- After a terrible outing at my FLGS, I had to come clean about my terrible purchases as well as share my recent 2024(ish) solo RPG purchases thus far this year. Some of them I've had the core games for awhile but now have solo supplements, some of them I'm just itching to play, and any others that exist that I don't yet have - please let me know in the comments so I can spend money on them IMMEDIATELY.

Can’t remember how many starter sets I’ve bought, just to get the dice. They cost way too much on their own in comparison. I feel your pain. At least they are nice dice :)

Dam ICRPG is great as his creator. I love how Runehammer explain stuff and how the book is layout... the bullet point in so direct to the point.
Btw i recomend his YT channel, he is a fun dude
I have been watching a lot and thinking very strongly about getting Crown & Skull even though it’s not solo
@@amanisalone Know nothing about Crown and skull but i went to look at the character sheet and i was like "what im missing?"
Crown & Skull is Runehammer’s latest - not explicitly solo but has oracles and dungeon generators that would lend itself to solo, as well as a fresh take on damage - instead of HP, you lose inventory and skills when taking damage in a more narrative way that has actual consequences.
Very intriguing - I just picked it up to check it out.
See I like his innovative stuff there even if it doesn’t work perfect it’s just nice to see a system that truly tries new things not just little tweaks. What an interesting guy he is too

I really dig your humor😂. I know exactly where you are coming from. I also love the dice but they are unreasonably expensive. You don't even get a complete set😮.
If you like ICRPG, Runehammer just released Crown & Skull, their new TTRPG.
For TOR the starter sets came with a misprinted die. They replaced them. Not sure about being fixed now, but would assume so.
Runecairn is a hack of Cairn and I think the name is just paying homage to the main inspiration. By Odins Beard also has another Cairn hack called We Deal in Lead which is a weird west hack.
The content in the box set of dragonbane is simply insane. I looked at others (like forbidden lands) and I can't go past the fact that it doesn't even have dices to play. :(

In buying expensive dice, you’re not alone. I got both colors of the One Ring dice sets for $49, when I could have gotten the starter set with the white dice set and a bunch of other stuff for $47. BUT I actually didn’t want the starter set, so I’m okay with it. And while we’re on the topic, yes, some (probably all from the first batch) of the One Ring dice sets had d12s printed with the numbers 2-11 instead of 1-10 (and then the eye of Sauron and the Gandalf rune).
I am one of the Colostle haters, and this is why: to me, so just one person’s subjective opinion, Colostle is about only one single thing: the oversized building. That’s the only thing my brain is curious about, everything else is a “meh, I don’t care” in that setting. And the building is inescapable, everywhere, you’re constantly surrounded by it and reminded of it. It literally dwarves everything else. Also, I dislike the art.
HOWEVER, in no way am I saying it’s a bad game, it’s just not for me. And this is for the same reason that “Runehammer-man” is a genius game designer. Because a game for everyone, becomes a game for no one. I am a firm believer in people making THEIR game. Like what you said about Vermis. Artists following their vision. So I’m very happy if Colostle is successful, and if you want to play it, 100% play it. And even if I don’t agree with everything about the design of ICRPG, it’s innovative, fresh, and inspiring. And ergo, genius.
I feel pretty much the same about established IPs. I have played both Star Wars and LotR RPGs, but despite loving the (original) movies, I’m not really compelled to play in those worlds.
It would be really interesting to see you play Vaesen. I have considered getting it, but it hasn’t won me over yet. But if you manage to make it look like fun, I might change my mind. Because to be honest I don’t need much of a reason to pick up another FL game 😂
Also, I had an idea for your Dragonbane game. I thought it might be fun if the new character connected with the old one, somehow. Like picked up his weapon, that now gives a bonus when fighting followers of that demon. Or, have Groddy’s ghost attach itself to Cottar for some reason. He was too angry to quit and will pester the halfling until his quests are finished?
FWIW, I got the One Ring starter set last year and the d12 was correctly 1-10+runes.

Have you ever played Lichdom or The Merchant? Both by Feral Wizard. I haven't seen very many videos of Lichdom on youtube, but from what I have seen, it looks pretty cool. I even ordered a copy for myself (still waiting on it to arrive from DriveThruRPG).
I haven't been able to find any videos on The Merchant, but it sounded pretty interesting. I haven't pulled the trigger on buying it just yet. Partly because I want to see a review/actual play of it first. But also because I've been having a lot of issues with orders taking forever from DriveThruRPG. So I completely understand your pain with shipping right now.
The problem with the jenga it uses your dexterity skills and not your character through Dice rolls
Haha, 42 here... I never learned my leason either... looking over to my RPG collection and all the - by comparison - way overpriced custom dice sets. Year Zero Engine and the 2d20 system are really bad for my wallet if my inner math rock addicted dice goblin reigns free
the upgraded starter set was $20 more and you got that pack of dice and a gmscreen.
Also I would of got the forbidden lands box set, nice the read the hard covers and the nice map is good for solo play.
I didn’t even know there was an updated starter set - is that still floating around somewhere?
