Just got my 858 w/Godox TX and am so impressed with this implementation. I'm also inclined to believe that Sekonic is the greatest light meter manufacturer in the world, as even now in 2024, there is nothing I could find that offered anything near what the 858 can do. Thank you Sekonic and Godox for this wonderful tool.
Simply brilliant video - the best I have ever seen on a technical topic! Speakers diction, speed of talking and clarity of information all excellent! Background music was kept at an acceptably un-intrusive low volume! I have the L-858D meter and will now be purchasing the RT-GX transmitter! Thank you Godox. Question - what is the camera plug on your Sync Cable - I have a canon 5D Mk1 and Canon 90D and both camera plugs are different? Cheers from Down Under.
This works great on all my FlashPoint units, I just wish I could select more than one group at a time instead of just one group or all groups - for instance, selecting group A and B at the same time - hopefully this will come in a future firmware update

I can't find out if it will work with my light meter as I'm a bit confused with the letters coming after the number 858. The link point to a version for L-858D-U but mine it's just L-858D without the final U, would this work?
I just receive mine from Adorama and the package seemed to be stepped on and when I took the transmitter out it sounds like something is rattling internally. Question: Is it supposed to do that?
rattling from the transmitter is normal. I have both the Godox transmitter and the PocketWizard transmitter. Both modules makes the rattling sound. However there should be no sound when the module is loaded in the meter
Sekonic and Godox missed a features that is super easy to implement. I would instantly buy this if there was a possibility to set a certain f-stop on the sekonic and have the sekonic adjust the light output. Similiar to TCM, just more accurate with a light meter. Without this feature it's just a light meter that is capable of controlling my flash. If I want that, I can just buy any light meter and hook it up to a second godox transmitter, that also allows me to control the flash. I get it, that there are other cool features about the light meter, but it really doesn't justify the price compared to a regular light meter + transmitter or the build in TCM from Godox.

The -U is just for the0 L-858D that is sold in the US. Other then that the L-858D-U & L-858D are the same.

The meter itself should no paddle.

Yes, they are exactly the same for flashpoint.
