since fantasy high.
does Rick or any of them have instagram? I can't find them
Imagine having to deal with pete the plug. Worst char of the worst playet
To this day I’m sad about the alligator with Broadway dreams.
and the final cheese rat
I'm manifesting that he eventually lands the lead role in a Broadway musical and becomes the most successful alligator-singer-performer this world has ever seen. And that the rats who died during the battle are just snackin' on some delicious cheese in rat heaven
I am the alligator. I made it on Broadway. Don't worry, I'm fucking Killin it
He gets better I swear.
I really love the way Brennan DMs. He's really animated and his voices and sound effects are amazing. On top of that, he always says things like "Hell yeah." or "Rad" when the players do things and it makes everything the players do feel more epic. You really get the sense that he really loves and is super passionate about D&D.
I’ve watched and played a fair amount of dnd, aspiring to be a great dm myself, and he is far and away the best dm I’m ever seen. He’s like 95% why I want to dm. Inspiring.
His mastery of voices is epic, his directing of the story is freaking unbelievable, and he always makes anything the characters do feel awesome. cannot freaking understand how he does it all and makes it look easy
matt mercer is a great dm and if you want a serious game matt is the best but brennans games just have such a chaotic energy to them i really wish i could play a game with them
I wish I could DM like Brennan but I'm so bad at voices
No the thing I really admire is that he really gets caught up in rules he knows how to run In and let hiplayers have the rule of cool
That alligator saying " me king too?" Almost for real made me cry.
Yes, sweet beefy boy. You king too.
I whispered those exact words to manifest it into the universe. Our beefy alligator king deserves it all
King K. Rool
Everyone: "Man, we haven't killed a thing yet in this fight!"
Also everyone: *Continue to only do support actions*
This party is almost an "oops all healers", but that turns out to be a pretty solid strategy.
To be fair, the alligators aren't really the biggest threat in the battle.
Everyone: "Man, we almost died last battle getting hit by opportunity attacks!"
Also everyone: "We have to run away from the crocs without disengaging!"
Also, with how many times their characters died or almost died in Fantasy High I can totally understand why they’d want so many healers
Misty is not great at insults but that stings in such a special way. Like she doesn’t even care enough about you to think of something clever
You aren't even worth the time to spend properly insulting you
I love that Brennan always calls Murphy’s characters “baby” lol. seriously my favorite part of this is them looking at each other and Brennan going “that’s you baby”. adorable.
In fantasy high he did that with gorgug a lot too
Murph got that baby face
He’s baby 🤷♂️
Baby
Just something about the Vox Populi stuff plucks my heartstrings. Just knowing that the city believes in him and have his back makes me tear up.
I loved seeing both the Vox Populi (Kingston) and the Vox Phantasma (Pete) roll nat 20s consecutively
It's some Spiderman type energy but like. Chill and wise it is so [chefs kiss]
Well, Vox Populi means Voice of the People in Latin. He is the voice of the city to see that the people of New York are well and protected.
You would not believe just how happy I was to find out that none of the gators die like, the though of them killing these dopey sad gators with fucking Broadway dreams made my heart hurt.
In my headcanon, the alligators later make their way out of the sewer and star in an upcoming Broadway show about four sewer gators with big dreams and it becomes the next smash hit musical and they all become huge stars

I swear you deserve a reward for doing all these for all the dnd series
I LOVE YOU FLANDO

Thanks flando
I love how half of Kingston’s powers are just being a ray of sunshine and befriend everyone and everything.
the other half is "AYO SANTA GET THE FUCK UP"
Yeah agree with ovencake. Other half is “YOURE A GROWN ASS MAN”
For that entire fight, minor illusion is the only spell to get any kills
Well scorching ray definitely and Misty’s psychic damage probably killed some of the rats making up the rat king
Petes magic is fucking scary dude. I love it
“Yeah, coulda been infernal but… maybe something else…”
Ricky, knowing that an undead creature was present in the abduction: **says nothing**
Pigeons have a life expectancy of 3 to 4 years. ;_;

Love goes beyond all boundaries
Captive pigeons can live over a decade. I assume pixies have magic to make sure he gets to live as long as he can.
I love the look in Brennens eyes when he hears such a creative use of a magic like using shocking grasp to conduct through the metal statue.

I like how Pete making sure the drugs were saved is the heroic ending to this session lol
I'm living for how Kingston and Pete's magics contrast each other. One gains strength via the citizens of NYC hyping him up in one of the most badass moments I've ever seen. The other has the power to cast some heavy damage because he can channel the nightmares and remembered fears of the city.
The narrative parallels are so damn cool!!!!
Pete has access to dreams not just nightmares.
@@leviqueen1504well, yes, but in this specific moment that power was a channelling of nightmares specifically 26:59
"Yeah, this is New York City! We don't have Kings here!"
This was a golden opportunity for, "No, but you do have Queens!".
Using bardic inspiration to save Pete's drugs like it was the real important role was amazing. Then hero music when it was successful. I love it.
As a theatre student, “acting is work!” was definitely a laugh for me
Anyone who says it isn't clearly has never seen a bad porno. Acting might not be labor but it is work

That moment between pete and the angel actually almost made me cry
They might not have any kings, but they certainly do have Queens
Heh, took me a second
There's NYC Queens, and then there's Siobhan Thompson.

Brennan's wild use of Pete's magic feels like the chaotic energy he had anytime J'er'im'ih made a move in Escape to the Bloodkeep and I love it
I am consistently floored with the sets and battlemaps. The water level rising with the plastic was genius
Pete is the fucking main character oh my god
That’s how it’s felt, I was thinking this while watching. Pete absolutely feels like the main character in this setting, even Sophie who’s also in a “fish out of water” situation doesn’t feel like she’s as much of the main focus.
He's a main character how aang was a main character: a lot of focus, but surrounded by characters just as amazing
He very much feels like the opposite of Richard Mayhew from Neverwhere.
He feels like Quentin Coldwater

As someone who has not watched the whole series, or this whole video as of writing this, I sincerely friggin' hope we see this alligator more, because I just love this shit.
Brennen baffles me in a way that most people don’t. He speaks as a man that lived many lifetimes of experience in pain, joy and fulfillment. His characters are full bodied and suck you in. This can’t be just pure “acting” he must have journeyed enough to empathize with the very roles he plays. Thank you for your energy and also to the players.
It's acting my dude
Empath's with acting ability is a powerful thing.
@@shanem8145being an “empath” isn’t a real thing but sure
Just realised Brennan winked at Emily at 14:14 so she would disengage. Great Dm's are always on their players side.
And I’m realizing if she hadn’t, and one of the alligators got a hit on her, she would’ve been restrained and couldn’t jump up the platforms like she was planning… he really was helping her out big time
Nothing gives me more joy then the fancy way the rat piles talk. Nothing
There are actual tears forming in my eyes from "You're not the only pile of rats fuckface" 10,000/10 should have received inspiration
seeing those platforms taught me that i have PTSD from season 1 (post-table stress disorder)
Hey at least they’re doing WAY better
POST TAVLE STRESS DISORFER IM DYING THAT NEEDS TO BE TRADEMARKED ISTG
Goddamn I love Sophia she's such a great underrated character
Brennan is exactly the kind of Dungeon Master that I would want. Great storyteller that pulls you into the world, brilliant character actor for NPC interactions, unpredictable moment maker that gives opportunity's to create spectacles, and actually takes character class as more than just a skillset and tries to make it unique and special to the world it's in.
My problem is I would be that crappy player... and just stare into his story while he works... someone will have to nudge me and I will be staring blankly at the scene, ripped out of the moment of being absorbed... :P But I'd love it.
1:06:21 that fire sphere was definitely a disco ball for that whole segment
At 29:53 or so, Emily just has the most intense thinking face I have ever seen. She's just laser focused on some thought, and I'm dying to know what was going through her head for that one minute.
"So Santa is real. And heaven, and Hell. And Santa decides who goes to hell...
So the progression is like, step one, get a lump of coal in your stocking, step two, burn in hell for all eternity...."
Every day....

I’m convinced, I’m gonna join a dungeons and dragons group.

I gotta know, have you found a group? Is it good?
I really want to know who creates the props bc holy shit they are talented and hard workers they produce beautiful pieces that is just perfect imagery tor the story telling and the little details judt make this whole thing
Rick Perry!!!
I think they use a website called Heroforge
Rick Perry and his team are actual gods
very late but rick perry and his crew make the pieces and battle sets for every encounter!
Imagine there was no extra energy in the cheese and the despair on the sole survivor learning that his comrades and friends and arms had died for nothing.
36:42 i always find it super sweet when brennan double checks the rules with murph when other players get especially creative with their moves
I like the idea, that instead of summoning an illusion with phantasmal force, Misty somehow brings an actual actor into the place she's at
I am astonished by the quality of these sets. The water pieces are such a good idea!
I love that Fabian Brown almost called Jeffrey Kristen.

Dam brennon is amazing that rat monolog gave me chills
Aww, the beefy boys. So hungry and full of aspiring dreams.
I love them so much
They are my sons
The intro song and animation is my favorite part of the entire thing.
Its got hollow knight vibes, and thats always a good thing.
Why was the story of an NPC rat soldier trying to reach a wheel of cheese so heartbreaking!?
I wish we had access to the little songs that play in the background. I'd love to use Pete's little piano song in my D&D campaign.
If you need a good library of background music I suggest getting the cheapest subscription to splice. You get 100 downloads per month so you can cancel your subscription after a month. Actually you might get everything you need just with the free trial. They have a great tagging system so you can search for whatever sounds you need. Great sfx too.
59:04 Creative uses of spells get tossed around a lot but this one is so elegant. I love it when players make their dm's make *this* face (59:21) like woah, I'm blown away
changed my life tbh i love ally so much
A rat king is actually the name of a naturally occurring phenomenon where a collection of rats have their tails intertwined and bound together in some way
This can be a result of an entangling material like hair, a sticky substance such as sap or gum, or the tails being tied together
The largest rat king on record was found in May 1828, in a chimney in the German town of Buchheim, Altenburg
It consisted of 32 individual rats
The discovery was made when a miller named Steinbrück had the walls of his chimney torn down, whereupon he found a mummified rat king under the rubble
...ew
The way Brennan rapidly blinks when he says "You want me to FUCK someone up??" at 28:54 freaks me the hell out lmao
pigeons live for about 6 years and reach sexual maturity at around 7 months, so Ronald Pigeon's marriage could last like 5 years if there isn't a divorce. maybe a little longer if his lifespan is above average.
Does counting the average count all the extra dumb pigeons that die to unnatural causes really early?
I love how Em is basically a sweet, sassy New York woman.

I am really embarrased to admit that it took the Exandria: Calamity for me to discover Dimension 20. This is an absolutely fantasic show. I expected Brenna to rock, but the entire cast improvises so well. This is one of the most engaging rpg shows I have ever seen!
