Always have loved, or at least appreciated Knost's work. From running a conceptual art center (Costa Mesa Conceptual Art Center) with awesome content and welcoming community, to his own style of stretched out music. It's annoying being a surfer and true experimental artist if you don't fit into the goofball surfer art world of wave photography and wave paintings and always being judged by the surf world for not fitting in enough, and always being judged by the art world for being a surfer. Glad things keep working out for him and his recognition as an artist. especially excited about his new band Glitterburst wth Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth and more recently Body/Head.
I don't really know why Gordon would bother hanging out with another guitarist wanting to stick things under the strings of a Jaguar and make esoteric washed out noises. Been there done that kinda thing! If Mr. Knost can make a living doing his art and surfing then good luck to him though! For mine, the whole vibe was a bit dark and felt a little contrived, but then somewhere around 16:40 he fades the bowl on that right-hander and manages not to get lipped in the scone and you have to say: well surfed.
Excellent filming and a really intense and interesting soundtrack.. Sounds like the Velvet Underground demo outtakes.. or system7 Are they on Spotify or somewhere else on the web or in vinyl? Please let me know . Mauro❤️🛹
Watched this with my wife. She didn't know who Alex was. Half way through the film she asked "Is he fucking Hoodini?" Then I watched her head explode another dozen times.
You would think his flailing arms & spazzy head movements would make his surfing really radical but that's kinda actually almost all he's got. Cheater 5 is pretty sick tho

Nice film Alex. The bottom turn on the nose blew me away. This could possibly be the medium for you that leads to bigger opportunities.
