I really love how Felix didn't take the easy route, and simply gave the Foreclaimers empathy, but neither did he paint them as still pretty bad for lacking that empathy. He acknowledges the difficulties in lacking it (social awkwardness, only helping out because the enemy's sickness is interesting, only letting them in under threat, casually threatening with death, etc.) but also shows that smart people are willing to be introspective and to learn, and yearn for self betterment even if it will make their road a bumpy one. Gothi said it best: his goal is pretty much revenge at this point. Deep down, Sips probably want this to stop, but what can he do to convince Xanu? A(n artificial) god who still doesn't want to accept the fact there are foreclaimers who are learning to feel emotions, to be like Gothi?

Yeah, but he's not fully himself at the moment. If ep 13 sips was their in that moment, he probably would've choked out 60% curse sips for saying that to his friend.
I got such chills when Sips and Gothi were talking. It's always interesting when a player ends up being the villain of the campaign. Like yea, technically it's Xanu, but Sips is actively participating in this. Angst doesn't feel like the right word because there's so much more to Sips. Well done

Jack giving Masika glasses is cute. Her thinking for a bit before asking him why he’s wasting recourses on her is adorable. I’m calling it now Masika x Jack❤
OMG I just remembered something from the previous eps. Didn't Xanu say that if him and sips aren't alligned to control the curse, the curse can spread? So if sips wanted to save the foreclaimer on the floor, and Xanu wanted to kill it, then there goals arent alligned! One of them would stop pushing the door in fighting the curse, so the will save is just the curse taking the opportunity to push against the door. Which is why Xanu and sips were confused.
Right that way sips is ok because they already come to terms to have control of themselves he must kill the foreclaimers because if they don't alligned the curse will do what they want and I like how sips tell about in the story the bad things he did as sips see himself as a destructive and not a helper because he watch squeeze die help get the little get back and the other good thing was saving Vicky he chooses genocide because perfection is something they may desire again in a rich economy of technology and material and will kill those not pure.
Xanu talking about Sips' purpose is pretty damn telling. He clearly views Sips as a tool to be used, not a person going through something extremely difficult. How ironic that he still advocates the death of all Foreclaimers because there's the *potential* that Stella's Children will revert, even though they've managed to achieve a level of empathy that he himself hasn't been able to in hundreds or thousands of years.
Im suprised that Sips dont Jump on that mention of "purpose". One this smell "you outlived your usefullness" second Sips dont like Talking about that stuff
So I don't think Xanu would be right to kill Stella's Children, but try and think about it this way The foreclaimers literally removed their own empathy to be better at science They create an immortal near unkillable being to torture Said being tries to wipe them out for obvious reasons Only after that do some of them decide to try and use empathy, which has given them minimal empathy after thousands of years Meanwhile the being has been languishing in hatred for said society after having been tortured for who knows how long Being sees the empathetic society, having held the belief for an impossible to comprehend amount of time that their species should be wiped out. Have you ever had someone try and convince you that a fundamental belief of yours is wrong, after you having had it for over a decade? Imagine someone trying to change a belief you've held for literal thousands of years.
Dang Sips! That... wow. Also Sips' speech is the exact type of speech a person says to convince THEMSELVES that they are actually bad and that they are actually capable of doing the horrendous thing.
But remember before joining the group he cruse objects and sell them to others he brought all kinds of pain and suffering without zaun then let go of control the cruse and become more apart of it thinking being bad all he can do. I know he can do good he save Vicky from her cruse. He save his friends when there needed he care for squeeze is the good in him but with the artificial god whispering the olny choice he wants as sips mostly olny done bad deeds and the small good doesn't make a difference.
Furthermore, harming others and intentionally causing chaos are the only ways he consistently demonstrates having control over his situation rather than waiting for some new development he wasn’t prepared for or should have seen coming as a result of his prior antics. At this stage, he’d rather deny any evidence that he’s not in control because of how outwardly bleak his situation is starting to look. Zanu IS the one in charge and IS using his insecurities against him, as much as he pretends otherwise to not have to face his helplessness. With his prior bout of hesitation, either he will falter and Zanu will attempt to steal more control from him, something incredibly tragic will have to occur in order for him to decide to abandon his goal, or he will fully commit to genocide to continue his narrative of being a villain that had to sacrifice his conscience to make a difficult choice to benefit others.
I think it isn't irredeemable I think Xanu can't let another person be harmed by the foreclaimers (a if nothing exist then everything is at peace philosophy) what I look forward to is the big reveal of Xanu 2.0. She pointed it out the old society built a new god. We are tots gonna get a god fight. The question is who is Xanu 2.0 gonna possess.(my bet is jack)
It really adds character to Xanu that even at his most manipulative, even he can’t predict every possible outcome of this situation, especially having an increasingly erratic and unstable cursed monkey as the main vehicle for his plans.
@@Autizm_factory I disagree. I checked the video, and that does not look like Xanu controlling him. It looks like whatever the thing Xanu is helping Sips restrain.
As a person with a lot of empathy it can sometimes feel like that making me “defective”. It’s certainly sometimes a burden that makes me overreact to things but having a lot of empathy is also mostly a gift. Empathy is a very important thing that can bring forth good changes
The more the story goes on, the more I feel like Sips's going to be the last boss and I love it. The image of him realizing he is going to hurt the ones that once were his friends but having to do so any ways because he is too far gone, it pains me and I love it.
Even though Zanu is helping Sips fight off the curse, in a way he's also using the curse (The source of Sip's of mental instability) to manipulate Sips. Making Sips second guess himself and rely on Zanu. WOW I love this series!
So my theory is: sips’s mind has been tainted/fused with the curse permanently. In broad strokes, *it* is pretty much in control at this point, trying to play like sips is still driving, when really, he’s tied up in the backseat. What does it want? Nobody knows. But maybe it’s trying to hide its bloodthirst by playing smart. Pretending that it has a plan, while really, it’s waiting to be in the right position to obliterate, annihilate, and eradicate. Even Xanu might have been tainted slightly. Obviously, a curse from a random witch can’t take over an artificial god, but maybe it had just enough power to push Xanu to keep on the path of genocide, no matter what is lost in the process. Sips is still there, though. He’s stuck in the backseat, but he can still try to break free. Every now and then, he gets a moment to stop himself just enough to doubt his motives. By now, the monkey/crocodile is basically just a host/corpse for three people fighting for control. Xanu, the artificial god, Sips, the poor monkey caught between it all… and *it.*
I don't think it's necessarily that. But you're close to what I think. The curse alters Sips' judgement. His perception of himself. Once Sips experienced continuity of consciousness after the curse reached both his hands, he felt as though he would always be himself. But in reality, it is affecting him. Warping his mind, influencing him toward evil, instilling within him... Helplessness. Xanu isn't working with Sips to hold beck the curse. He's working with the curse to influence Sips. To force Sips to accept that the genocide must happen. And what can Sips do? Xanu is a god. It's learned helplessness
If the current theory applies then that means the will save was imposed by the real Sips against the curse who’s in control. The curse failed the save so it couldn’t bring Sips to kill the NPC. That’s why Xanu’s confused, the curse shouldn’t be restraining Sips from going murder-hobo, so what happened? And if Xanu realizes he’s working with the curse, what will he do? Will he work with the curse to get his revenge at any cost, or will he realize the curse is a danger to Gothi before it’s too late?
I'm loving Dingo voice over, with every episode she's improving more and more at a point that I can't hear her voice anymore, all the characters feel unique, as they are voiced by different people, congrats Dingo you are amazing!!

Considering my own dnd group, I wonder how many running gags and table jokes we miss since we only see the main story of Fool’s Gold. For example, Felix probably put in the Rock-Named-Johnson joke because of Gothi’s player naming a rock Dwane. I’m pretty certain about this because I, as Mr. God Master DM himself, would totally do the same exact thing.

What in the 9 hells of Bator is this? I didn’t watch this series for movie level acting and one of the the most amazing stories I’ve ever heard. The effort The drama The action It’s driving me insane because of how good it is!
I routinely make my players suffer. I have never done anything as unimaginably sadistic as making someone make a save and having ABSOLUTELY NOTHING happen, at least... for a while.
My boys already arrived last week... and the delivery note got buried in the bottom of my mailbox so I didn't discover it until a few days later. They are lovely new roomates. They have only attempted to stab me twice.
AND THE SPIRAL KEEPS SPIRALLING! Honestly a great story so far. The conclusion of the campaign is almost upon us! I really love this story. If it ends, have it end on a high note. And, when this story ends, what campaign do you want to talk about next?
I think I've said it before, but it needs saying again. I'm both impressed and very grateful for your injections of humor into this very emotional and heavy story! It really helps balance out the tension, gives the characters more depth, and helps the truly emotional moments hit harder and stick better. Most cartoons geared toward older audiences seem to view humor as holding them back and they phase it out slowly. But, that causes the characters to become one note, depressing, and actually desensitizes the audience to the deeper parts because it's all deep and just more of the same. If you just give someone a plate of brussels sprouts they aren't going to touch it, but if you tell them you managed to hide candy in the middle of a few, they're going to dig into them with vigor to find the enjoyable parts.
To think this all started as a silly story about D&D karaoke gone wrong… I remain in awe of how far you have carried this series and managed to keep us invested in all of these characters.
Xanu wants to kill all of the Foreclaimers, but it sounds like they may do that for him themselves, considering Masika's attitude and Elowen's hostility towards Masika. 😂
Felix casually giving us a moment between Masika and Jack. Like you know Felix that we will definitely ship them and I swear he is a mastermind who will bathe in our sadness when he enviably kills one of them.
This series is brilliant. Most of the previous villains served to show what a person becomes and does when they don't have empathy, and now they're having to decide whether to wipe out a society for not having empathy, because of what that society will likely do.
Wow... Sips and Xanu make such an interesting comparison and duality. Xanu was built to be a god, to be perfect. But because of the abuse he has taken, and the love he received from Gothi helping to balance it sure, but at the end of the day, Xanu is angry. He feels like this is the only choice, to eradicate those who wronged him. Sips... did the same thing
I would kill to play in a campaign with you guys some day. You're such a fantastic storyteller, Dingo, and Felix is an incredible DM. Bees and Carson are excellent players. You're all so fun!
This has been the most emotional whiplash so far. From Elowen acting like Old Gothi to Sips being angsty to "This video is sponsored by Hit Point Press." Funny, angsty/tragic, enthusiastic. I am so glad I saw this before going to bed.

So much irony in Xanu basically becoming the things he hates.
@@dindapriska Especially when Sips has this inner conflict about needing help and wanting the power to not feel helpless. Xanu has promised him that power, and Sips is so desperate to not be a helpless burden, or to not be taken advantage of ever again, so he convinces himself that helping Xanu is what he wants, missing that Xanu is just using him as a tool to get what he wants, just like Kinora.
@@dindapriska I mean this keeps being said but....Xanu doesnt control sips. Sips still has more control that Xanu does. He doesnt need to convince him of literally anything. Xanu cannot cast without Sips's permission.

Honestly, I feel like there's some amount of projection going on there. Sips is having doubts, and is responding by very harshly pushing against anything that resembles them
To be fair... Sips might feel himself defective as well, considering he's no longer acting like a normal monkey, let alone looks anything close to a monkey anymore... and now with a god inside of his head, he is really losing his own identity as a person...

Let’s be honest, dingo could make a tv show out of this story, and we’d all watch it
personally i hope that they do it at some point (or even just a show about another of their dnd campaigns).
Critical role did it, who says dingo can't (granted critical role was one of the largest campaigns of all time)
I mean... she pretty much *is*.
Fuck YEEEEEEEESSSSSS
If a tv show actually happened, I would 100% watch it, and pay whatever I would need to watch just it-
Xanu talking about Sips' purpose is pretty damn telling.
All Skyrim players have flashbacks to the Blades.
Im suprised that Sips dont Jump on that mention of "purpose". One this smell "you outlived your usefullness" second Sips dont like Talking about that stuff
So I don't think Xanu would be right to kill Stella's Children, but try and think about it this way
The foreclaimers literally removed their own empathy to be better at science
They create an immortal near unkillable being to torture
Said being tries to wipe them out for obvious reasons
Only after that do some of them decide to try and use empathy, which has given them minimal empathy after thousands of years
Meanwhile the being has been languishing in hatred for said society after having been tortured for who knows how long
Being sees the empathetic society, having held the belief for an impossible to comprehend amount of time that their species should be wiped out. Have you ever had someone try and convince you that a fundamental belief of yours is wrong, after you having had it for over a decade? Imagine someone trying to change a belief you've held for literal thousands of years.
@@mlodykasztelan I think it's because of how much Xanu has poisoned Sips' mind.
I still hope Xanu succeeds though, that would be way more interesting compared to if the "good guys" just won, and everybody lived happily ever after.
Dang Sips! That...
Let's just hope (I at least do) that Xanu succeeds and commits genocide.

I love that Felix's "Make a will save." caused both Sips _and_ Xanu to both say, "What?" 🤣
It really adds character to Xanu that even at his most manipulative, even he can’t predict every possible outcome of this situation, especially having an increasingly erratic and unstable cursed monkey as the main vehicle for his plans.
And it proves that the will struggle wasn't against Xanu, but was from some other source.

Xanu, the artificial god, Sips, the poor monkey caught between it all…
and *it.*
THE WILL SAVE
I don't think it's necessarily that. But you're close to what I think. The curse alters Sips' judgement. His perception of himself. Once Sips experienced continuity of consciousness after the curse reached both his hands, he felt as though he would always be himself. But in reality, it is affecting him. Warping his mind, influencing him toward evil, instilling within him... Helplessness. Xanu isn't working with Sips to hold beck the curse. He's working with the curse to influence Sips. To force Sips to accept that the genocide must happen. And what can Sips do? Xanu is a god. It's learned helplessness
Yup was thinking the same
If the current theory applies then that means the will save was imposed by the real Sips against the curse who’s in control.
