So happy to see Alpha 3 show up at a tournament. What a rare treat.
Sweet! I missed this one live. Love me some Alpha 3
The commentators slowly losing their minds is my favorite part of this.
I don't get how weird this whole thing felt... like the commentators are super bored and disrespectful, like they don't wanna be there... but also why? Cos the players aren't that exciting and this whole tourney is low-key meh? Like did anyone want to be there? Was the whole thing like a little time-waster throw-away side game? I watched this after the Super Turbo top 8 and the difference is night and day. (I'm not even criticizing the players, btw, I just found it so weird that the commentators are so fucking douchey and acting like they're watching morons play with sticks in the mud...it seems like they don't actually like or care about the game itself...)
“I don’t understand what I just saw”
When rolento dropped the custom combo
@@howdyouknow Every single piece of commentary they had was about how whatever the players was doing wasn't optimal, could have been better, must have been good by accident, etc. After a while it did get a little old. They should have been cheering when players got a good combo instead of just acting surprised that the players managed to do something right. These people literally traveled across the country to go to a tournament and have fun only to be bashed on by the commentators. Usually in top 8 you see fewer dropped combos, but who cares. V-ism combos are super difficult and the timing can be really tough if you haven't grinded for a ton of time. And even with loads of practice, nailing a v-ism combo can be really tough in tournament.
@ They even just complained about the game itself at times and acted super bored, like really a bad experience all around - the players struggled a bit, the commentators were assholes and as a viewer seeing it all from a 3rd perspective - holy crap man. I would've been really annoyed if I traveled for a tourney and that was the result... and for people saying they all played like fightcade newbs... um, ok, ya, but then you guys should go to a big event or organize one too. Ya, competition is exactly about that. Everyone is trying to win and do better. So players and organizers and event staff and everyone involved... we should be encouraging each other to do better to have better and more exciting events.
TL;DR fighting games are about getting good at competing and there's only good competition when people help and support each other to get better and attain higher levels of play.
Oh snap! I went to school with pskelly!
I've seen higher level gameplay in C rank matches on fightcade, but good on the players, you gave it your all❤
Ngl yeah but it also gives me the confidence seeing people play like this lmao, make me feel like I could join if I try
No disrespect at all to the players tho, you guys were great!
'We know jack shit about a3 so we're gonna act like we do by shit talking to the players. Ugh. That was ugly.
Who is that dude hiding himself with the minecraft plush. Legit sit somewhere else
This might be the weakest top 8 I’ve ever seen most of these dudes look like they started playing the game a month ago and could they have picked any worse of a commentary team
I think at least one or two of these guys also made top 8 in other tourneys for bigger games like ST. It seems to me like nobody really took this one that seriously, but also ya, why are the commentators so hostile and disrespectful? It's not conducive at all towards a better scene.
@@howdyouknowthat xagrand guy is known to have a dry personality and being full of himself I’ve seen him doing commentary for other games in the past and he’s always terrible, he’s also a scrub blanka player in super turbo where he just spams jump light kick. The other dude I have no idea who he is but judging from the fact that all he could talk about is cvs2 and that dumb blazing strike game, he definitely has little to no knowledge on have alpha 3 works which makes these two the absolute worst choices to have for an alpha 3 commentary team. As far as the competitors as concerned even the guys who made top 4 are barely above average players from what I’ve seen, I mean I’m a C rank in fightcade for alpha 3 and I could’ve probably gave most of that top 8 a run for their money and I’m nowhere near good enough to be entering any high level tournaments.
@@stevesteve0521 I didn't notice that about all the CVS2 comments, but now I remember he kept calling the ism's grooves. It is a little sad Alpha 3 rarely gets tournament time in the US due to popularity of A2, SSF2T, and 3Sa. I'm guessing like someone else said it just wasn't a super popular tournament. A few of the top 8 players like MIghtyMar must be somewhat new because I've never heard of him playing A3, but he is a very high level player in Vampire Savior. And then they mentioned another guy that played Sim was only playing A3 for his 3rd day or something.
@@aiw437591 yeah mightymar is one the best vampire savior playing his anakaris is insane but he clearly barely knows alpha 3 from the way he kept dropping his V Ism combo. Alpha 3 is still popular in USA in my opinion probably not to the level of alpha 2 but I’ve seen tournaments with great players and good commentary often, I just believe like you said this whole thing was unfortunately.
I would have cleaned this up free
Why didn't you
@ I’m not going to some stinky tournament just to play that and win what? 100 bucks? Yea ok
just say you're scared to lose
@ bro I’m grown af not worth it for me to travel to an event for a dead game idc about being around a bunch of kids all day in a sweaty venue. If it’s at evo I may go to play along with something else. Hop off my sack
