Spotify led me to spend 4 hours of my life grooving out to Bow Thayer! I love music that moves me, and this is solid gold!
Same story...You know your having a few beers the music plays , you get caught up in whatever then your playlist ends and they continue with music from similar artist, and then you hear this and go WTF.
I blasted this song 3 times in a row heading west on the NY Thruway last fall. It was drizzling, the road was wet, and I dialed my windshield wipers to go in time with the song. F*ckin' perfect!
Best Drummer ever
Tween now and then
Seems like a long, long time
I'd duck beneath the radar and
I'd sneak across the line
Stop up in St Alban's
And up in Montreal
I'd make pretend I didn't know
What was being bought and sold
I met a lot of strange folk
In this dirty game
Woman so evil
I won't even say her name
She had me from
The first time around
She held me so sweetly as
She pinned me down
And it felt so real
It felt so right
All we ever did was eat and
Drink and f**k and fight
The deal got bent
She turned me in
I ducked beneath the radar
I was on the road again
Strong of muscle
Strong of will
Weak of the heart at
The top of the hill
From up there one can rule
For miles around
But humble is the man
Who walks back down
And the road is rough
And it's hard to see
Gotta slow down the pace
Have some faith in destiny
And I hear those sirens
They're calling me
Their silver tongues they tempt me
With unbridled clarity
I dip my cup in holy water
Tip my crown of thorns
And I stumbled down off the hill
With the cross that I was hung
Now and then
I drift back in time
I think about the love and lust
That I left behind
And it's good by the rose
Good by gun
Hello to that virgin land
Where I belong
And I hear those voices
Calling me
Amongst the wingless angels
In perfect harmony
Unreal!!
Roll the windows down, turn this jam to 10 and cruise down the road...
My reaction exactly. I hear bits of Steve Earle here... and Jerry Garcia, Dylan's Nashville Skyline and The Band in others. Awesome lyrics to go with the talent. Can't ask for much more than that.
agreed
Holy Cow, this is an amazing recording.
This tune moves just like the story it tells.....smooth against the rough
Sounds like me & my ex husband! Lol Heard this song at his apt ! 😂😃
Awesome! See you at Studio 9 on August 31!
I love you Jennifer Ford ....
why have I never heard of this guy before?powerful music
stratmagic texting at the wheel music business is with Bow. Playing Both nights of No Town Music Festival this July in Vt
Bow Thayer is one of America's premier songwriters. I hadn't heard of him either until 2005 when a friend gave me a compilation of about 20 of his songs for my birthday. I completely flipped. Next time I saw my friend, I was raving about Bow's work, and asking "who IS this guy?". Only then did she tell me that he lived only 10 miles from me. Holy shit!
Had the pleasure of seeing/meeting Bow in northern Ca. last year. Awesome musician very cool guy!
Thank you Spotify. But I'm confused. Why isn't this guy everywhere? I can't stop grooving on his stuff. Dancing too!. Took the time today to playlist and listen for 5 hours. Just gets better.
Bow is the best for sure. I live ten miles away.
It’s a clear example of the music business texting at the wheel in regards to Bow. He has about 30 albums and I’ve never seen a bad review. His earlier band 7 League Boots influenced Rage Against The Machine and here he is with Levon ! That is range…
I've I've listened to this song three times a day since I found out about it a year ago and turned about 20 or 30 people on to this song and to on to bow.. you'd feel pretty good if you wrote that song at the end of the day! Thanks Dylan's got nothing on you
Dude I was born to hear this music this guy is awesome
The road is rough its hard to see
Gotta slow down the pace
Have some faith in destiny 🙏
last comment was a year ago?! this is my jam! I wanna play this at my newberry springs barn yard bar, it has all the elements of story telling, pain, desert and regret that inspires the old drunks who are forgotten and have story to tell
Those silver tongues they tempt me with unbridled clarity
Hello from England, thanks to Stu Vincent, who has just put me on to your music. Nice.

Come to Tweed River music Fest in Vt this weekend and ask bow the cords. Levon laid down the drums in 1st or 2nd take tops on every song on Spend it All.
them silver tounges they temp me with unbridled clarity
He has de tuned down a fret which makes it difficult to play along with but the Tweed valley live version is ok. So D G and C and possible 7th in there somewhere too.

I think I do, devil sent his daughter and she almost got me
Love this, anyone know the chords??
Drop D - just drop the low E string to a D - then it's D G and C in there... work it out and enjoy! Fun to play
Has a better song ever been written? Nah, maybe Snakebite.
