Salt is commonly used to cleanse, ward and repel unwanted spirits. In some traditions and faiths, it's believed that adding salt is a repellant of spirits of ALL spirits, even ancestors who are called upon and welcomed.
I'll still serve cooked foods that have salt in them as a spirit offering, though. That may be against some traditions, but it works for mine. I just don't add any extra for the spirits :)

I'm adopted. In my experience, as soon as I set up an altar for my elevated and loving blood ancestors even though I knew NONE of them, that's when they came to me. I learned of my Haitian, Trini, and island roots in this life right from my own spirits whom I've never met. Have a desire to communicate with them, and they will come cause they were always here with you.

I have Saturn in Sag in my 11th square Jupiter in my 2nd. So i accept my karma with teachers/authorities, most teachers did not like me and I struggled with school most my life. Never had a trusted mentor throughout my awakening. Then I had to find it in me to share my knowledge with others even though having Mercury in Pisces and chiron in Gemini doesn’t help. Accepting the challenge and delays in those areas have got me closer to my goals though cause that awareness keeps me wanting to finesse it all like you said it’s like a video game. I try different things and life hacks to make myself stronger instead of allowing the struggle to speak and connect with others/my peers bring me down. I’ve struggled with optimism now I’m damn near mastering being in a positive state of mind no matter what’s going on around me. Trust, life is much better knowing yourself, your path and accepting your unique journey!
