I think "Good Omens" is quite good because Sheen and Tennant are great, each on their own, but together they rock. You can only imagine what that duo could have achieved with an actual good story, and that's all I need to say about Gaiman hahahaha. BTW, this is perhaps the only channel I have found that actually focus on the books, or balances both sides of this endeavour (reading/crafting), which I think is great. Perhaps having the books around when possible or displaying the covers could be nice.
Thank you very much! I appreciate you enjoying the book-heavy direction I’ve chosen. I was worried that people in the journal community might not care, but it seems quite the opposite 😊 and haha, that’s good to know about “Good Omens”
Ugh miss Beth!!! Your videos are gorgeous. I’ve watched them all and this is my 2nd time watching this one. It’s very relaxing and I love your honest reviews of the books. I love all of your spreads and I took inspiration from some of your spreads to create some of my own in my journal. Thank you for sharing your art with us.
It’s 1am here in New Zealand and I’m binge watching your videos 10:40 I read thinner and I loved it so it’s fun hearing a different side. I think that new King is better. Could be cause I’m 25 but I’ve read 30 of his books and I prefer his newer works
Also I feel like a lot of Kings books in terms of language and stuff haven’t aged well. I am currently reading his works in order and it’s very obvious it hasn’t aged hahah
Omg 😅 thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed thinner! In terms of new vs old king, I feel like I’m pretty mixed. Some of my favourites and least favourites come from both time periods. I haven’t really loved any of his newest things, but I love 11/22/63 and the Institute. And you’re totally right. Some of the language he uses in older books is highly questionable
I've read two Neil caiman books - I don't remember the name of one of them, but the other was stardust! It was different enough from the movie (which I ADORE!) that things were still surprising and fun. Admittedly? I read it on a road trip in a single sitting on a long car ride. I dont recall much of what it was actually like apart from mild enjoyment
Haha I feel like that happens all the time. You read a book and then completely forget about it 😅 I haven’t read or seen Stardust but a few people now have mentioned it, so I might have to read that one for my next Gaiman book
You should try some of the more adult novels by Neil gaiman. I was teaching a English class who were reading Neverwhere and Ive never been more sucked into a story. Also stardust is good too if you would rather a romance instead of a mystery.
@@guessimbeth I honestly like Gaimans older books rather than his newer ones; Stardust (which got adapted to a better movie imo), American Gods (which got adapted to a worse tv series), and Neverwhere (which the book was adapted FROM a tvshow and the book is better). The last book I read from him was The Graveyard book and it was kinda meh for me and havent picked up any of this work afterwards.
Your spreads are lovely! I've also tried a few Neil Gaimen and I just don't get the hype. I was bored to tears reading each book. I've officially given up.
I truly enjoy your videos especially after a long day at work today…it’s so relaxing and gets me in the mood to journal! Also, the little booklet of decorative paper that you use, where is that from? I really like the sizing of it and the designs 🫶🏼
@@guessimbeth omg no way!!! I’m going to my DS tomorrow after work and see if mine have them! I love the smaller size bc I do my book journal in a TN standard size so those 4x4 papers are perfect! And you’re so welcome! 🥰🫶🏼 you give me lots of inspiration 🥰
I've read a few Neil Gaiman - Good Omens, American Gods, The Ocean at the End of the Lane - I've enjoyed them but do think he has a style of writing that people either love or don't....and I don't think they're quick or light reads so reading them in the right mindset and mood makes a difference.
I definitely agree about the pacing and the mood. I found that while reading Ocean, I really had to be in the space of accepting what that book was giving
I think you'll be disappointed by Good Omens as well. I agree with you about Gaiman's books. Although, who knows. Maybe the Terry Pratchett influence is enough to change it. What is the adhesive applicator thing you're using?
Good to know. Thanks! And it’s glue tape. It looks like white out but it dispenses double sided tape. Here’s the Amazon link that I use: a.co/d/8SkklZv
I understand what do you mean about coraline the book and the coraline the movie. and if you felt that the movie is superior, I too felt that but for the game when I was a kid playing it in my ps2! I remember playing coraline before the movie came out, I remember how i was dying to watch the movie due to that game! When I watched the movie I was little bit a disappointed but I was so grateful after reading the novel, the game pacing were better with its music, the movie music were (for me) were so light? I don't know how to explain it but My rating will be: game > Movie > novel.
I absolutely love your pages! They are so gorgeous and I look forward to these videos every month. I totally understand the Neil Gaiman struggle. A lot of his works have been adapted beautifully but sometimes the works are a bit of a struggle to get through. I’m going to try GoodOmens next just because it’s a dual work with Terry Pratchet so hopefully that helps. For the last book, honestly that sounds horrendous. When you said that she started dating the guy she hates because she’s trying to get with some other guy I was immediately confused. 🤔 how would dating some other guy help you get with guy A? Usually the fake dating trope works when there’s some outside issue that requires “dating” someone. “Oh I need a date to this wedding!” “Oh I’ll be deported unless I’m married” “I accidentally told XYZ person I had a partner” stuff like that. It’s still a bit silly but those situations at least make sense. I did laugh at you saying it seems like it was written for 10 years olds but honestly I would say that tons of middle grade books are better written with plots that make way more sense 😂. Lovely work! Can’t wait to see next months! Hope you have a better reading month in May!
Thank you so much 😊😊 and okay I’m glad I’m not the only one who struggles with his works. I’m happy so many other people like them, but they just don’t seem to work for me. And yes, I was so confused the entire time with Better Than the Movies. The way youve explained the fake dating trope perfectly captures what I expect fake dating to be.
I agree so whole heartedly about Better than the movies. God it was terrible to the point that I just wished that everyone turned their back on the fl. She looked down on other girls while being the biggest weirdo, terrible daughter, best friend and to top it all her delusions made me want to throw the damn book away I loved Vicious, I haven't picked up Vengeful yet because of the same reasons as you have mentioned but now I'm excited to give it a try
I’m so happy it wasn’t just me 😅 it has such a high rating. And I think if you liked Vicious, you’ll enjoy Vengeful. That rivalry between Victor and Eli is still very much present
I really love both your spreads and your honest reviews. Would you consider a video on how you do your title lettering style is so beautiful.
Thank you so much! I hadn’t considered doing that but I’d be more than willing to make a video about it!
I love your videos. I appreciate you not speeding up. It’s very calming and I love your titles.
Thank you very much 😊

i would adore if you made a hand lettering video! i love your style & would love tips on how to improve! ❤
Of course, thank you. I will definitely consider that!
Love this so much! Please don't stop making these kinds of videos.
Thank you so much!! I’m r really enjoying making them so I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon 😅
Vicious sounds awesome, Adding it to my TBR :D
Vicious is so good!! Hope you enjoy it!

I also can not get into books that are written by him, alone.
I've never read any of his books. I was going to this year. However, if the movie is better than the book, I'm going to pass.

I’ve only enjoyed The Graveyard Book and Instructions by Neil Gaimen. You aren’t alone.
😅 thanks! I’ve never heard of instructions so I might have to check that one out too
im currently reading the sandman comics by neil gaiman cause i loved the show i had to read it im loving it so far so maybe you can try that one next.
Ooh that’s not a bad idea. I tried the show and didn’t love it, but not because of the story. I might have to check them out
Good Omens for me is great but I do feel that is because of Terry Pratchett not Gaiman
Ah, good to know. I’ve never read anything by Terry Pratchett, so maybe his influence would make it feel different
I have had the same experience with Neil Gaiman books. They’re not for me. Beautiful spreads!
