  • Chrysanthemums or mums are one of our favorite flowers in the fall. But to get big, bushy plants full of blooms, you'll need to pinch or cut back the plant. This segment demonstrates two different methods to help the flower stems multiply. Produced by the Department of Communications. To learn more, visit our website at: www.kansasgreenyards.org

THANK YOU! I purchased a few bushy mums on sale late in the season a couple years ago and since then they have grown long and stringy. I'm so happy to learn how easy it is to grow them bushy. Ready for next year!

I think you need to stop trimming. He suggests stopping around July (budding season?) so you get enough buds for Fall.

Hi There, Please if you can guide me...I just ordered 350 of mum plugs. (cuttings) I also have the mum pots.( Does the pot size matter? The bigger the pot the bigger the mum? ) What is the trick to growing them as big as Nursery's do? Will the 20-10-20 help grow them to grow huge? I wanted to try to grow and sell them this year. The mums I have in the ground are huge. But when I grow in the pots.. not so big. Thank you
