    Would you use a float tube for fishing and what would you target with it?

    • @VinnyiPluh

      Probably bass and pickerel mostly, maybe crappie, would definitely use on large ponds/small lakes.

      Theres a guy around here i see on one from time to time, he ties off to a tree at the side of a lake, and just drifts around, while fishing.
      When hes done just pulls himself back to shore. i dont think he ever touches the paddle once hes out.
      he also doesnt sit on it right, he kinda stays on his knees and faces backwards lol.

    I just started back fishing and I have this same model and have loved fishing in it. I haven't used it in 10+ yrs, mine came with the travel bag that keeps everything in a nice package. I can't wait to take it out and target some carp should be a fun ride. On safety, I was flipped out of my tube while fishing by our members of our Olympic rowing team years ago ( they train on the lake I fish ). So bright colours are a must and a PFD. They are a blast to fish from just like fishing from an EZ-Boy.

    I've been fishing from my Fishcat 4 for nearly 20 years. It's never failed me. The only change to your setup I would suggest is real swim fins.
    My friends use those cheap fins that Bass Pro and Cabelas sell... and I run rings around them with my true snorkeling fins. I'm probably nearly twice as fast... without near the effort.

    • @NEFishing
      @NEFishing  4 роки тому

      The fins I got came as a package deal and so far they done a good job, I might upgrade to the turbo fins like my friend has. I would use snorkeling fins but I fish in cooler months sometimes and I wear wading boots so snorkeling fins would be and option only in the heat of summer. I might build a rig to carry my rods better on my float tube out of PVC.

    We use these in saltwater in Southern California- but you’re right don’t go in open water, stick to harbors and bays
    Enjoyed the video, Tight lines 🤙🏽

    nice video, had to perform the exact same repair to my boat today and this very helpful. Agree with your comments, these are great boats, I've had mine 10+ hears and this is the first repair I've ever had to do. Even bought one years ago for my granddaughter when she was about 9 years old, and we've had many a great trip together fishing trout in many different lakes. My dad used to use one down in S. California to fish halibut inside LA harbor until he was about 85 when my mom made him stop (slipped while putting it in the water and broke his hip). Even in the saltwater 2-3 times each week,, it held up great. Tough little float tubes for sure.

      They are definitely worth the money! They are not that expensive, require little maintenance, and get you out there to access more fish, and ,oh yeah, they are a lot of fun! Cant go wrong with an inflatable if your a shoreline fisherman! Glad to hear yours is still going strong after 10+ years!

    Do the flippers come with the float tube or are they sold separately? Great vid by the way.

    • @NEFishing
      @NEFishing  5 років тому

      The fins are sold separately, as well as the air pump. You don't have to get those accessories from them especially if you find them cheaper in a sporting good store near you! I've seen the air pump sold in different retailers, just make sure the fins are the rigid hard plastic ones and not the swimming pool or snorkeling kind! Your best bet would be to buy the fins from them and get the air pump of your choice from wherever and possibly get one that is battery operated or can be connected to your car for faster inflation.

    Hmm...that's pretty cool, I own Intex 4 boat but it's a pain in the butt to use, ecpecially if going by myself. How are regulations for this tube? I had to register the boat with DMV, get a license sticker..also at Bear Mountain lakes like Sebago they inspect the boat to approve for safety. How does it work with this tube?

    • @NEFishing
      @NEFishing  5 років тому +2

      No need to register it unless you put a motor on it, I dont put it on lakes own by the state or large bodies of water. I usually use on smaller ponds and lakes and have never been bothered by anyone. If i use it in a state park area or county lake I make sure I have all necessary safety equipment ( PFD, whistle, etc.) and dont have any issues!

    how do you fix a leaky bladder?

    • @NEFishing
      @NEFishing  3 роки тому

      If you just have a small tear or puncture it can be patched up, there are patch kits available for that. If it is leaking from a seam or valve like mine was then the best option is to replace the bladder. You can try a temporary fix by dabbing silicone over the leak but that is to be used as a temporary fix and could extend the life of the bladder, eventually you will just have to replace it entirely. So far I've had to replace 2 bladders on my float tube but that's over a 10 year span. Hope that helps!

    Where did you order the air bladder?

    • @NEFishing
      @NEFishing  5 років тому

      I ordered it from the manufacturer, there is a section for replacement parts on their website. There is a link to the website in the description of the video and they have very good customer service if you call them.

    A flag is helpful for visibility and stay the hell away from boats 😀

    • @NEFishing
      @NEFishing  5 років тому +1

      No need to worry about boats at all as the places I use thing at boats cant access or are too small for boats and if it's a big lake you stick to a cove, have never seen a boat out where I take my float tube!

      Lol, Yeah yeah! I knew someone would catch that! In hindsight I dont fish far from shore in shallow areas during the warmer months, or do stupid things while on it! Thank you for the comment!

      @@Exploremorefishing you're welcome, highly recommend one of these! They are affordable, reliable, and easy to store! It really is a lot fun fishing for bass in one of these especially when you hook into a fish that 3 pounds + the fish will turn you around and drag you a bit!
