It just dawned on me, Rick. You remind me of my Daddy! That has nothing to do with age, because you and I are within a couple of years of each other, I think. Daddy could build anything, including the house I grew up in. He passed away way too young. He was only 56, I was 10. He was a good man, as are you! Nice build, btw! I gave up a year's worth of thinking and perusing Element builds, and settled on the Coleman Ridgeline 3 cot! In 2 weeks, I'll be in Kentucky, the "LBL" as we call it, and I cannot wait! Safe travels my friends! ❤👣
Truck campers are nice to have, too. We went to a RV show and went in the vans, rvs and truck campers. The one that appealed to us the most was a truck camper.
I'm thinking about building a queen size Murphy bed into my cargo trailer conversion so I can have much more space to move around in the trailer during the day. I need to make as much movement room as possible so I can drive my electric wheelchair in and be able to turn it around so it's ready to go right back out with my wheelchair.
Rick, got a question for ya / I gotta get a hitch put on my PU before I can begin pulling a trailer, is the hitch you have on your SUV a class A? Was thinking that I wouldn't need anything too heavy-duty if I'm pulling a small trailer such as yours. What's your take on that? Thanks!
I love seeing her build her own. As I watch I drift back to my 65 ford van and how I could not wait to hit the road and how great it is to be on the move
I always enjoy how well thought out your projects and videos are. Although, it does seem the couch part is a little high for the little people. Ha! Need a fold-down foot bar.
Well, put it this way. After watching you for 2-3 yrs I would trust your decisions and calculations more than 99.5% of the people I know. And, in case anyone asks, I know a lot of people.
I missed this video when you posted it. We're struggling trying to figure-out seating. My wife and I built pipe berths from your idea. Yes, they are comfortable. Our trailer is 7' wide and the 78" pipe berth accommodates my 73" height; so well that I'm known to take naps in the trailer in the driveway. My wife is only 62 ("and a half!")" tall. The top berth is a bit of a climb for her. Now, I'm considering the fold-out bed or a deep sofa for my wife and any guest grandkids. I'll keep the pipe berth for myself.
How about piano hinge the plywood pieces. That way you could have an angled back rest, plus it would be easier to fold than it is to pick up the wood and put it on top of the other piece. You could have extend the front skirt up about 1/2 inch then you wouldn't have needed to screw it down. This would allow you to lift just the plywood to access the storage without having to pull it out.
I also thought about a piano hinge for that section of the plywood, but then wondered if it is worth the cost of the hinge and the trouble of getting it attached straight and secure. I guess it depends on your budget and preference.
Linda had me laughing! What do you have there? My latest ride! [ electric knife ] LMAO, okay, I went there, not sure she went there. But I sure did! : ) All before my first cup of coffee.
You are so handy. Gonna ask again are you ever gonna show how you made the gas can warmer for your butane stove??? Have fun traveling and stay safe. Hope the wife is doing better too.
I remember when the girls painted their trailer. That’s a great design Rick. Hope Linda is recovering nicely so you can get back on the road, minus the ebike 😅. I’m in Mesa at a friends place going rock hounding tomorrow. It’s been a bit chilly here but a real heatwave compared to where you’re at.
I like the added touches you do that give added strength such as the frame against the wall that carries the load to the floor . I like the open front with the wider legs out of 3/4 plywood. Thanks for another good build. How is Linda doing?
@4:29 "Whatcha got there Linda?" "A bad husband neuteriser Rick. Helps to keep naughty husbands in line." 😂😂 Very nice job guys. Great to see Linda up and about again. 👏👏👏 👋👋👋
Sense the wheel was invented, its haves been improved, nice weel there I wanted a bed that folded against the wall, and made a couch, 800$ made in China, I will say it works, way too much money. thank you all stay safe
Rick, you were So Right when proclaiming that the interior of a cargo-build is Never finished, or Always up for a 'redo'. Something like that. I'm now working on my third rebuild of the bed and Thank God for all your ideas and concepts. I Cannot remember the name of those Special 'pulleys' that allow one person to lift 500-lbs. with ease?? Since Bruzetta Demands to sleep with me,🤓 I've had to redesign & rebuild the bed now three times. She is 145 lbs. and Can't get up on her own as the platform is over three feet off the floor. Any ideas??? I'm thinking rigging a harness to 'lift her hulk' up into the bed via the magic of one of those pulleys??? What a Massive Task, I'm Almost Stumped. 🤔 Onwards and Upwards, I have little choice. Hoping Linda's foot is almost ready for some Break-Dancing??? That would be one Great Video. 😂 (more info arriving in the mail soon) God Bless 🤗
Can she go up steps at all? I'm thinking building a set of steps that you use to get into your trailer but bring in at night so she can use them to get up on the bed.
@@gonagain Yes, Yes & Yes, however she has yet to get comfortable with the concept. Mastiffs are not the 'bouncy or jumpy' type breed, & she keeps Looking at the stairs as if it's an Alien. I started a rebuild with the steps being wider & less tall. I'm thinking small bits of steak to coax her now. She blew-out her right knee six weeks ago, and I built a ramp for the FJ but no dice, that too is an Alien. Funny Dog, but we need each other. Thanks for the Tip and the Encouragement. I'll send a pic of the revamp.🎯👊
If I ever build one, I’d like it to be similar to what you built before where the bed is hinged to the wall. I’d like them on both sides so when they come down it’s a full size bed. Put 1 down and you have a fairly big table
I like your design better not as many parts! I am looking forward to your diesel heater install to see how you do it. I'm still debating whether I want to make my heater a permanent install or portable. Like all CTC "design engineers" I've taken what I feel are the best of all designs I've seen on YT and will implement them into my build/install.I did purchase a Lavaner 5Kw heater because after some research I found it to be the best of the best of ALL the Chinese diesel heaters due to customer service support and better quality components.
you copied my design but mine folds into 2 pieces and folds against the wall, mine also has i foot under the bed for items and boxes for storage, love the idea of the diesel stove/heater. good job all and all.
Can you tell me about the mattress. Where did you get it? We are having trouble finding a mattress. We are looking for 4” of medium density foam with 2” of memory foam. That mattress looked like it had 3 types of foam. Thank you
Hello Rick & family 🙋 Hope Linda is healing well ❣️ I really like your pull out bed design and would like to know more about the mattress. You said it's 6inch foam-are they happy with it? I have been looking for just this kind-3 layers-etc. Any info on name/&place of purchase will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Iris 🙋
I couldn't find that exact mattress again, but I did find this one: www.amazon.com/Best-Price-Mattress-6-Inch-Memory/dp/B00HCZ0X9Y/ref=sr_1_4?crid=32DK70X9AI5O5&keywords=6%22%2Bmemory%2Bfoam%2Bmattress&qid=1645812874&s=home-garden&sprefix=6%2Bmemory%2Bfoam%2Bmattress%2Cgarden%2C189&sr=1-4&th=1
The only addition I would make to the sliding bed would be access doors on the ends, under the platform. I don't think the strength would be compromised by adding doors, since the majority of the weight bearing is on the wall frame and the center (long side) frame. Access doors would allow equipment to be loaded under the bed while you are standing outside the trailer.
Here's a link, through our Amazon associates page, to the mattress in the video: 6" Multi-Layer Memory Foam Mattress: amzn.to/3BQpGGY
all 🦃 start running…gotta luv Linda’s humor
Very good plan. I will copy you sir!

Thank you, Kristi.
See! All that "down time" during Linda's recovery is not really down time and that is a good thing. Thanks!
A hot toaster wire cuts foam wonderfully.
We also have a 6x10, but we're going to switch it up and go with truck camper so wife feels comfortable driving.
Truck campers are nice to have, too. We went to a RV show and went in the vans, rvs and truck campers. The one that appealed to us the most was a truck camper.
@@gonagain we're getting a Scout, very simplistic. And wife can share in driving duties.
Good morning ☕. I hope Linda is doing well! And healing
Linda is doing great and hopes to get that cast off next week. We're thinking on where we want to go next.
Cool idea. Hope Linda's foot is getting better.
I like it a lot better then the finger ones! WELL DONE!
Nice design idea. Hope you are all well and Linda is healing up well.
We are all good, Badger, thank you. Linda sees the dr next week and we're hoping the cast comes off and she can start using that ankle again.
@@gonagain Awesome.
You two get another thumbs up for that bed.
KUDOS for another great share, video and idea! Well DONE! All the BEST and thanks MUCH! Cheers! ! :)
Thanks, Marty!
I agree that the narrow slats look flimsy...love your design with the 2 x 4's. Thanks for sharing all of your designs!

I need to make as much movement room as possible so I can drive my electric wheelchair in and be able to turn it around so it's ready to go right back out with my wheelchair.
A murphy bed should work for your needs. That would give you more floorspace for your wheelchair.
Good video Gonagain, the trailer project for your daughter is coming along nicely, if only the never ending winter would leave, with an early spring.
Thank you, for showing how you and your daughter built the bed. I enjoy watching your how to videos.
Job well done.
Great looking bed!
Great simple sofa/bed, built to Victorian standards. Hope you are keeping well in our dangerous world. Regards from the U.K. AJ
Thank you, AJ, hope you are staying safe and healthy as well.
Very nice! Knife through butter on that mattress!
Really liked the build of this bed over the slat (fingers type) beds. You and your daughter did a really nice job.

She loves working on her trailer and truck. Now that both girls have their trailers set up, they're planning a trip for all of us.
@@gonagain Fantastic...enjoy
I did like that - clear instruction, much easier for a novice like me to try.
I'm happy that it helped!

I wouldn't go so far as to call it "well thought out"! Lol!

Well thought out and put together two stars for you guys
Nice work.. try rubbing ivory soap bar on wood runners to make them slide smooth.

maybe put some floor sliders or the thin teflon strips under the forward plywood to make it move a bit smoother on the floor.
Good build, encouragement to "Just Do It". How are Y'all now, getting better I hope.
Linda is doing great and is getting close to having the cast removed.
Good job
Putting 2 door hinges on the upper slide part would be easy to help with open and close
You keep coming up with good ideas for my cargo trailer (on your recommendation). Love your channel!
