When I see a headline bashing Dave Rubin, I can’t not click.
Same! It’s a compulsion.
What I remember about Dave Rubin, was him excusing and defending Israeli actions in the 2014 slaughter in Gaza. Live on air, while civilians are being slaughtered, Dave was incredulous about any criticism of those performing the slaughter.
I remember the show Rubin went full Bibist.
I still think his entire political heel-turn was because of that... everything else is just window-dressing.
Cenk's story on how Dave Rubin squander their friendship for money is the biggest tell on Rubin's character than any other criticism I've heard of Rubin.
Imagine thinking a friendship with Cenk is a good thing..lol

What I dislike most about Rubin is his hypocrisy. Dave only cares about himself and he's been a strong advocate for the marginalized identities HE inhabits, but he seems to think everyone else should only view themselves through the frame work of simply being an American no matter what level of marginalization they experience. He's a hypocrite. The same came be said of Bari Weiss and Bethany Mandel who all can't shut up about their cultural identities but love to wag the finger at other people for doing the same! In fact, their entire careers are built around their identities. Dave Rubin is all for identity politics when it comes to Judaism and he leads with his identity when it comes to his foreign policy positioning on Israel. He's all for identity politics as it relates to matters of his gay identity in terms of gay marriage and he leads with his identity when advocating for that position. But everyone else needs to shut up about their "special interests" related to their specific identities. These people have zero self awareness.
Fantastic comment! For some reason, I had not made the connection between Dave Rub8n and Bari Weiss, but you’re exactly right. In the case of Bari Weiss, the senior staff of the New York Times must have read her rambling three-page open letter which screams of being the creation of someone who needs a stern editor and jumped for joy she had quit.

Rubin always stuck me as an opportunist from the start. Didnt exactly know why, but I always got an insincere vibe from the guy.

I remember watching Dave Rubin on TYT regularly. He was a core member of the show in some ways.
Then suddenly he disappears and starts hanging out with the "intellectual dark web", and other right wing grifters.
To witness his journey to where he is now is really weird for sure. He got paid to be a right winger, and now he is a right winger, happy as can be about it, too.
I stayed subbed to him because I wanted to see how he would do, but I distinctly remember shivering when he said he'd "hold Trump's feet to the fire". The kind of weird shiver you get when you sense somebody's a sociopath. I just watched his slow descent into pure shillery happen in such predictable ways. I finally unsubbed because it started to actually physically disgust me.

I'm a liberal and I am really trying to understand if this is a product of my bias, but I find conservative commentators like Ben Shapiro, David Rubin etc. to be dull. Sometimes they can be unintentionally entertaining like Glenn Beck or Jessie Peters (sp?) but the freak-show appeal only goes so far. I disagree with TYT hosts and editorial decisions sometimes, often strongly, but I have been watching the show for years. I find the hosts engaging and interesting and I feel that sometimes I learn something or get a new perspective. I get none of that from conservative outlets. I'm legit curious to hear from someone who might feel the exact opposite. On an unrelated note; I'd like to see more Jayar, Ben and Steve Oh on the show. Steve especially seems to be MIA. Did he leave the show?

Talking about Dave Ruben has got to be a source or shame and discomfort for TYT. The Ben example is a good one. They hung out with and promoted this clown and it's gotta feel gross. We all make mistakes but this one is pretty sad. Ana seems to be the one who is least shamed to admit that what Ruben has done is so hurtful and despicable.
Dave isn't the only guy they should be ashamed of either. Jimmy Dore is now going down the same path. So far, I've only seen Sam Seder actually criticizing him for his stupid takes. I won't be surprised if Dore starts calling himself a conservative within the next 4 years.

I stopped watching him after his incredibly brainlet takes during the 2016 election). Whereas Dave did the whole “classical liberal” thing and flat out lied about TYT. But I have found it interesting that they never talk about Jimmy. At least not I’ve seen. And I really would like to know their thoughts on the shit he’s saying and doing now.
