To explain the tokey blade manga (like it matters much) is aquas character was ment to be engaged with akanes character but presumably after the shibuya arc in the manga they join the main characters group then fans ship aquas and kanas character and the author caves to fans and makes the 2 characters a canon couple
Pretty sure Aqua was never meant to end up with Akane, Akasaka planned to kill her until Mengo told him Akane might be useful to the story. Akasaka also has a tendency to make couples with opposite color themes (Kaguya/Miyuki, Yu/Miko, Mari/Masaya...), having two blue-themed characters together was doomed to fail with him. I think it's pretty much the opposite, Aqua has a much healthier relationship with Kana and was always meant to be with her. But he ended up with Akane for a while for the sake of the plot moving forward, and possibily so the fans.
I don’t think the production side wants to get one over on the mangaka, because Akane mentioned she initially approved the changes. My theory is that, Sayahime (Akane’s character) is a secondary character and knowing she dies, simplifying her doesn’t affect the story as much so the mangaka was less bothered seeing that change. Aqua also says that overall the adaptation is faithful. It’s just that Sayahime is very different. I actually think that what causes the mangaka want to changes is seeing them act it out for the first time. I kinda think that she will want to change the original story to make Sayahime a more prominent character.
Ruby is incredible. So, just because Aqua would be in a relationship with Akane for professional reasons, he would be considered an enemy of women? I have a hard time understanding how he is an enemy of women when, on the contrary, he has proven that he knows how to take care of them and even save them (like Akane during her suicide attempt).
Ok this is really confusing me but can someone explain why Red Shirt dude's name changes every video? I've watched some of their other videos and sometimes I hear his name is Fred, Frank, Paul, John, etc. Am I going insane or what lol
I am so excited! this arc is the best arc of OnK imo. Lots of kana, akane pov and aqua chemistry. And superb dialogue writing.
An interesting element in the opening of season 2 is Ruby and Aqua removing their masks to reveal themselves as Sarina and Gorou!
