It’s interesting how Atlas mentions that, considering how God of War 2 was released a year before COO. I guess while they didn’t have the whole story thought out, they wanted to imply that Kratos had met Atlas before, even if the story wasn’t fully explained. But in retrospect it makes sense as COO takes place 17 years before God of War 2, as it was set in Kratos’ fifth year in servitude to Olympus, 5 years later Kratos killed Ares and reigns for 12 years as the God of War.
