Definitely best budget cinema camera of 2022!! for $1,800, you get a superb cinema camera with the mic grip that bring it to another level. AT this point, i would recommend the FX30 over the a7iv and a7C because of so many features packed into it and its affordable price tag. New filmmakers are truly lucky today.

Why? Not full frame. Crop at 120 4k beyond apsc. No continuous shooting. Only electronic shutter. No viewfinder. Hard to see in bright lights.

Mine comes in this week. I’m going to use it as my main filming camera.
The 4th wall break and dude singing was AMAZING LMAO!!!! I couldn’t not see him still singing the song towards the end when he left the scene 🫢🤣🥹😅🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽💯👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Oh, and the FX30 was still beautiful as well 🤣🤣🤣 I personally still prefer Full Frame and only use Crop for vlogs and C-Roll 🤓
This is gonna pair so good with the Sirui 1.33x anamorphic lenses! Can you imagine just 5 or 6 years ago that you can have a quality anamorphic image that is 4K slow motion with 10 bit color at this price point!

Camera A is the fx3 only can tell because of the crop on the B cam and lightly less background compression 🤩

Got it from the first scenario. You can’t mimic the bokeh rendering and you can see the noise in the shadows. Also seeing the punched in field of view for Camera B was easy to see.
Looks great though in a well lit scene or if your filming multicam at low base ISO.

I know its a controversial feature but I love using catalyst browse, its so handy, and gives the edge Sony, for me.
Wow, that video with the game of chess was amazing! And filmed with the FX30, it convinced me. And you're right in the end of the video, pointing out there are more options... I'd love to get that new FUJI, but my reason for getting the FX30 is that it's more affordable than the FX-3, my needs are simpler, and I'm in the Sony system with several other cameras as well as a number of lenses. Thank you!

10:50 I actually think Sony is the one putting pressure on Panasonic and Fuji here. With the autofocus system Sony has, many users will value that more than 6K recording and anamorphic modes.
I just received and FX6, and the GH5 was my previous camera. To replace the GH5, the GH6 was on my list. Now, the FX30 is looking like a better option.

I think the Panasonics are better at just about everything other than AF. They are also great value when you consider that you can buy a S5 for considerably less than the FX30. But even as a Panasonic fan I have to admit that if the next generation of Lumix S cameras don't have Canon/Sony level AF then sadly the game is up. Sony is just eating up the market. Now would be a very good time for Panasonic to announce a S5H with PDAF. Stop those thinking of getting the FX30 or the Fuji. We'll see soon if they can.
Totally agree, I'm actually waiting on the FX30 backorder right now to replace my gh5. I shoot a lot of sports, and that Sony AF is just too good. I've loved the GH5, but that slow autofocus has been killing me
I am watching this video from a 55' 4K screen and I notice FX30 has a lot noise in the dark area which isn't good.
I'd consider this for wedding video but that also concerns me. I have a a7iv and a7siii ans I just passed the return period for the a7iv as I was thinking of getting this. I'm wondering if I should try to sell it locally and preorder one od these. the fan is really nice for hot scenarios

I'll say B is the FX30. As for the camera I was hoping it would be at the Canon R7's price or below but I guess that's the "cinema camera" tax. Definitely would like to try it out in the future!

at the beginning I thought cam A was the FX30 as it looks sharper, and I thought the 6K downsampling would make it crisper. In actual fact, the FX30 looks softer, and that may be due to the fact that they have to use just the central part of the lens and move away to get the same FOV .... maybe I get the FX30 but I am not impressed by the image quality

I was just about to buy a Panasonic S5 for a project I'm starting, B&H has a special where they're selling it for $1995 included with a Ninja V, but I would have had to buy some lenses as well. I have been using the Sony a6400 for a long time, I have all of these aps-c lenses, and some vintage lenses adapted to it, I think I'm going to buy this camera instead. It actually seems like a no-brainer for me. And right on time. I'm wondering if I can match the image quality from my a6400 with this FX30 though. 8-bit and 10 bit? Probably not. SLog2 and Slog3? It would be awesome to keep my camera as a b camera, but that probably won't work very well. The good news is I can just trade mine in and get it even cheaper. :-) great video, thank you so much

@@dr.revenue3636 100%. It’s a no-brainer. It’s interesting to see APS-C bodies move upmarket in price AND move to create a different perception in the market. It may not be huge for most of us, but I think if this (once this!) camera is Netflix approved, we should see a lot of small budget films hit the schmedium screens :). Cheers!
It was definitely the noise that was the immediate giveaway. The image quality is very good but there is a difference in light quality and noise in the shadows.

Amazing camera… it’s funny the only thing I wish it had was a view finder. $1800 is a beautiful price range but after the additional top handle and external monitor the true price for this camera is probably closer to $3,000

Found breaking the fourth wall portion hilarious on the short 🤣🤣🤣 doe I do have to say I did like the softness of the video were it looked sharp but not digital like I’ve seen on other cameras. Been out of the game for a while was looking to start again with one of the canon dslr cameras, seeing this nah I’ll just grab the FX30 and work myself up the chain.

Holy crap. Sub $2K for a brand new sony cinema camera? That's amazing. Coming from BM, this is exciting because there are now more entry level options at a competing price point. Not Sony fan, but I can give credit where it's due and Sony put BM and Canon on alert. Question, what jib arm is being used in the video? I don't see it listed below with the equipment links. Could've overlooked it as well.

I believe Camera A is the full-frame FX3. Either way, I love camera A's look. But as a film student, the FX30 is the only one in budget. Unfortunately, I already have a bunch of amazing Sony full-frame lenses at my desired focal lengths. Decisions, decisions....
For me to know which 1 was FX30 was pretty easy, u shot from the same distance ...so the Crop Sensor factor was obvious .... 2nd Depth of Field is pretty obvious too after 1st shot
I want this sensor and similar video specs in a refreshed a6600. An EVF and continuous shooting would be so good

QUESTION: Do you know if you can activate the "crop mode" (1.62x) without entering 120fps? Say, shooting in the 4k 1.62x crop mode at regular frame-rates (24, 25, 30) with sync audio, just as a way to extend a prime lens' field of view?

Not for me. It was the depth of field that I was looking at. APSC doesn’t have as depth of a field of view vs the full frame does

Yup same picture profile and 2.0 menu system!
Crazy how Sony APSC doesn't get crucified like the other brands. This is coming from a Sony Full Frame User.

Yep, excited for this to trickle down into the next A6*** / ZV-E** installment. Entire A6* lineup is way past its prime.
On UA-cam plus on my phone, I feel like I can't see the low light difference in ISO/ dynamic range difference between the two cameras
It’s definitely harder to notice it because everything is being compressed on a smaller device, watch it on your TV and it’s a different story

guys I have a a7siii and a7iv. should I sell my a7iv for this. I shoot weddings and have alot of power light. just bought the a7iv. I don't want to jump on the bandwagon of (get the newest thing out their). the low light worries me with the fx30. it is a nice price point though. I don't really do photos
How does it compete with BMPCCK6 pro
I have two fx3s and was about to buy a third for podcast shooting. I would be rolling on all three at the same time. Would recommend this as a third camera to go with the FX3s filming at same time? Or will it look different if all 3 cameras are set to iso 800 at F4??? Would love to know.
It should be the same, especially at 800 ISO and using same settings as FX3
