- Every week, 2-year-old Maxwell Freed is on a horse at Colorado State University’s Temple Grandin Equine Center in north Denver, receiving equine-assisted occupational therapy (hippotherapy) from licensed and trained professionals. Maxwell suffers from a rare genetic disease, and the horses help strengthen his core, feed him motor cues and provide emotional benefits.
