Laura Branigan - "Good Day New York" Interview w/ Gordon Elliott [cc] - April 1990

In March 1990, Laura's self-titled album was released. Before she began touring in support of "Laura Branigan" that June, Laura visited New York City's WNYW Fox 5 studios in the early morning of April 5 for a delightful interview with Gordon Elliott to promote her new album.
After a great introduction, Gordon and Laura talked about how "Gloria" "hurtled" her to stardom, followed by how someone described her as being born with a "sob" in her voice, which Laura agreed to as being accurate. Next they talked about her family's affinity for singing - her mother, father, and grandmother. Then, Laura very cutely acknowledged that her mom was watching that morning, which was followed by Laura's and Gordon's joking sides coming forth, as they talked about having children together. Be sure to pay attention to the hilarious names Laura came up with for the "kids!" Gordon followed by asking Laura what her favorite songs were as a kid. Next, a clip from the music video for the lead single from the "Laura Branigan" album, "Moonlight On Water," was played (omitted here per WMG artist licensing agreement). Following that, Gordon questioned Laura about some lyrics on the album, in particular, "It's better than sex on the beach". Then, Gordon asked Laura what "urban sensuality" is, referring to the fact that Laura had described her latest album as possessing that. Next, Gordon posed the question to Laura about if her dreams were fulfilled, what would they be? Laura went on to answer that she would love to raise horses. Gordon then asked Laura about being married and if she had any kids, and then they both went back to joking about having kids together. Finally, Gordon put the word out to buy Laura's album and shows the LP sleeve with lyrics and Laura's photo, and they joke one more time about their kids together...too funny! ENJOY!!
