I bought a grace m101 last year it cost me $1000.00 but its so clean and crisp no noise what so ever.The difference is there's more options than just a sens knob on most preamps.You hear better when monitoring i find than just your typical preamp .But turning up to 60db or higher and hearing no noise other than room abeyance is amazing but you would need a good damping of the acoustics.So ya i'd say its worth it.
