Second watch of this series and its a fantastic learning resource for a traditional photographer like me, who is interested in learning to create films. Thanks for sharing.
These are great, I was already sharing your miniatures videos - I hadn't realised Matt was in this, we worked with him a few years ago on a short, lovely actor to work with
What an insane amount of work! 2.5 years of preparation in order to film some 10 min of final film. I remember you first posted your miniature of Nasa area, I thought, wow these are really dreamers and hard workers. I'm very thrilled to be witnessing the creation of your film! Can't wait for the next episode :)
First of all, it's just wonderful! Great episode behind the scenes. I can't wait to watch the episode about the miniatures and the movie itself of course! But I have a question: is it a DLP or LCD projector? And were there any problems with flickering, so as not to change the shutter speed? Also how powerful is this projector? 3000 ansi or more?
Thanks a lot, glad you enjoyed it! I don't remember the exact model of the projector, but it was Acer, and it was either this one or a model similar to this one: personalprojector.co.uk/collections/home-cinema/products/acer-x1526hk-projector
It's so cool to see what goes on behind the scenes, especially with the lighting. I'm intrigued by the linear "scanning" light that you're using to mimic lights travelling past the car (e.g. 5:58) - does that have a name or is it your own invention?
Thanks a lot! The light you mention is an actual product. I don't know the name unfortunately, but it's some kind of LED tube light that you can program to do various effects like the car thing, lightnings, fire etc... cool stuff.
Are you guys setting up another kickstarter or regular subscription thing to support your work? You put so much effort in and would love to support your work… I think you should changes your names to Ridley and Scott by the way.
Hahaah.. Hello, I'm Ridley, and I'm Scott! 😂 We didn't plan to do the Kickstarter for this one, but who knows... If something happens we'll definitely announce it. Thank you! :)
Yes, some Croatian guy owns it. Interestingly, in the film Wancker is not driving a Mustang. The miniature car we used for the exterior shots is not a Mustang at all. But Mustang is the only American oldtimer we could get locally, and it served it's purpose for interiors. You can't really tell in the end.
Hey, could I work for you guys? Im making my own Terminator Future War fan film but I have a very limited budget/time frame because i'm still in school
Just keep working on your projects! We had limited budget with our first film Slice of Life as well. Had to be creative all the time. Practice makes perfect! ;)
wait until you see it in a movie! it looks great! I am actually always amused by observing how much of difference can some production pull between the feel of the studio, where everything always looks fake and without any atmosphere during the actual filming no matter what, and the actual final composit of all the audio and video elements, depth of field, color and everything else, which if done well always seems like a completely different product
But I would also like to add that we actually welcome the artificial look. The hand made "miniatures, projections, and matte paintings" look is part of our style. This definitely isn't supposed to be a realistic film. Also, one major reason why we decided to film with projections was that Croatia doesn't look like Florida, so we couldn't find exteriors that could match. And when you think of all the logistics of exterior shoot, this was probably cheaper than filming outside.
Hello from Pittsburgh!! Thank you for sharing your amazing techniques and hours of life with us all!
Ohoooo, hello Pittsburgh!! You are welcome and thank you for watching! ;)
Looks like a smooth first day!!! Can't wait for more!
Thank you!!! Yea this wasn't bad.. Later it became much harder! :D
Phenomenal work gentlemen. No doubt you're the greatest Croatian Film makers of all time
Haha... Thanks, but there were some Croatian filmmaking legends in their time! ;)
This was super cool I love seeing how far you guys have come since slice of life and how many people you have working on your project now.
Definitely a much different way of working! Much faster, but more costly! But this is how it should be :D

Very cool and love projection driving stuff. But where was the projector setup? Coming down from ceiling or on a table out of frame ?
On a table out of frame. You can see it in some shots, and probably in the next two videos.. 😉

Nixon playing Nixon... sometimes, Nomen est Omen...
hahaha.. very true!
Jack is truly a wanker! Beautiful Mustang. I assume someone in Zagreb had the car for rent?
As usual, boss, great informative bts piece!

Where can I get a T shirt?
Unfortunately we are too disorganized to have a web shop. 🤣🤣 Sorry! But thank you! :)
Gigantisch:))))

3:45 There is no such thing as a "nice relaxing sleep" before a shot day😂
Haha.. Very true 🤣😉
Jack Wanker looks like the dad from inside out
Haha! Good point!
Where can I watch this movie?
It's not out yet. It's being applied to festivals! 😉
Jack Wanker's cocky????? Really???? What gave it away? That said, slow progress is 'done right' progress. Thank you for bringing us along!
Haha! Thank you! 😉
What aspect ratio was this shot in?
4:3 😉❤
@@sliceoflifefilm ah yes, I thought so!
Add bravo,,, it ends up looking FAKE just like in any tv or movies…God forbid you actually go outside film a car scene…😂

100% this is part of the fun!
Plus who had all the gear to shoot multiple cameras from different sides of a car??
Jack Who ?
