I don’t get out much 🤣 but I started a thing years ago now it’s a habit whenever I leave my house I say Please let my presence be a blessing to the people I come in contact with while I’m about my errands. Namaste.
I started saying a prayer when I dropped off mail. It grew from there to asking for blessing people I passed. I stopped for awhile & recently brought it back.

My parents were married on December 21, 1941. He was on a 24 hour pass from the Army. They drove from central Illinois for almost 3 hours until they found a justice of the peace to marry them. He was in a small town in east central Missouri. So the winter solstice has always been special for me.
As someone who really struggles with the cold dark winter days, I always look forward to winter solstice. I know if I can make it to solstice, I have made it through all of the darkest. We now have the growth of new light and longer daylight hours. 🌞🌟☀️
I second you, Deb. The lights help a bit, but I’ve dealt with SAD since a child, when they didn’t know much about it. I don’t miss a sunrise, that’s for sure. Let’s celebrate winter solstice all!
At 4:21 am this morning, Saturday 21. I went out on my back deck. In the dark. In the cold. And lit a new candle. I said a personal prayer I use that’s earth/spirit based. Then a small prayer of intention for a brighter future for our world as the days get brighter and the sun grows stronger. Then said a word about the feminine energy and how it too is growing stronger. I then blew out the candle and brought it inside. I’ll light it daily for a few minutes at night to bring the energy of the solstice charged candle flame into the darkness of my home. Bringing light and love to all. ✨💕
I'm a federal employee. Some people received phone calls for furlough in our groups. Others received emails. I have not. I was concerned about all of us in the flooded areas from Helene here in Asheville too. Also, otger things in the bull I hear great news the bill has passed. I'm so happy this will help the majority. I kept praying. I knew the light would shine over the dark. This group rocks. We wre raising our hugher vibrations than our fears. We ROCK. ❤❤❤

Here in the Midwest (as you well know Karen), the Winter Solstice has always been the marker of turning the page looking forward to Spring. "We made it! Now the days will keep getting longer and Spring is on its way." - kind of attitude. 🌞
Scientifically speaking, the Winter solstice will occur at 2:20am MST on December 21st, so tonight. It’s when the sun reaches its southernmost point in Earth’s sky. Summer solstice in the Southern Hemisphere, with 24-hours daylight in Antarctica. And us celebrating the beginning of the days becoming longer and re-birth of the Sun.

I am watching this on the 21st. I am just sharing that my eyes opened this morning at 4:41am and I got up and I lit several candles and said as I lit each one, "I honor the winter solstice with lighting this candle." I than made a cup of tea and enjoyed the candle light in the darkness. I have always said that Dec. 21st was a great day because each day got lighter and Spring was right around the corner. Happy Solstice everyone!
I will absolutely be setting INTENTIONS. I pour a glass of cold water and speak my Intentions over it. I place it outside in the moonlight. The next morning I retrieve the water and drink ALL OF IT all i the while repeating the Intentions I set the previous evening (I may have to repeat it several times if the glass is large.) I always close with Amen or other statements clearly indicating the close a prayer such as, so be it!
Its our job to take care of ourselves. We have to make that a priority. I used to teach kindergarten. I learned that its impossible to put 24 children ahead of myself and have anything left for myself. At that point Im just dead weight for others to carry.
I had never paid much attention to the Winter Solstice until 2014 when I got the "nudge" to celebrate the shortest day of the year. I marked this occasion by creating a special altar with a grapevine wreath, silver bowl in the center, green pillar candle, fraser fir boughs, a small wooden gold star and my homemade dried orange slice/cinnamon ornaments. And then I produced a simple ritual that would include a crystal meditation in the dark, candle lighting, affirmations, journaling, and bell ringing! This is still my tradition today. And everything I say and do is about bringing in more Light! 🕯
I have always been a SUN WORSHIPER! I have the wrinkles and freckles to prove it! Since april-may I have a completely new respect for our SUN!! May it shine down on all of us with promise and love!!

This is my favorite time of year. I like winter, the holidays, dark days, gloomy skies, cold temps. I wish it would last longer. More fall and winter and less summer is my proclivity.
As for solstice activities-After dark, in place of a bonfire, I plan to relax and light all my holiday candles and the fairy lights on my hibiscus and other indoor trees. I’ll revel in nature and light without going out into the freezing temps!🕯️
It’s 10:27pm here in MD on 12/20/24. This year has been a tough holiday season for me. I suffer from SAD but the holidays usually make it easier to get through, but not so far this year. Thank you for recognizing that some people have a hard time around the holidays 😊❤

I’m a pagan and I loved this. The wheel of the year is simple the cycle of the seasons and the 8 holy days in it. The solstice and May Day and Halloween are the best known holy days. The significance of each holy day corresponds with the season. The rebirth of the sun is all about our own rebirth on a spiritual level. It’s almost certainly the oldest holy day in the world, dating back into antiquity.
As I understand it the sun magnetizes the Earth, & the spiritual effect of the solstice is connected to it being the longest night, contributing to the thinning of the veil.
